Gerry Adams the worst thing to happen to this country in years. He closed Garda Stations and reduced the number of Gardai.Cut their resources, caused the recession, cut cares allowances, imposed property taxes and set up Irish Water and introduced water charges then urged that this charge was not double taxation. Broke every election promise he ever made imposed a total of 43 extra taxes and a few weeks ago could not get the sums right when he was educating the ignorant electorate on fiscal space. God I'm tired and I've only started. What a bum.

Enda Kenny wouldn't look out of place in the circus

Whereas Mr.Adams ,indeed ,as a sinister lying hypocrite ,would not be out of place in a chamber of horrors.

Mary Lou sums up the brain capacity of your average north inner city dubliner.

They should all be imprisoned for the countries safety

I thought it was a good debate with 5 winners and 2 losers.

I accept its easier for the smaller parties as they have no defending to do.

1.Lucinda Creighton.
She's a good speaker, she didnt hector and her points were succinct,a flawless performance.

2.Richard Boyd Barrett
Surprisingly effective and got his message across, would have been the winner but for his stumble towards the end.

3.Micheal Martin.
Is the best debater, this format wouldn't play to his strengths but he nailed Gerry Adams.

4.Enda Kenny.
Perceived as a poor debater,I'm not so sure.
He did what he set out to do made no mistakes

5.Stephen Donnelly.
A clear good speaker although Burton was right he did come across as some management consultant.

The Losers.

Joan Burton
She can't help her voice but it grates, she came across as a prop for Fine Gael.

Gerry Adams.
Received a knock out blow early from Micheal Martin, had a senior moment when he was all over the place on Garda numbers, looked confused at times.

I'm sure loads will say Claire Byrne was the winner but she was brilliant.
She was in total command, seemed to have all the facts and knew each party's manifesto.
Here is a real talent,RTE should give her more work and hope she doesn't get snapped up by the BBC.

agree claire byrne was the winner.super intelligent.sharp.and she looks good too...adams is a lame duck but i think sinn fein are in the same bracket as m lowry   as in dont tell us how to vote,we will vote for who we want etc..

Joan Burton shamed herself as did Enda Kenny to a lesser extent. You come to expect that at this stage though and it really is embarrassing for the Irish people to have a special needs Taoiseach and a leprechaun as President.
I thought Boyd Barrett did very well even though I wouldn't be on the same wavelength as that guy.
But there was no doubt who stole the show, it was the bearded one, he was like a fella who had a skinful before he came on, totally incoherent and making no sense.
I suppose a party for the intellectually challenged was never going to have a leader who was even mildly intelligent.

He is like a lot of those left wing leaders, they go on forever.

He's too old and it showed last night.

I hope they keep him as leader for as long as possible.
He is a typical muddled sixties leftie.
A man who has devoted his life to Irish independence yet loves the EU,this exchanging of masters is anachronistic to me.

Any of these rent a crowd parties have little class and nothing to offer, the followers who are given 20 smokes for a 1/2 days protest are as intelligent as the pigeons walking round Dublin Castle. They are so brain dead they post their ignorance on Youtube. The same flutes will be the ones leading the 100 year celebration before been arrested for public order offences. Of course that will be the Gardai's fault again. Its very seldom an intelligent person will be arrested, in Ireland we vote them in and they still break the law. As Brendan Grace said " Ireland is the only open air lunatic asylum in the World".

I thought Lucinda gave an excellent performance. She was calm, assured and very strong on issues like health and law and order.

I'm surprised Stephen Donnelly has been praised so much for his performance. Apart from his his contribution on economic issues, his performance lacking any detail or depth imo. He seemed to be generating answers off the hoof.

Boyd Barrett played to his usual crowd but his unashamed populism on the issues of rural post offices showed clearly his lack of clear policy and ideas. The idea that we can provide for everything for everyone that wants it is fanaticism. He also seems to think we can solve the unemployment problem by hiring everyone as public servants. No clear policy on any issue imo, just fantasy politics.

Very impressive performance by Claire Byrne, put shame the 2 moderators from the previous debate to shame.

I thought RBB was clueless. He stayed calm and was obviously advised not to rant which helped him no end in his presentation.

Donnelly and Creighton came across best. What was shocking was how useless the major leaders are when it comes to debates. They just engage in negative populist politics.

I think Donnelly proved popular because he actually came across as realistic when it came to the economy and the USC.

Whatever everyones opinion on who came across best, the more labour TDs and lefties like AAA/pbp turfed out the better.

O'Riordain is now on TV3, spouting excuses for feral 5cumbags roaming around the city causing mayhem. The usual leftie guff.
Give them a hug eh Aodhain. He describes the 3 strikes and your out approach as something from the 50s......What about 80-100 strikes? Would they be out then Aodhain Crazy

ORiordan a typical intolerant Liberal,he's in power and has done nothing on crime.

With a bit of luck this police time waster will lose his seat in the next election.

Claire Byrne was the winner as said above.  She was not afraid to debate with the leaders and stop them if they started telling porkies.
I thought Joan Burton made the mistake of churning out prepared comments, almost as if she was reciting poetry.
Creighton came across as capable, but are the country ready for ideas that are far from the centre.
Boyd-Barrett did not impress me, but then I have the strange idea that you need to support business.
Jerry Adams again sounded like he knew the answer to everything in bar-stool philosopher style.
