Not the best race in the world to be fancying one in but i can t help thinking that Ballycasey has been laid out for this. First thing that would draw you in, is his excellent record running fresh having won first time up the last 3 seasons .
Also would look like that he has left Boston Bob in to keep the weight down on Ballycasey at 11-1.. ( although Boston has a very good record fresh aswell !! )
Course form is always a help in Gowran as when its heavy it can be deeper than anywhere else so the fact he won a conditions chase on heavy here is a plus also.
Mala Beach will have its followers and the 3 or 4 than went close in the leopardstown race at christmas.
Bumper day in store for Team Clonsutton tomorrow with 4 odds on shots .....Anyway 8/1 Ballycasey tonight with Powers .... think it could go off half that tomorrow
Someone might want to contact the overnight traders in PP and tell them the max liability allowance for Ballycasey has been reached and needs to be reset.

Rothwells horse in handicap hurdle looks nicely in but just can't bring myself to back it.
Will be laying Tell Us More tomorrow. A pure disappointment and will continue to do so.
Think At Fishers price has a chance and will be laying the fav. Thought he got a cruel hard race at Christmas and wouldn't be surprised if he to see him well beaten tomorrow.

Am backing Martello Tower, even though he has to give weight all around. He was said to be badly in need of the run at Xmas, and ran very creditably in the circumstances. His strength is to grind out results, and a lack of fitness will hinder his type more than most.
At 11-4 he is a bet for me tomorrow.
Agree with BWS that the jolly was bottomed the last day.

For what its worth my thoughts would be that Alpha Des Obeaux should win and only has Martello Tower to worry about, and if Ballycasey wins the Thyestes id pack in the game for ever.

Jessie's New to the town can upset the Mullins hotpot in the bumper, form got a boost at weekend and won first time out when not expected. Ice cool to complete hat trick also.

I have him blocked wonks, I didn't see he tipped the winner, not that it would bother me in fairness. Its not as if it wasn't due I suppose, considering the last winner he tipped was Red Rum. Well done Applehunter, you the man. As somebody said the winners are to be found on the Irish forum

I think the gobber got it taken down. Under no circumstances was he sharing the limelight, and in fairness if you backed your first winner since JFK got shot, you'd like your moment in the sun

Fair is fair now Mincer, its not that long. If memory serves me correctly, he put up the same horse in the same race last time year when he finished second.
Long time between drinks, but as I say great perseverance. I didn't get to see WMFB awards, but I imagine Gobshee was up for some such award.
WD again.

Full bus up from Cork. Always are great day, but to have a 20/1 winner makes it all the better.
Had to give some moral support to The Gotchee earlier.

newapproach • January 22, 2015 1:33 PM GMT My Murphy 3.15 20/1 High class stayer who could still be a bit ahead of his mark. Ran a cracker on his first run back on the troytown and slow pace wouldn't have suited last time in the paddy power. Good luck.

Catch Me ifyoucan • January 31, 2018 12:51 PM GMT Philip Reynolds' patronage of all trainers great and 'small' is a refreshing aspect to Irish national hunt racing and his alliance with Galway based handler Pat Kelly yielded another winner at Punchestown today, as the pair won the Toals.com Casino E500 Bonus Maiden Hurdle with Eagle Lion. Ridden by Davy Russell, eight year old Eagle Lion readily justified 11/10 favouritism when scoring a six lengths win over Stoneford to gain his first career win on just his third start. Kelly, who won the past two renewals of the Pertemps Hurdle at Cheltenham with Reynolds-owned runners, later commented “we'll see where we go now - I was hoping he would win today. “We might bring him back here on February 11 for a three-mile handicap hurdle - it depends on what way the handicapper rates him.” Owner Reynolds has run horses from seven different yards this season, including leading trainers Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott, and his alliance with Kelly yielded Thursday's Galmoy Hurdle winner Presenting Percy, who is again Cheltenham-bound following last March's heroics in the Pertemps Hurdle.
