An intriguing novice hurdle at Doncaster will play a major part in deciphering the fate of my punting weekend.

The appropriately named Knocknanuss has being a talking horse since before he made his racecourse debut when with his Kinsale handler (SPS of 11/10,5/6 and 4/6).
An impressive point winner at Killeagh on his debut beating a decent yard stick in Go Long (tenuous form lines may be drawn by some beteween Charbel/Go long/Yanworth).

A week after his point victory he was sold at the Brightwell Cheltenham sales for £180k to Harold Kirk/WPM but returned by them shortly after.

He subsequently won a lady rider bumper at Killarney readily under a front running Nina ride. The form of that race has had mixed subsequent form with the likes of itsafreebee appearing to frank the form but he had no assistance at all from the saddle in Killarney that day.

Knocknanuss is a potentially exciting sort with Gary Moore now and the market should be informative on hurdle debut on ground softer than he has won on. It was soft summer ground when defeated by the Dennis Hogan trained Jack the wire at Tipperary.

However I have being mightily impressed by le Prezien. This french bred (out of a half sister to Dato Star) ran a race full of promise on UK debut when running into future grade 2 winner Yanworth. He subsequently dismissed a few potentially decent sorts in contemptuous fashion in similar conditions to those that he will encounter tomorrow.
Le Prezien has to concede 7lbs tomorrow tomorrow but is more than capable of doing so with a total of 4 hurdle runs now under his belt.

Is stable form a concern and perhaps exacerbated by the annual flu jab period?

Of course it is but the fact that he has ran to a consistently high level on 2 runs over the last 7 weeks alleviates that issue sufficiently from my perspective at least.

I would rate Le Prezien chances at around  4/7  tomorrow and have taken plenty of evens and the current 10/11.

La Prezien was declared a probable runner in the Tolworth last weekend but Pumpkin head ducked it when he realised Yorkhill was turning up there

Good post dj, I know you won't take it personally, and I'm not one of these lunatics who disagree for the sake of it, but without any huge conviction I rather fancy the Winters horse getting the 7lb. I actually opposed Le Prezien in Ludlow and it won apologising, maybe I'm wrong but I thought it was grossly flattered in Warwick, and didn't think it was much . Have a feeling that race in Ludlow rather fell asunder and I'm not sure it can give the penalty to Knockanassus. Quite clearly the market will be informative, but if the second favourite is relatively strong, I'd fancy it to make all maybe.

It's definitely an interesting race.

At first glance I was impressed by the Nicholls horse at Ludlow when he quickened away despite being a bit keen. When I looked into the race more closely a couple of things struck me.
I think the race conditions precluded any horse which had raced on the flat from running which obviously would mean question marks over the strength of the form.
Secondly the second, third and fourth were all by Scorpion which would set alarm bells ringing for me.
That said I was disappointed by Knocknanuss when he was dismissed easily by the subsequently slightly disappointing Jack The Wire(another Scorpion!!)
I think Knocknanuss was slightly lame when bought by Kirk and was sold with an option to return but I'm not 100% sure. However its definitely Knocknanuss who's from the family of Dato Star.
Too many question marks over the form of the yard for me to back the Nicholls horse at a shade of odds on.Hard to be dogmatic about Knocknanuss on the ground and two others with a squeak on best form mean its a no bet race for me.

1/3 now with the n/r, C/D winner Unbuckled looks the only one to beat now.
Report Temlett January 8, 2016 1:21 PM GMT
Around 8/13 if you took the 10/11 previously though.
Report mincer11 January 8, 2016 1:58 PM GMT
Well done dj, I know it turned out a non event but it didn't half win. You'd have to say it would have beat the bawloxx out of Knockanassus as well, its a much better horse than I thought.

This is what a proper horse racing thread looks like.

Articulate, informative, well presented (paragraphs ☑, no rogue question marks ☑, mastery of could of/have etc  ☑) and accurate.

DJ is brusque at times but this is understandable as he is frequently dealing with g0b****s on here.  He eviscearted Tony recently when Tony painfully and repeatedly tried to defend the indefensible.  Tribal Pa popped up with the derisory label 'Robot Boy to denigrate a guy who not so long ago took the trouble to walk Pa through some basic gambling math.

There are none so blind as those who cannot see.

Now, back to my hammock.  I just hate to see genuine intelligence and perception jealously derided by those less capable.

the difference between this 1/4 shot and the odds on shots that snap tips is that this one won.snap probably had his dole money on this and can afford an extra 2 cans of special brew.
Report insideinfo January 8, 2016 7:56 PM GMT
i wonder if snap will know how to divide these extra two cans between himself/the wasp and mincemeat.
Report workrider January 8, 2016 9:54 PM GMT
I really cant believe that , you work on the basis of there been ONLY 2 possible winners of the race , one is withdrawn leaving the other to vitually walk over , and ye have gobshytes prasing you from the heavens for a 1/4 winner, get a grip ffs. You are so far up your own arse DJ it leaves no room for Ozy....
Report insideinfo January 8, 2016 9:58 PM GMT
it was a good op imo but the minute tw&ts like snap/the wasp/mincer (arent they all the same person?) appear on any thread you can be certain its going to turn into a slagging match.
Report workrider January 8, 2016 10:15 PM GMT
Maybe you did get paid out bigger , although the bookie that payed you must be some clown, you might like to enhance that , what you did was put in a few words that you think people on here dont understand , sit back waiting for them to applaud ,they cant do anything else  now can they, or they'll be deemed stupid by you . You gave a opinion which was NEVER tested ,the non runner been the only horse that could have upset the apple cart , you then have a crew applauding you as if you'd cracked the morse code ffs ..
Report snap crackle and pop January 8, 2016 10:19 PM GMT
What are ya on about wonks? "Maybe you did get paid out bigger"

He backed it at evens and 10/11, are you not aware how the R4 system works or what?

DJ876 won the Oscar Sam award in our ill fated ceremony.
I like the opening post,I like betting on those type of races and i liked Mincers reply.

The second favourite became a non runner so it ruined the race for most.
From DJ876 point of view the rule 4 worked massively n his favour, anyone that backed it here got the full force of their layer friendly deduction.

I was glad to see it win.

There's always a but,Dj876 keeps calling others " the backslapping brigade "
The reality was this was a 1/3 winner.
What would you call the Ozymandius reply, apart from patronising, fawning and sycophantic but back slapping.
Similarly Snaps reply was back slapping although as usual with him tongue in cheek.
The Wasp also contributed a gushing reply.

Workrider put up Vicangelome at 5/1 at Naas last week,it was a good priced winner what harm if people thanked him for it.

I liked the opening post would like to see more of them so keep them coming.

Probably thinks he is anyway G2D,shure once he is happy what harm, leave him float around goodo.
An epic fail over time in creating his own internet persona on here, you just gotta laugh.
