Really good piece in todays field about him.I never knew he was Alberts son , loved what he had to say when asked, what qualities do you look for in a trainer, he goes on to discribe them in many ways, but finishes with the classic. They are all from the same College of Excuses !....Wonderful stuff and worth the price of the paper....

What improvements would you like to see racecourses in Ireland do for owners?

It’s more about what they can do for themselves. Racecourses need to get people to the races. It may well be easier to watch ATR but there’s nothing worse for example than say Navan December 13th; a Grade 2 and 3, super beginners’ and handicap chases, great horses competing, Bellshill, Ttebbob, Walk To Freedom, Fine Rightly and so few people in attendance. Most race meetings have 70 to 100 horses competing, each has an owner/owners. Offer them free admission for all their guests, they’ll buy racecards, a coffee, a drink, have a bet and the worst that can happen is that we will have more people in attendance.
Hopefully some racecourse mangers take note.
