Three of Asia’s in-form stars go into the $1M ((((( "THAILAND GOLF Championship" ))))) which starts in a few hours !
Some of the best players on the planet will be at the Amata Spring Country Club in Chonburi including two-time winner Lee Westwood, the 2013 champion Sergio Garcia, last year’s runner-up Martin Kaymer, and two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson. In-form Thai stars Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat will lead the charge for the Asian Tour, having both enjoyed stellar seasons.
South Korea’s two highest-ranked players, world #31 An Byeong Hun and #58-ranked K.T. Kim, will be joined by Japanese superstar Shingo Katayama for the Asian Tour’s showcase event. 29-year-old Kim, who is number one on the Japan Golf Tour money list after five victories this season, and hoping to end 2015 ranked in the world’s top 50 and thereby secure an invitation at the Masters at Augusta in April. Four places in The Open are also up for grabs while places in the Asian Tour’s EurAsia Cup in January are also up for grabs for the region’s best players adding even more intrigue to the season-ending event.
“There is much to play for at the Thailand Golf Championship, with its prestige, the prize money, and the world ranking points on offer as 2015 comes to an end,” said Kim. 50/1 ew tanks !

Montgomerie is in the MCB Tour Championship this week in Mauritius - finale on The European Senior Tour - having already claimed two titles this term, including a successful defence of his US Senior PGA Championship crown in May, and a third victory of the campaign at Constance Belle Mare Plage - he finished tied sixth in both 2013 and 2014. He said: “You have to keep the ball very straight from the tee round here, but that’s never been too much of an issue for me. Where I have struggled is on the greens, where the grain makes it difficult to read the putts. “So I haven’t putted as well as I would’ve liked for the last two years, especially from six feet and in. You really have to hole most, if not all of those if you’re going to win any tournament, but especially one as prestigious and competitive as this. So if I can hole out better this week, then I’ll have every chance because there’s not a lot wrong with my ball striking at the moment.”
Montgomerie is determined to maintain his proud record of never having finished outside the top six in any regular Senior Tour event since joining the over-50s ranks two years ago.

Doubt there be much interest in this one Catch Me.
Thailand has some star names, but quite a few of them have question marks over them. Kaymers confidence is seemingly shot to pieces, and the likes of Westwood played atrociously on what must be his favourite terrain last week.
Bubba strikes me as someone who puts an awful lot of mental energy into a successful week, and as such his poor record the week following a win makes sense. It also makes him avoidable this week.
With the vast majority of this field having next to no chance, and doubts over a few of the fancied ones I went with 3, all short themselves, but all looking highly likely to contend.
Sergio Garcia is the type to take plenty from a win. He lives on confidence, and last week may be the fillip he needed. He obviously likes it here, as he hasn't missed a year, and his form figures are very impressive. The field this week is weaker than the other years, certainly more so than the year he won. He comes here off a win, yet is no shorter than other years.
Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat are two local lads who will be giving their all. They have both had hectic recent schedules, but the buzz of the home crowd could give them that all important lift, and they are certainly playing well enough to be in contention against a field as low in strength in depth as this.
