it's not half as bad as they are making it out to be. It's terrible scaremongering especially when they have lowered the standards for these colour coded warnings.

Agree newapproach. They are are trying to make out that end of the world is nigh when there is just a bit of a strong breeze.

Exactly. It's probably very bad in Donegal but it's always wild up there. The accumulation of the rain in a couple of days will obviously have an awful effect but it's not that bad at any one time. People are battening down the hatches and planning to staying doors for the whole weekend based on their warnings and so far, they are completely unnecessary.

If the weatherman is right Sunday is the only good day for the next 4 or 5 days, but hope your right N.A.

Looking at the damage caused by the weekend storm on the news tonight I think I'd prefer to pay heed to the weather forecasters than their amateur counterparts on this thread.

True that tolmiBlush

There's doubt there was a terrible aftermath on the saturday. I just thought it was pre-mature to have all the the stay indoor bulletins on the friday when it wasn't that bad at that stage. It was the massive accumulation of the non-stop rain which caused all the damage which seemed unforseeable on Friday night.

W/R I see authorities may face an increase in legal actions from people whose property suffers flood damage due to the decline in availability of insurance cover, legal experts have said.

In October, the Swedish Academy announced that Bob Dylan had won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature.
Instead, Dylan will accept the award "in absentia," meaning he will indeed receive the award despite his inability to attend the December 10 ceremony.

Ernest Hemingway and Theodore Roosevelt also accepted the award in absentia.
