Louis Oosthuizen WGC. playing the high class events very well this year. Ollie Schneirjans, Barracouda Cham, looks the real deal and only a matter of time. Micheal Hoey Northern Ireland Champ, dire, dire field. M A Jimenez/Woody Austin Shaw classic, tricky event and hence two sel. surely ought to be up there.
1E ew yankee with PP (Woody) gets a new house(not Dublin) with a e235,000 return and with Jimenez will just have to settle for the bare 6 figures. Good luck with yours,a good two weeks coming up.

Selections,
Rickie Fowler e/w 16/1,
Adam Scott e/w 16/1,
Sergio Garcia e/w 28/1,

Ha Huddys, the glass is more than half full. See Rory may play next week,he is going over anyway. They gave a good insight into golf pundit Steve Palmer on Britain's at the bookies( bbc player episode2),i thought he knew his onions but his discipline was very poor, worth a watch.

kingrat , the golfing threads on here have a good record , worth keeping an eye on .
Personally I am not looking for winners of tournaments , if you check back over the last couple of years only Rory and Spieth have been predictable winners as evidenced by their world positions . But a lot of players tipped up on here have played well even if not winning .
What I look for are players who outperform their odds , back them pre play or in running and lay them back when odds shorten . You need to know your players though , some guys huff and puff and then fade , others keep playing their eyestrings out to improve their ultimate placing . Like most other sports , the deeper your knowledge generally the more chance you have of winning a few quid .
And at least the golfing threads on here are civil .

Most of the guys on here know their onions . I tend to make up my own mind though , largely based on in running observation . Most of those who trade in running keep a note of those deemed to be "chokers" , not a word I like , but its a bit like short runners at the horses , some guys inevitably manage to lose .
I generally am looking for short prices to lay , particularly if someone is not a regular top player . The markets in running on here on the last days of a lot of tournaments offer opportunities . Often the markets hit over the 100% , but requires a bit of nifty fingers and a bit of nous , particularly with the fast pics guys to compete against , as there is often an element of editorial selection re timing and selection of what they show us . Radio often ahead of what we see , for tournaments with radio coverage , such as The Open .

Close but no cigar last week, hopefully a bit better luck is in the offing this Sunday.
Two cracking weeks of golfing action ahead, tainted only slightly by Rory missing at least one of them, and Tiger missing the week where he may have felt a comfort factor which could have led to 4 solid rounds.
The Bridgestone is an event littered with classy winners. The stat that 19 of the last 20 winners were Major winners was eye catching. True Tiger winning it 8 times slightly skews it, but it shows this event takes some winning, and a rag is more unlikely than most weeks.
The first price that jumped off the page at me was the 35-1 on Louis Oosthuizen. Quite how they came up with that is beyond me. Firestone demands accuracy off the tee, and length with it. Louis needn't have bothered hitting tee shots for the vast majority of the British Open. They should have just allowed him plonk it a mile down the fairway on the middle strip. He is a class act, who doesn't shirk under pressure, who has shown he can tame this beast. If he is inside the top 12 on putting stats this week, he will be very hard to beat.
Sergio Garcia surprisingly never really hit it off with this venue. Until Friday of last year when he produced a superb 61. He has hit form of late, throwing away another major winning opportunity on the back 9 at St. Andrews and producing a quality last 54 holes the week after. Like Louis, he doesn't always convince with the putter, but his driving will put him the box seat on most holes, and though cut from initial quotes, I believe he should still be quite a bit shorter.
Matt Kuchar wasn't someone I had intended backing this week, but quotes of 45-1 on someone who could have had a couple of titles here but for poor Sundays, and who seems to have finally found his best....just look too big. As ever, he wont be one for trusting until the winning putt is holed, but in a limited field, at 11-1 a place I think its excellent value.
David Lingmerth doesn't fit the bill as a potential winner of this event. A debutant, who has no real experience of the top level, its asking a lot. But its a course which I am convinced he will contend at, and quite possibly win at over time. Given his outstanding recent form, and bits of 100-1 on offer, it would seem silly not to include him.
I don't like the 6-1 on Jordan Spieth at all this week. I know he seems to contend on nearly every course, but if there was one you would nominate as not being suitable, this would be it.
Its quite possible DJ will rebound in style and get the win he has deserved lately, but given his penchant for throwing away winning positions, he is not for me at the prices.
Bubba has rarely contended here, and Henrik Stenson infuriates the life out of me on the greens.
Jim Furyk at the prices would appeal more than those 4, but he may just lack the length off the tee, and bottle on Sunday, to quite get the job done.
As such I was torn between Justin Rose and Adam Scott as my final bullet. I expect both to be right in the mix.
Scott was pretty sublime over the weekend at the Open. Like Oosty, he seemed to have the ball on a string, and crucially was holing a few putts. It seems to be beyond argument that Stevie Williams gives him that bit extra belief when on the bag, and as a past winner here and given how good his game looks at the moment, I felt compelled to back him.
I may add Rose before the off if he drifts a slight bit on the machine.
1.6pts e.w Adam Scott 18-1 1pt e.w Louis Oosthuizen 35-1 1pt e.w Sergio Garcia 33-1 .7pt e.w Matt Kuchar 45-1(60 on here represents a great trading opportunity IMO, and I will add extra for that purpose) .3pt e.w David Lingmerth 100-1
The 11-8 on Louis for Top S. African also looked huge. I would still back him at the current 6-5 to beat Schwartzel and Grace.
5pts Oosthuizen Top South African 11-8

Only back the majors normally and see sick over louis in the British open. However this week have going to give it a go.
Harrington: Good form on this track when he was in form and is playing decent. 175/1
Jim Furyk: In good nick and good form on this track.
Kaymer: In good form and is due a big week soon.

Case of what could have been for you Callit. Your pick of Furyk Anfield makes sense alright, Rose had a great round for you yesterday Newsapproach. To have some interest myself did Shane small ew 1st 3 tonight, heart ruling head a bit but 2 shots back to admittedly world class players be hoping is enough of a buffer for the place part anyway. Best of luck tonight.

The missed tiddler on the second hole could set the tone for Rose round. The type that needs a good early putt to get the putter going. Two missed so far, other left short, and now the driver misbehaving. He will have to rectify all that very soon.

Rose driver gone to pieces. Jimbo fuc*ed. If Bubba had of missed that par putt, Shane would have been in really serious position.
Still in fine shape. And looks to be enjoying it. Though the drive on 10 is obviously still a worry, even though he made a bird from it.

Cracking effort form Lingmerth again this week. The markets are still ignoring him, but he really is a force to be reckoned with on these tougher layouts. Probably fall just shy of top 5.
He is Pa. But its a bloody tough course, and he is handling it very well. Took his medicine there.
Rose putting the difference between winning and not.

Really hope he wins it , it will propel him to new heights , and comes at the right time in his carrer.still has a great chance even after that bunker shot.

Ya, very nervy. Hopefully Bubba doesn't make any further inroads. Jim doesn't look to have a rally in him. I could better than Rose using the fuc*in sweeping brush.
Gewon Shane!!!!

He's been on it all year.....but didn't have a penny on him this week til a token bet before play tonight.
Money cant buy that tonight though, pure class. Great to see.

Great warm up from a rusty Jordan Spieth on a course that doesn't suit. I just love the amount of times he birdies his final hole. Reminds me of someone!!

Jordan is numero uno imo as you said this was never his course, next week shaping up to be a cracker with Rory back and a bit of a bias towards the "bombers" (i think) which will put an other few in it. Missed the Tiger here this week,he owned this one for years.

KR if its trades you're looking for, I have laid Jason Day at 15, Bubba at 17.5 and Brooks Koepka at 50 for next wk.
Still available. Not one of them will start that short.
Half a mill matched at mo, so enough liquidity there for you to make a few quid before the off. But wit til late Wed to take your profit.
Not a prayer of them starting shorter.

The world and his mother has tipped up Day which has seen his price collapse. I cant believe Bubba has got so short. Yes he had a good week last week, but he was 34 before that. Typically the mad rush to get on will see ones price go below what it should have been, which is what I think 17.5 was. Then the layers take advantage and the real price is found. In this instance, Bubba has continuously shortened. In my opinion he is far too short now, and wont trade out pre event.
Yep, I got it wrong, but I still think the prices are too short, and am tempted to top up on the lays. Obviously any of the 3 could win, though I don't think Koepka has the bottle for a major yet, but everyone has a price, and these 3 are too short in my eyes.
Its all about opinions, and I'm glad I have one.
