Seems a crazy decision.

He was struggling big time before the injury with 12 wins from 148 rides in 2011-12, 10 wins from 133 rides in 2012-13 and 3 from 27 rides in 2013-14. That is nothing like enough to make a decent living from it and it is very unlikely that this will improve as he will have it all to prove now.

He clearly loves his profession and has made a huge effort to come back, but securing a role as a workrider or assistant trainer might have been better. It reminds me of Matt O'Connor who had a more promising career, but never established himself again. He seems to be doing ok in bloodstock though.

Best of luck to him tomorrow, but the risk/reward seems wrong in this case, but passion for the sport must be prevailing.
