Giving this lad a final chance tomorrow, he has not shown the same level of form this year so far.Looked a picture the last day at the Curragh but found zilch.Maybe the Champion took more out of him than we realised, hope he comes good tomorrow in a very tough race.

lost a fair sum on him the last day.. thought he was gonna swamp them for a few strides. a very flat run.and the stable really fancied him.
Not sure the first time visor can work the oracle but it might wr.
I believe free eagle is different gear to all of these tbh but is he ready is the question. Last years Gatsby would be a short price. GAILO CHOP would be interesting if he got an easy lead, some serious form there, perhaps a bet i-r but free eagle just has so much potential and looks to have his ground, he also went well in his debut so fresh could be another plus, he also races handy.

Free Eagle was in serious form before the setback, really strengthened up since last year, and looking the real deal. No update since, but I am more than prepared to put my faith in DKW.

I'll swerve him. In an interview on RTE at The Curragh the trainer said the horse liked it out east, it renewed his interest. Translation: he has lost interest.
And I thought the horse looked pudgy at The Curragh. Perhaps he wasn't training well.
The trainer said that day the target was Royal Ascot.
I place laid him at The Curragh and backed Al Kazeem.
Today I'll just watch him. He might be back.

Well done kincsem on that nice win in the Curragh, amazing how these guys are always taking a watching brief before a race like today , but seem to enjoy tremendous success in races that have finished .
Back to the original topic, wonks I know you get money soft but that's no excuse for firing it away all the time . The grey gatsby is an absolute screw, is trained by a guy who wouldn't train a dog to sit down, and has been rejected by Ryan Moore. He was never that good a horse and he isn't even genuine now, as he's even started to play up pre race. Now you will have clowns saying Moore had to ride for stoute, well as you can see from what's happening this year, Moore can ride for who he likes. Gatsby is a million wonks, keep your money in your pocket for the next race at least.

Kavie while I happen to think Ryan is a decent trainer. Your argument is rubbish. There are plenty trainers who are hopeless and still have plenty of owners. P Rothwell being one. Must have 50-60 horses in training so yes most owners are clowns who haven't a clue what's going on.
comparing rothwell with kevin ryan is a rubbish argument like comparing chalk and cheese.have u ever seen kevins place?go on the website.its magnificent.hes a self made man.and its not too easy to get to the level hes at without being very talented..not too many lads can start from the bottom and get to where he is.a few born with silver spoons in their upperclass mouths can bluff away for a few years but they are eventually found out..
I don't rate any North of England flat trainer kavvie, or jockey for that matter. It's just not proper racing that these guys are involved in, the only possible exception would be maybe Mark Johnston , but even he struggles to be competitive in any kind of a race further than a mile. Ryan comes across as a woodner when he's being interviewed , he's certainly no John Gosden now is he?. Looking at today's race and you have Stoute Weld gosden lellouche etc, are you trying to tell me that Ryan is on a level playing field with them . To me Ryan would be on a level playing field at Ripon today, that's his level.
he trained 157 winners in 2014 not bad for a woodner!! just because hes in the north coesnt mean ripon is his level its just hes nearer to it!! hes well able to take on the big boys given the ammo

Gatsby strikes me as the type that will run 3rd, 4th or 5th in any race (could see him first 6 in the Arc), I think he lacks a gear at the business end possibly.
The Irish Champion was set up for him last year for the simple fact Joseph had no regard for him and was happy to give him a target. I've come to this realisation after his last two defeats obviously!

Was in Hambleton last week and couldn't believe how near the road his yard is Kavvie,the pub is almost attached to it.The hill up to it is unreal its called Sutton pass how they get horseboxes up it is a miracle .Mayfield I'm inclined to agree about this fellow Gatsby but taking the chance that a horse that was so good last year still has something to show,although recent evidence says otherwise.

Mayfield, hes the top rated horse offically and by the R/post ,so you have to respect his chance, thing is, i have a uneasy feeling that he might just have fallen out of love with the game. So its the last chance saloon.Welds F.E. is full of potenial but has to do it,Ercot was a smashing horse last year, backed it in the Arc. Its a race that has all sorts of possibilities.
He might have looked a picture the last day but he was well overweight and was prepared poorly for the contest. Was it not apparent he was carrying plenty of condition in the paddock?
Should improve plenty for it but whether Ryan can get the job done with a high class middle distance older horse is debatable.

Temlett, doubt it was VERY overweight for a G1 worth 155,000 , Maybe it was overweight in Dubai but to say it was overweight at the Curragh is wrong imo. I'm not privy to the horses racing weight, it should be on the racing card to aid racegoers just as it is in Greyhound racing.Maybe you are, but to most observers he looked fit at the Curragh.

Just saw it, Temlett was right, Ryan has probably been very circumspect with how much work he had given TGG for the Curragh as he hadn't had one like him before.
What a performance from Weld's though. The trainer needed a horse like this and to win a real blue chip Group 1. Great performance, I didn't hear the comm but saw the pictures on live stream, looked like that might have been as quick as he wants it?
I take back what I said about TGG to a large extent, but FE is a much pacier, more tractable horse and I could see TGG being done again at relatively short odds.

The gatsby wasnt robbed cheltenham, poor management by the connections has cost them the race. When Ryan Moore wasnt available, there was still the world of jockeys they could choose from, why would anybody want anything to do with Jamie Spencer.
The horse ran a blinder, much better than I thought he would, and anybody who backed him can blame nobody except the person who gave the go ahead to book Jamie Spencer.

Smullen gives everything he rides some ride, thats the difference between winning and losing. Smullen is a winner who uses his brain and Spencer is a loser who has no brain.
Exactly wonks, it should have won and you have to deem yourself very unlucky there. Had no bet in the race but if i backed your horse, id be going mental.
you cant blame the jockey for that ride, he had a bad position in the race and the breaks didnt happen at the right time, was the moral winner so to speak, the winner had decent enough form. channel 4 went over to ireland to interview d weld at his home for a reason. the way they deliver their tips on that show ( read between the lines)

On the day Gatsby should have won, Ilwab, the winner is a smashing horse and did what he had to do, but on the day swop jockeys and Gatsby wins a lenght.
