Commentators seemed to suggest they were playing a lot better than they looked, but they seemed to be bouncing all over shop on even 6 ft putts to my eye.
I say Rory could chuck it in if gets off to another poor putting start tonight. I be happy enough if Shane is the only Irishman to make the weekend!!

DJ prob too thick to remember what the 5th green was like, when he tees off on the 6th. Could be a help!!
Would much prefer see Stenson win that DJ though. No financial involvement in either, but Stenson a funny fuc ker, and I certainly wouldn't begrudge him his big one.

Shane is playing superbly tee to green, really enjoying himself. Cracking interview after his round yesterday, his attitude a lesson to the likes of Poulter.
Was disgusted at not backing Spieth pre tournament. Was the first name on the team sheet initially, and I left him on the bench. Shrewd!!
Had a few quid on today, to give myself an interest, and because I really want to cheer for him. Class act.
7pts Spieth 3.4
Could be some serious swings over the next 30 odd holes. Be great if Shane can put himself in with a chance tomorrow.

Do you think he has the Mentality as well as the ability to do it Callit? I wouldn't be a huge Gold fan but have thrown a few quid on Shane for a bit of interest as thought his odds were too big given he's only 3 behind, Haven't really seen that much of him tbh thats why i ask.

I don't know myself tbh Chelt. He probably doesn't know himself either.
Lets hope we all get the chance to find out.
He has talked a good game this week, and being out of the limelight of the last couple of groups could be a blessing in disguise. I wouldn't be mad keen on the bottle of any of those in front of him barring Spieth. So as Clerk says, if he lobs in a 69, well it could get him a playoff.
One under through 5 would be a lovely start. He be in the mix then, settled into the round, and pre round nerves allayed. Lets hope its not an anti climax for him....and us!!

Cheers Callit,Will be watching with interest but cant see myself staying awake till the death!! Best of luck with your picks,Lets hope he does it for Ireland! Wasn't so long ago he was having a rant on Twitter for been refused entry into the Shelbourne!!

Suppose the danger WR is that Luiten will be playing for a top ten, Reed will still be gunning the win. He may get the reward for being gung ho, but its not really the course for it.
Good start for Rory today. If he holes that putt on the third, he could ignite. Not what I wanted. Was hoping he would shoot couple over, and leave Shane with an easy task to finish off Top Irish.
Rory has played well enough to win this week. I know everyone is missing putts, but Rory has missed bucket loads of 50-50s. I cant wait for St. Andrews!!

For all the complaints about the golf course the cream is at the top and it's going to produce a good finish. Think the complaining has been way over the top.

I've the matchsticks out myself, bad miss there by Rory, the story of his week, still -1 with whats left would give him a good shout with faster greens later, hopefully Shane can get back on track after that approach.

Poor putt Shane...tricky return. Be sick if he misses that. Thrown away some silly shots today.
Grace dodged bullets there.Massive par, and Spieths bird putt had looked in.Poor putt Shane...tricky return. Be sick if he misses that. Thrown away some silly shots today.
If Shane makes bird on 16, I fancy he will get in on 2 under. I would worry for his tee on 17 if he doesn't.
Spieth looks very nervy. Was utterly dominant at Augusta. Pressure is a lot different when its in the melting pot. Grace is ice cool at minute. Intriguing.

Cant believe Shane gonna bogey the last. Birdie, like everyone else, gets a share of top 6 at worst. Bogey shares top Irish pot with Rory.
Spieth finally finds one. When it matters. Cant believe Shane gonna bogey the last. Birdie, like everyone else, gets a share of top 6 at worst. Bogey shares top Irish pot with Rory.
Went 1.06 after holing 16, riveting indeed and for all the criticism of the greens one of the best major finishes in a long time. How can Dustin still be in with a shout ?

Rory will win the British Open. Spieth winning tonight makes it all the more certain in my eyes. Rory will be hell bent on stopping the rot. And in truth, he probablt played the best golf this week. St Andrews, 5-1, 6 places.....its time to start saving!!

The top 10 and ties have their tickets for the 2016 US Open at Oakmont CC. Jordan Spieth collected a 10-year exemption into the US Open while 10 others can schedule a trip to Pennsylvania next year. This includes T9 Shane Lowry in his best finish in this event in three tries and matches his career best in a Major (2014 Open Championship) in 10 starts. The other qualifiers in 2016 are T2 Dustin Johnson & Louis Oosthuizen, T4 Branden Grace, Adam Scott & Cameron Smith, 7th Charl Schwartzel, 8th Brandt Snedeker & T9 Jason Day & Rory McIlroy.

By finishing inside the top four plus ties, these are exempt into the 2016 Masters with Jordan Spieth (winner), T2 Dustin Johnson & Louis Oosthuizen, T4 Branden Grace, Adam Scott & Cameron Smith - the 21-year-old from Australia - It's his best finish in just 10 PGA TOUR starts, all this season. And he punctuated it with a masterful second shot to tap-in distance at the finishing hole for eagle. He also qualified for Special Temporary TOUR Membership, which rewards unlimited sponsor exemptions (of which he was out), unlimited starts and a spot in the Beyond 150 Reshuffle. The T10 spot will also exempt him into this week's Travelers Championship should he make the trip (100/1 1-6P with Stan J).

@ Callit(and other Rory open backers), Rory damaged his ankle after a football kickabout on Sat. seen a photo of him with it well strapped up and on crutches so certainly wouldn't be playing much, mightn,t matter too much but i'd be cautious until i'd know more about the extent.

I had a barrage of messages on the phone this morning about that. Shame. Will detract massively from the event if he does miss it. Call me a sceptic, but I wouldn't be surprised if the injury was nothing much at all, and he just would rather miss the Scottish. With a valid excuse. I am more than likely wildly wrong...but I do think he will play at St. Andrews.
One other thing, are all bets struck not NRNB?? Or are the rules different before the final line is declared?
Strange Rory can be backed at 15 so. If he plays he's 6s tops, if he doesn't play, those laying at enhanced prices don't benefit anyway.

I would have thought he would be nrnb myself, know with horses it is different but i can see your concern regarding what you call the final line. Wouldn't only qualifiers be in the market anyway and always a nrnb with them to my knowledge. Possible danger if he does play is aggravating it on some shot, think that has to have some bearing on his price if he tees off but i'm no doctor and unsure of the actual implications of the injury.
