This is the Liberal chant,we must remove the stigma.

We must remove the stigma of illegitimacy and look at the disaster that has turned out to be.
It has encouraged it,now we have all these permanent adolescents fathering children but still behaving like children, they don't provide for them as the State does that for them.
Its now become a lifestyle choice for some women,no need to look for a pesky job.

There is however a stigma that the Liberals like, they like this in their usual intolerant totalitarian way.
There is never a call for the removal of the stigma of smoking.
Its the opposite in fact, they are falling over themselves to bring in new laws to curb smoking.

Shocked I thought you didn't believe in mothers working?? They should be at home looking after the kid/s should they not? Grin

I never said women shouldn't work.

Some women may stop working when their children come along ( good for the children ) but it should be entirely their decision.

The natural order should be work marry have children, its now have children first and we now know what a disaster that turned out to be.

Would you ban smoking ?

I partially agree with you on this about some having kids and just living on the scratcher, pretending they're single mothers to get free housing when their partner actually lives with them etc...................

I don't agree you have to be married to have kids (would be pretty hypocritical of me), as long as you can provide for the kids I see no problem

As for smoking I have never even tried it, both my parents smoked growing up until my father got cancer (thankfully beat it), it is a disgusting habit if you ask me, would I ban it, only in public places, what people do in their own homes is their choice

We now have forty years of research on single motherhood and its a disaster for the child.
That's not to say you can't have exceptions, not to say you can't have stable relationships without marriage.

The destruction of the family started with the subsidisation of illegitimacy it will probably end with a Yes vote on Friday.

By 'research' I take it you mean 'personal observance'.

There actually is plenty of research on the subject, I doubt you have read any of it.

Growing Up with a Single Parent:  What Hurts, What Helps
by Sara McLanahan and Gary Sandefur

According to McLanahan and Sander, being raised by only one's mother or father is but one
of several things that can undermine a child's chances of future success.
Living with a single parent does not doom a child to failure; many children
from one-parent homes grow up to become productive adults. the problems often associated with children who
grow up in one-parent families--poverty, failure in school, and juvenile
delinquency--cannot be attributed to single parenthood alone
