The former general manager of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing will lead Horse Sport Ireland's new international marketing division

HORSE Sport Ireland has announced the appointment of Elaine Hatton as international marketing director.

Beginning on June 7th, Hatton will lead a new international marketing division within Horse Sport Ireland, the creation of which was recommended in the industry strategic plan Reaching New Heights. The division will be funded from an additional allocation made to Horse Sport Ireland by Minister Simon Coveney in the 2015 budget.

Hatton is currently the general manager with Irish Thoroughbred Marketing (ITM) which promotes Ireland as the leading source for the production and sale of quality thoroughbreds worldwide

This seems a very strange state of affairs in what can only be a demotion for the ITM GM or perhaps found the HRI role intolerable?

2013 HRI Annual Report:
In many ways 2013 was a year of
stabilisation. The economy stabilised
and showed signs of improvement in
the latter stages of the year which
fed through to results. In addition,
stability within the organisation
has been established based on a
clear strategic plan for the future
combined with the recruitment of
several key personnel during the
year.  This stabilisation provides solid
foundations to build the business
throughout 2014 and beyond.
