Never mind the number of second string horses like Milsean etc and the numerous Bumper horses. I remember the days only a few years ago when all the major prizes headed back across the Irish Sea, now we have come full circle where we are winning everything we put our mind to in the NH sphere. 4 winners at Aintree yesterday? and none from Mullins. However at home Punchestown is going to be dominated with short price Mullins runners all going to be long odds on maybe 1/2 to 1/4 for the majority of them. Obviously there will be a few disappointments as horse racing is horse racing but this level of domination makes the biggest racing festival in this country and bit of a wish washy affair for me.
But in saying that we are in the midst of some great horses running in Ireland and I guess I should be thankful that I am seeing some incredible horse racing feats before my eyes. Where Aidan O Brien has put some much wealth in my pockets throughout the years with incredible training feats such as Mount Nelson winning the Eclipse, Rip Van Winkle doing a steering job in the Sussex Stakes at 6/4 etc. or even bringing **** to win the Goodwood Cup a few years a shade over evens those were days with wealth and the love of the horse combined for some great life moments in this game.
I guess I should shut up and lump on Mullins as he has done great work for my wallet over The Festival 2015 but Jesus I would Mouse Morris to get a great horse like Vautour or Henry De Bromhead to get a Faugheen or Gordon Elliott to have a Douvan but a world as fickle as Horse Racing Willie Mulllins deserves his success......remember Glencove Marina or recently Sir Des Champs or those horses like Flash of Genius who completely went the wrong way.
Irish Racing is in a great place right now......while The Curragh is still a dump and the HRI are doing a terrible job all across the board at least the Jockeys, Trainers, Horses and bloodstock do the talking where our Authorities are hopelessly ineffective.
