Sounds crazy?
Most people won't even know Australia are competing in this year's Eurovision, the 60th Anniversary, which has led to ESC bosses extending a special guest invitation to Australia for this year's party celebrations. And what an entry our friends from Down Under have unearthed here. The singer, Guy Sebastian, the first winner of Australian Idol in 2003, has since released 8 studio albums, accumulating 42 platinum and 3 gold certificates.

Make no mistake Guy has a sensational voice, and this number allows him to display it in full glory. Easily the performer with the BEST voice in this year's contest, Guy and his team on hearing they would represent Australia at Eurovision, decided to write a brand new song for the contest. And what a beauty they have unearthed. Written in 72 hours, it is a contemporary R&B party song to match all party songs, which will fit in perfectly with this year's 60th year celebrations, with a great hook, piano intro, trumpets, backing vocals, the works. I can just picture Terence Trent D'Arby dancing in the aisles to this. Still available around the 11/1 mark on here (12.0), this represents a nice bit of value, and should be very difficult to barge out of the Top 4/5, when we look at his main competitors:

SWEDEN: 4.6 - A rough start to this song, which is saved by the projection mapping stage show, and the singer's strong vocals, good looks, and dance moves, plus the fact that this song just sounds different to the others. The one to beat, and will be a big hit with the kids.

ITALY: 5.2 - A beautiful, powerful build-up to this one, but too much shouting for my liking in the chorus, plus it's not sung in English, makes me pass.

ESTONIA: 5.7 - This was going to be one of my first picks before all the songs were known. It's a nice song, the problem I have with it is the stage presence, and bonding of the two performers. It's quite cold, and can see it being left behind by the more gregarious efforts, when it comes to the crunch.

FINLAND: 13.5 - Punk rockers with disabilites. Great that these guys are raising awareness of people with learning disabilities, but it should be 50/1...

SLOVENIA: 17.5 - In my Top 3. I LOVE this song. I love the quirky voice of the singer, I love the violins, the piano, the dance beat. It's the perfect song for me, being an alternative music afficionado. A serious challenger.

NORAWY: 28 - Pretty duet. I'm not 100% on the guy's falsettos at the start, but it's a beautiful song. I don't think the two voices are right for the song together. I do like the female voice a lot though.

Honourable mentions:
SPAIN: 65 - Love the voice and like the song, pity it's not in English.

ICELAND: 95 - I like this, bit of an Only Teardrops vibe to it, still I like this, smashing voice on the girl. Like to see her do well.

IRELAND: 370 - After doing us a favour, and winning Eurosong at 6/1, there will be no room for dodgy live performances here, for our Molly. Hopefully qualify at least on the strength of the great video.

CYPRUS 510 - I LOVE this guy's voice, I LOVE his look, I LOVE the song, I love the simplicity of it. It repesents everything I love about music. A beautiful voice matched with beautiful guitar chords. I hope it does very well.

So there we have it, Guy Sebastian and Australia to win Eurovision 2015, followed in by Sweden & Slovenia. GL if you play and enjoy the party.

Geography not their strong point,Israel have won it in the past.

Will watch it this year as we are represented by a talented young lady from Puckane.

Israel won it before text voting came in so not a relevant example.

Text voting now only amounts for 50%? anyway and the rest is jury based.  Kavvie's theory is, however, shot out of the water when you consider that in the last last 6 years, Austria, Sweden, Germany Denmark and  Norway have won.

Nice preview Roger, any chance of a link to see of your fancied songs so we can decide for ourselves?

Keen leader will be weighing  with his preferred power ballad, his musical taste is securely anchored in the early 80's.  When he does grace us with his presence, he is on an awful run of form, including recent Eurovisions.  There was a time when you could back him blind, it would be great to see him bounce back to his old form.  His main contribution of late has been to deride the poor racing enthusiasts on here.

I'm a little in love with Molly Sterling.  Not only is she from good stock, she is gorgeous and hugely talented.  Her tone is smooth, contemporary Celtic yet imbued with notes of heather infused honey; if she was a drink she would be a Drambuie, on the rocks with a twist..  As Louis Walsh would say, she's like our very own young Ellie Goulding (meets Norah Jones).

If I was a young man I would be composing love poems in her honour and sending her my blood-stained sweat-soaked 'S' jersey.

I think she will go well, I love her song, but perhaps it lacks a catchy chorus which will prevent it from winning.  Haven't seen any of the other songs.  I can see Grammys in her future in any event.

Here are 3 samples of 3 of her songs;

I agree with Roger about CYPRUS, a grand little number, worth a fiver of anyone,s money at 510/1,   Ozy point about the last 5 winners is correct..if the song is good  enough it can win [.eastern bloc countrys  or not]  .

good point kavvie. I'm hoping that the voters will not be biased against our Aussie brethern, and rather adopt the opposite approach, and GIVE instead of take, and embrace the brilliant idea of allowing a special guest on this 60th year, and HEAL THE WORLD.

paulie, I was of the same opinion as you for years. The whole thing is rubbish. HOWEVER, after closer inspection, I liken it more to a Class 6 handicap. There are rough little diamonds there if you dig deep enough. And consider the fact that the majority of the talent is talentless, which makes it even easier to pick the winners. Obviously, the voting and politics can put a spanner in the works of the best song, but nevertheless, there is plenty of room to get the odd one wrong. And you can always get a good laugh out of the brutal entries that take themselves seriously. All in all, it's a great party night, and at the end of the day, what is life but a collection of big parties......

I will add links to the songs for you Ozy.

Thanks for going to all that trouble, Roger, appreciated.

Have listened to all your highlighted songs and I have to say I find your analysis spot on for each one.  With the exception of Mr Cyprus's 'look'...I think his nose is fake and may be attached to his glasses.

Great to see the Betfair Irish Forum House Band representing Finland, I hope they will do us proud.

It's anther vintage year for Eurovision.  Quality seems to go up every year, its a while since it could be considered a bit of a joke.

I hear you with the chemistry and performance of Estonia, pity cause I like the song  Italy's is very good, but a little old fashioned.  Something haunting about Norway's entry, I like it too.

I think you have nailed the top 2;  Australia and Sweden top two, in that order, both crackers.  Will back both.

Will Australia host if they win?  Are the powers that be happy with them winning?  Can the Swedish guy bring that background visual with him, its very good.  Are any of the songs big hits already around Europe and do any of the acts have a significant Europe wide following?

no problem. Betfair Irish Forum House Band...Laugh

Australia can't host if they win from what I've read. Think they have to co-host. I'm sure the powers that be will be delighted if Australia win. The Swedish bloke is under fire for a) ripping off David Guetta's "Lovers of The Sun", and b) saying homesexuality is not normal....but he apparently cleared that up, saying his quote was misinterpreted, and he has since performed naked at a Gay Swedish festival...(you can't do more penance than that!)

Not up to speed with the followings round Europe. The ESC i-tunes polls should be up soon to show this.

Would it be the first modern RnB type song to win?

Enjoyed the fun video for UK entry  (looks like set in Cafe de Paris?) and its a catchy number, but the wrong genre for this competition, you would have to think.

Anyone who has the time could go back through your "Crumb from a Pro", Meydan Crumb, Mother Of All Nap threads, and see them there, or even your "Parting Crumb Tip - Cornelius which bombed out at 6/4 as well, when you said you would leave the forum, but somehow you are still on here telling everyone, every chance you get how great a PRO you are......the REAL pros don't start threads saying "Look at me I'm a PRO"....they just get on with it.....and put value bets, with reasoning behind them.....
