with the money being $punked on point to point winners would some of that not be better spent on Air Travel for the Big Guns on the day of the big races.

Current practice is primitive and has to be a big negative for most horses (admittedly a few seem to like it).

I don't know how much it costs to fly a horse over but I would imagine the prize money wouldn't justify it. O brien competing for huge sums when racing abroad, cheltenhams prize funds a lot smaller in comparison.

To keep up the pretense that it is sport I guess, and how it would look given there very very few stallion careers and the prize-money isn't that of the big Far East and middle-eastern Group 1s for instance.

It's the ultimate accessory but they don't want to be complete mugs in what they're spending? Though I could think of worse things given the outlay of Ricci already.

I can't see it being that costly, split across a few hosses.  Its a very short flight.  And it would only be one way.
