MOtherwell to finish bottom of the SPL. Still value in my book although the fancy prices are long gone and yes there was some lovely prices about but i could not put up the bet then, anyway worst team in the SPL with the worst manager is Motherwell, finished 2nd last season went bottom last weekend and should stay there. They are 15/4, 5/2, 9/4 all value they deserve to be jollies to finish bottom instead they are the outside of 3 in reality, only thing will harm us is if the manager leaves but having so much value built nearly factor that in.

Sorry to hear Motherwell are doing so bad Rocket ,its a place I have a soft spot for , mate of mine was from there ,one of the nicest people you could meet ,guy called Billy Straub  .Scottish champion flyweight in the 70s ,boxed against Ireland ..I'll not be taken up that bet for sentimental reasons ,good to see a betting thread ...

Fair enough WR, hope you're looking forward to the new LOI season, trying to get home for a few matches. Motherwell in a bad way alright, that price should be 11/4 btw not 15/4 had some gargle on board when writing this up last night Blush.

Rocket, what price do you make them on a 100% book ?

A couple of potential cracking matches this week.
Tomorrow Man City vs Barca,City seem in good form after netting 9 between Newcastle and Stoke,a bit indifferent before that,Barcelona were beat 1-0 by Malaga on Saturday. Think both teams would be happy not to lose this 1st leg,a draw looks the likely result to me,a speculative Man City/Draw on the ht/ft at what will probably be around 16/1 on the exchanges for me.
Thursday has the 2nd leg of Celtic vs Inter at the San Siro, early price of 4/7 on the Italians look short enough even though Celtic are a poorer team away, still deserved a draw on what was possibly one of the best 1st halves this season to watch, probably a small lay on Inter for me.

I'd have them in as jollies reb, between 6/4 and 8/5, certainly no bigger than the latter number and probably closer to the first if i had to make a book on it, but they're clear value in my book at all of the prices available.

Cant agree with you Pa that City would be happy with a draw, it should be a cracking game.

I believe Man C wouldn't be unhappy with a 0-0 draw as that would keep the tie very much alive. I'm sure Mourinho hopes they go through!

Rocket, haven't a clue about Scottish football these days but if your opinion is correct then M'well worth a bet at 2/1 or over. Don't think they are available at 15/4 anywhere though, but open to correction.

I suppose so Frank, though a draw never knocks a team out,i'd imagine City will be trying for a win but whether good enough i don't know.Think Thursdays match will be a better spectacle rather than believing the hype.
Nice to see a football thread anyway amongst the proliferation of Skiing and basketball threads Wink

Pa, it might turn out to be a better spectacle but the difference between the Champion League and the Europa League is huge in terms of importance to the club owners. Hard to believe that Inter Milan are a mid-table team in a poor Serie A now relative to the situation of both in the 1990s.

The Italians have fallen a long way in latter years alright Reb,think c4 used to televise their league a bit back,Premiership is obscene now and hard to justify it and a lot of unworthy media hype with it imo.
Celtic don't have the team/money to challenge other than the fairs cup but the atmosphere and trying last Thursday was pure unadulterated sport at its best(as was last nights golf).
A losers champion league would be a fair description of the competition but could well have another gem in this match all the same.

That's a real tricky match the Inter v Celtic, easier matches to pick from.

When it comes to football theres nothing quite like the Champions League, especially from the Q/Finals onwards, P.S.G are a hugh price at 38/1 ,I cant make up my mind about the top 3 in the betting; ibacked Barca at 6.2 a few weeks back but after watching them lose to Malaga at home im not so sure if there is  problems off the pitch with Barca, ihave a feeling  the C/league could be won by an outsider this year.[ outside the top 4]

Fair play putting up a bet for the bottom of  SPL Rock, you must have good knowledge of same, Keen Leader was a great man with bets like this.

Athletico Madrid look very big at 16-1 to me.

Quite how RM are 4 and AM are 17 is beyond me. Simeone has the hex over their great rivals at the moment. Granted Real won the CL last year, but Athletico nearly made off with that too. They have remained in fine form this year, and though a bit off the pace in La Liga, that can work to their advantage. If Barca can beat RM in The Classico in a couple of weeks, then both of them will be battling to the wire. AM will have one goal. The Champions League.

They are twice the price of Chelsea, yet I would back them at evens in a two legged affair.

Keen Leader put up winning bets based on reason, logic and knowledge.

This worthless piece has been plagiarised from some obscure Scottish football site.

as things happen Wildman you are being a little unfair on rocket.
he is spot on about motherwell being the worst team in the division at this minute in time. for the last two weekends I dipped into the weekend highlights package on bbc Scotland, and what sticks out is that motherwell are a team in crisis. barraclough, is a gent having met him, alas, not a man to handle a crisis, and I reckon the players never fancied him from day 1, in his case he never probably "had" the dressing room to lose it. last Saturday, they got beat by a freak early goal by Dundee, a cross that the goalie misjudged. the final score may have been 1-0 to Dundee, it does an injustice to the winners, Dundee were value for 3 or 4, and motherwell never looked like having a shot on target, never mind scoring...for motherwell think aston villa in the premiership. the tv analyst pat nevin said they had lost 7 on the bounce and in his words had no idea where the next point was coming from.

at 5/2 average they do look tempting for bottom, on form.  however, they remain level on points with ross county and st Mirren, and after the next 6 games, the league splits in 2, and having the largest squad of the 3, they may scramble out, possibly with a change of manager. up until 8 days ago ross county had assembled 12 points from 24 games, back to back wins may paper over their cracks, and at 6/4 given their thin squad, they would be the one to punt if you had to get involved. Inverness should beat motherwell this weekend.

if you want an easy pick up to help the Cheltenham warchest...........the irish Eurovision final is on Friday night...all 5 entries are poor......my reliable contact says that rte will be pimping song 4, nikki Kavanagh...8/11 to 1/1 depending where you shop.....should be 1/100......I have had a punt

the second fav, you might be interested to know Wildman, is what an rte insider described to me as a "west brit, left footer, private school educated, 16 year old from puckane"...........that's gives you  sense of the undertones in the background, just punt Kavanagh.

Cheers KL, i think Motherwell have been the worst side in the league for a while now although i was not able to tip it up before, i put them worst side in the SPL since they were beaten in Inverness around the time Bara came in. They've had just 19 shots on target in the 10 matches since Baraclough has been made manager, which is staggering considering they were chasing a lot of those games.

Why could you not tip it up before Rocket? Once you have your money on, what would be stopping you? Its not like insider info, where you don't want to scupper future gains.

I like the sound of that Puckane native, hope its a good song that's maybe written by Shane McGowan.

My Mrs is from that part of the World , they are mad into their singing really proud of their singing. When they rose up against the Soviet union it was called the singing revolution so i would imagine they will be going all out to win the Eurovision.

There might be 3 good tips on it too, frank. If you're following callit's tip on Atletico Madrid, I suggest you do it each way.
Cor als are going 18/1.
