I say this every time he races.....but I cant understand why Boston Bob is so short!!
Its a great sport!
All joking aside, its a very poor race. Lord Windermere will have one date in mind, and as such may benefit from Sundays run. I was very taken by how Carlingford Lough travelled into the race at Xmas, and having seemed to blow up there, may be the one to progress most and lift the prize Sunday.
Its a very poor standard all round on the Gold Cup contenders front. Wonder could PFN bring Kauto back for another whirl?!!

Sad how Cheltenham-centric the whole season is Norn. Would be amzing if Willie Mullins ran more these great novices of his here earlier in the season, and the English were to travel over here earlier on.
90% of the prize-money won by about 4 owners. NH is unrecogmisable from even ten years ago and while quality is probably better, it is certainly a lot less interesting, at least from a human perspective.

Ran them here against each other I mean, he is already doing that but with the best of them mainly Ricci owned, hey don't take each other on.
Vautour/Un de Sceaux could've been one of the great Irish racing rivalries.

Was just about to post same Callit, would love to see a few of them, especially over the intermediate distances become limited handicaps. Might be hard in an administrative sense slapping ratings on Novices that haven't done much but it would also encourage more honest campaigning in maidens.
Would also like to see races for Irish breds only as they have in France for their own. saw this on Irish bloodstock forum the other night and a lot of people thought it would be a big help to small trainers in enticing smaller owners. They've a big programme for mares now so maybe something can be done.

Like what the need was for that new Grade 1 at Naas was I don't know. Why couldn't they run at Christmas. Don't they have a similar one at Navan in late Nov/early Dec.

GREAT VIEWS LADS I ACTUALLY LOVE THE FACT THAT GIGGY RUNS HIS AGAINEST EACH OTHER AND THEY ALL USUALLY trying
BUT SUMONE POSTED FEW YEARS BACK THAT MULLINS/RICCI RUINING RACING NOT SURE THATS true BUT THE FACT THAT WILLY/RUBY DONT HAVE THEM TAKING EACH OTHER ON MEANS THE PAYING RACEGOERS DONT GET SEE THE BEST CONTESTS APART FROM GRADE ONES
NO DOUBT THE SYSTEM AINT GREAT AS EVERYONE INFATUATED WITH CHELT WHICH IMO IS WRONG

Yeah, that new Grade One at Naas beggars belief. I have no problem with Ricci, or anyone being a successful owner/trainer, but why the hell does there need to be a Grade One invented for every good horse in the yard??
If WPM is going to have them all, the programme should dictate that we see them face each other. He will still win most of the Grade Ones, but there would be fewer of them to win, and be a lot more competitive. Far more enticing to potential racegoers.

After his 1-3-4 in the Drinmore, Michael O'Leary (also won the Hatton's Grace with Lieutenant Colonel) of Gigginstown House Stud suggested he wouldn't be sticking around for the (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race. That was despite his Gordon Elliott-trained Delegate being well-touted, but these races are just a means to an end for the powerful owner. They won it though, but with another horse, 25/1 first-timer Identify Thief !
In the DELOITTE Nov Hdl (Grade 1) at 2.15 on Sunday. GOING, ALL IN !
Alvisio Ville (6/4), Identity Thief (5), Nichols Canyon (5), Windsor Park (9)in, Silver Concorde (12), Mckinley (16), Sempre Medici (20), Blair Perrone (33), Sub Lieutenant (33).

Looked a nice sort last time out beaten Snow Falcon.. Alvisio obviously won well last time can see him being short enough in the betting for the weekend. Any fancys for the weekend?

Doesn't make it a good race. Its not.
There wont be many better races this year
There will. Plenty. Just not in the 3m chase category. Its piss poor this year, and was the same last year. Just because last years GC was poor, doesn't make this years Irish Hennessy a good race for having its first two home.
On His Own, Lord Windermere, Carlingford Lough and Foxrock wouldn't be fit to lace Kauto or Denmans shoes. Both would give them two stone and a beating. Just because they are within a stone of the best around at the moment, doesn't suddenly make them stars. Run any of them in any of Kautos KG wins....they wouldn't have gone out on the second circuit.
Good race me arse.

Well kauto and denman have retired. So too is arkle. Its a proper grade 1 in the context of whats around now, as it was last year by the way. There are several thousand chasers in training. To describe the Gold Cup 1-2 as piss poor is absolutely ridiculous.

They are piss poor by the standard, there has to be a GC winner every year, but that doesn't mean we have to acclaim them. The best 3 mile chase run in Ireland in recent times was the Lexus of 12' with Flemenstar, Sir Des Champs and Tidal Bay. that pisses on this and it is okay to say that.
Good betting race and good race are too distinct things. I watch for the sport as well as the betting.

GC winner last year was widely acclaimed as the worst in a generation. The novice hurdle and the novice chase will outshine the feature tomorrow for many.

really?? Flemenster didn't get 3m in top company (barely), Tidal Bay was a bit of a monkey as we all know, QDLR was gone, Pandorama was gone, China Rock wanted better ground and Hidden Cyclone was running over a trip further than his best
so that was better than the 2013 Lexus which had Bobs Worth (reigning Gold Cup Winner), Sir Des Champs (Gold Cup runner up), Lord Windemere (RSA winner), First Lieutenant, Lyreen Legend and Unioniste??

13 Lexus was a cracker as well. Never liked Bobs Worth though.
In the build up to 12, no one knew for sure Flemenstar didn't get 3 miles which seriously added to the intrigue. Tidal Bay reformed under Nicholls and it wasn't certain how far he might go given his talent had also just been F'all intrigue about tomorrow, we know what they, it's just what order they finish in.
Can't think there is anyone going tomorrow that is massively anticipating the race with a view to seeing a superstar.
Newbury had two possibles today in the form of Coneygree and Mr Mole. We're looking at the same mediocre **** here for too long is all I'm saying. Staying Chase scene badly needs the likes of Vautour & Don Poli to step up next year.
