When does it start first weekend of Feb, not sure what sort of shape Sligo are in, can't imagine great seeing how bad the club football scene is there.
not sure about the league.not much intrest in it among gaa people.expect small crowds at dub matches of about 25000.other counties like kerry/tyrone/mayo/armagh.monaghan/kildare also get small crowds of 8/10000 there was only 11000 at the armagh tyrone game last sunday in the mckenna cup.the throw in was delayed 30 min while the crowd got in.the programmes(4000) sold out half hour before the match started..awful bad planning really.when is the fried chicken league starting does anyone know?

i think it's time to bring this thread back on a even keel,so to speak.
galway 4-1 nfl div 2
there is talent in this galway outfit and kevin walsh is the geezer to harness it.leadership qualities in abundance, tactically astute and will demand absolute commitment and will get it. it could be tight, the away game to down could be a particularly sticky wicket but if they are going to go anywhere?they have got to learn how to mix it.if all goes to plan the trade will be on in the last game to kildare.they have got kildare in tuam(a dump btw) or pearse stadium.
cheers and gl.

Am loving this whole new 'voice of reason' personna from Ratser. The 'fervent republican' personna did not aid his rehabilitation and well worth trying a new one imo.
He's a character, you can't take that away from him.

Aye, well, keep it like it is and don't be trying to extend it!
To think, Ratser, that so many people were convinced that we were one and the same. It's comforting to know the calibre of individual you are up against on here at times!

Not since 2012 has Cork hurler Paudie O’Sullivan had a full year free of injury interruptions. Having sustained a double-leg-break in the spring of 2013, his recovery was further complicated and it meant that it wasn’t until last summer that he was able to play for the Rebels again. In cameos such as coming off the bench to score a goal against Limerick in the Munster final, O’Sullivan showed flashes of what Cork had missed and he is eager to make up for lost time.
On Saturday, he continued his journey towards full match sharpness as he scored five points in Cork’s 4-15 to 1-13 Waterford Crystal Cup win over Cork IT. It bodes well for the year ahead, the Cloyne man believes. “This time last year I was having a lot of problems, with rehab and everything else,” he said. “After a good solid two or three months of preparation, it was great to get in a full game without any major problems. I’d say it was probably my first full 70 minutes in a year or two. “Especially this time of year, it’s great to come through a game without any pains or problems.”
Upon his return to action in 2014, O’Sullivan admits his impact was limited as he was not 100% fit but he feels hard work is reaping dividends now.
“Last summer, I was probably a good bit off full fitness, looking back at it,” he said. “At the business end of the year, I didn’t feel fully right. Through ignorance and stuff on my own behalf, I probably put myself in that position. “This time, I would say I am much sharper, much fitter, I’m after putting in a lot of good work with Dave [Matthews] and Deccie [O’Sulllivan] over the last few months. “I have a long way to go yet to be fully up to the 70 minutes of inter-county but it’s a start.”
Not that he specifically told the management that he should be playing in the Waterford Crystal.
“Obviously, I’m a different case to everybody else, I badly need 70-minute games. A tough, physical challenge against a good CIT team like will certainly do me no harm.”
Both Waterford Crystal Cup semi-finals take place next Saturday, Cork playing Clare in Mallow at 1pm and Limerick taking on UCC in Kilmallock at 2pm.

He's brillinat to be fair to him, easily the best gambler on here. I know he got serious abuse from Wildman and Pa when one of his bets lost once but you can't get it right all the time Frank, but he does the majority of the time, which is the most important.

Corn Uí Mhuirí quarter-final (all 1.30pm) St Francis College, Rochestown v Coláiste na Sceilige, Knocknagree
Rochestown, who advanced to the Dr Harty Cup semi-finals last week, face arguably the strongest of the second-placed sides. Shane Kingston, James Holland and Ben McAuliffe all shone in attack as they topped their group, while Adam Geaney and Seán Powter are notable defenders. Diarmuid Keating, Dilan O’Donoghue and Jack Daly are among Sceilge’s attacking threats, while Brian Sugrue and Graham O’Sullivan are other key players.
Verdict: Rochestown
St Brendan’s College v CBS High School Clonmel, Mallow
Brendan’s are fancied by many for the title having impressed in both the Corn Uí Mhuirí and the O’Sullivan Cup (Kerry SAFC), which they won before Christmas. They possess menace from all quarters and Micheál Burns, David Clifford, Lee O’Donoghue and Evan Cronin are their marquee names. Rory Maher, Paul Maher and Kyle Peters must shine if Clonmel are to spring an upset.
Verdict: St Brendan’s
Clonakilty CC v IS Killorglin, Clondroihid
Clonakilty are aiming to become the first former vocational school to win the Corn since the merging of competitions two years ago. They recovered from losing their first game to qualify as group winners and Ross Mannix and David Lowney are likely to be a handful for Killorglin’s defence. Killorglin had a great comeback to beat Coláiste Chríost Rí to finish second to Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne in their three-team group. They will look to the likes of Kieran Brosnan, Patrick Daly and Calum Teahan.
Verdict: Clonakilty CC
Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne v Tralee CBS, Lewis Road
Corca Dhuibhne are attempting to make it four Corn wins in a row. They came through their group without too much fuss but will be wary of Tralee, having lost the O’Sullivan Cup semi-final to them. Conchúir Ó Géibheannaigh, Cathal Ó Bambaire and Séamus Ó Muircheartaigh are standouts in attack, with Tomás Ó Súilleabháin and Cian Ó Murchú effective further back. Ivan Parker is Tralee’s main man while Jack Morgan and Mike O’Donnell can also contribute.
Verdict: Corca Dhuibhne
Dr Harty Cup quarter-final: Castletroy College v Pobalscoil na Tríonóide, Cahir, 1.30pm
A semi-final with Thurles CBS awaits the winners of this game, which was postponed last Wednesday. Apart from a defeat to Doon, Castletroy impressed as they topped their group, their team underpinned by the likes of Limerick minors Barry Nash and Andrew La Touche Cosgrave while John Nicholas can also hit important scores. Declan Dalton is the primary score-getter for Youghal, who can also call upon centre-back Darragh O’Brien along with midfielders John Paul Lucey and Matthew Farrell.
Verdict: Castletroy College

Limerick have serious depth in their forward line now with Lynch and Morrisey added. Just need a big-time ball winner in the half-forward line. Lynch will start Championship, simply too good to leave out
Half back line is a big problem though. Gavin O'Mahony has been out of sorts for ages and McNamara is very vulnerable to pace. Look very well set everywhere else bar those two issues.
