Not a bad type of year for the forum.

Poster Of The Year
Pa Lapsy in an Eclipse type situation, winner by a live long mile.

Thread Of The Year
Another runaway winner, the challenge between Kingrat and Pa Lapsy and what a challenge it turned out to be.
The Pa Lapsy victory was stunning, entertaining and done with some old style panache.
Other aspects of this thread will crop up later in the awards.

The Broons Award.
A red star type award so five pronged and appropriate
Vincent Browne,angry intolerant liberal
Gordon Brown, dull useless angry intolerant liberal
Mrs Brown,a foul mouthed vulgarian
Christy Brown,just foul mouthed
Chubby Brown,vulgarity his trade mark.

Ozymandius only one to qualify on all grounds.

Ferrero Rocher Award
This goes to Workrider for being such a good ambassador for Ireland on his many racing trips to England.

Coolmore Innovation Award.
Royal Academy for his excellent Tramore experiment thread.

Skibbereen Eagle Award.
Whilst the Eagle were keeping a close eye on the Tsar,MrTopNotch was keeping a close eye on me.
Well done MrTopNotch.

Schwarzenegger Award
This goes to the returning DJ876,I don't doubt his knowledge but the verbiage, the stilted mechanical rehearsed views on betting still remain as does the short temper.

Phil Hellmuth Award.
Joint winners here Rocketfingers and Ozymandius for the disgraceful way they tried to duck and dive their way out of defeat on the thread of the year.

Ted Kennedy Award.
Joint winners again,Rocketfingers and Ozymandius for their cheating again on the thread of the year, didnt work for them either.

Pricewise Award.
Plenty in contention but I couldn't split three.
Callitasucit consistently good and able to shine in for me the most profitable threads of all,the golf threads.
J R Hartley a rare contributor now unfortunately but gave some rare tips that all seemed to win,Groody Hill ( even though since disqualified ) at 20/1 one,Captain Joy a couple of times.
Huddys never let's us down, weighed in with a 100/1 golf winner this year.

Bumper King Award.
This goes to our own Wisden Norn Iron who tipped two 20/1 bumper winners in a row.

Dolly Parton Award.
Rocketfingers for his bit of knocking on the thread of the year

Incredible Hulk Award.
Only two runners here Tobywong and Premier Fantasy but this proved a no contest, the bad tempered Premier Fantasy wins hard held.

Prescient Award.
This goes to the absent Silvergreaser who on a thread about Dunquibs comeback stated " he was pumped up with a potent cocaine mix "
Cheltenham Roar was the only one to agree.

Mention In Despatches Award.
For decent contributions plenty need mentioning.
Punchestown,BJG,FreddieK,Richters,Frank60 and Frank The Tank.

Newcomer Award.
He might baulk at being described as a newcomer but made some telling contributions all year.

I am getting tired so starting to make mistakes, will leave it at that.

Thanks Wildman, very intelligent posters in the main on here,a lot know what they are doing and the pricewise of beating the odds is the acid test, good names there and Dinglemick does it in style too.
I've a half mad betting plan for the Christmas racing finishing on the 29th with a fancy if it runs,i'll have a go off it starting on the 26th and if it goes wrong it would be a bad award.

Wildman just seen Groody Hill was DQ from Fairyhouse.  Thought i was home and hosed on Barely Legal.  Backed it at 20,16 and 14/1 to win over €5K

Excited well done Borneo.

A terrible snub for Paulie Walnutts who I would have had in the runnning for Forumite for the Year.  A turn of phrase that you could sharpen a blade on, connections and knowledge and universally poplular despite telling it like it is.

That said there really can only really be one winner; Callit.  We should all be measuring our loss/profit on here in the open manner he does on golf, should be compulsary.

I cant imagine tony will be too happy with this snub.Shocked

Borneo snubs Tony every year, I have no idea why.

As the Forum's Meryl Streep (most nominations, most wins) I would like to pay tribute to Scouse Tony's essential contribution on here.  He makes every one else feel good about their punting and for that we are all eternally grateful.

If there was an award for decency Tony would win it hands down.

If there was an award for tolerance Tony would win it hands down.

There is a limit to the amount of awards you can have, plus I also got tired doing them.

There was no snub to Paulie Wallnuts 'twas the opposite in fact, don't disagree with Ozymandius summing up of him although would quibble with him being universally popular.
Paulie has moved up in that he used to get negative awards.

Definition of a Mug Punter:One who consistently believes in the veracity and accuracy of his opinion despite conclusive evidence to confute that sense of invincibility. This psychological flaw is confounded by a progressive staking system which ultimately concludes in a life time of busted banks and leaves the individual drowning in bitterness. It is the same psychological flaw that enables your mind to believe that only one outcome is possible.

I must say you particularly excelled this year as the self appointed Chairman,Jim Corr impersonator and tipster extraordinaire.
Your loyal disciples have dwindled to Pricewise Pa, the recently adopted Borneo Junior and a handful of other shrewdies.

By:

When: 24 Dec 14 16:00
Its like most of his opinions plagiarised,I think you used it first.

His language is that of a robot, there is no sense of a man enjoying his punting.
He has all these rules that have him tied in knots,no feel for gambling certainly joyless and ultimately unsuccessful.

The universally popular one may have been a bit strong Oz.....I think id have to row in with the man from Kilnaskully on that one.....
I see Dan didn't have a nutter of the year award.....suppose there would be too many entries....

The Guru Meela Mahagut award surely goes to wildmanfromborneo(so modest he even eschews a capital letter in his pseudonym).
The forum would be much diminished were it not for his constant supply of thought provoking  threads on a range of issues -threads which are full of conceptual substance ,intelligent theorising and perceptive analysis.
We thank you from the nether reaches of our collective cardiac organ

I think vubiant, as always makes a brilliant point about wmfb. But ozymundias must also be added to the general argument. Personally, I invariably disagree with almost everything he says. But together, himself and wmfb, provide the jekyll and hyde of the irish sports forum and they must be applauded for their entertainment, Happy Christmas to all contributors on the irish sports(and other topics) on the betfair forum.

Tis almost the 29th and a runner if the meeting goes ahead, bit better field than i thought but to balance that Fridays rain was what he wanted.

3.20 Limerick.
A quick look at some of the main players,
Abolithionist only gets 4lb for a well deserved win for his consistency, could well go back to back after that, the beating of Triplets Joy is decent enough form, the doubt with me is/was Sharks insistence that he needs better ground,he won't have that but won in soft last time.
Jupitor has decent enough form in chases,9lb better off here than them, ought to stay all day and has his chance.
Sarah Battle has a live chance on her just over 7L 5th to Abolithionist, some turnaround on the weights with them on that Punchestown race in May.
Mini Vic ran on well at Tramore last time to give him a shout also,not really gone on the rest of them except for the selection;
Zekarya 14/1.
Slow as a boat i think isn't too unfair, really think he has been plotted for this, loves the heavy and almost certainly had this race won last year til falling 2 out,he is also a stone lower rated over hudles.Decent price(thought Sarah Battle and Mini Vic should be shorter as well)really think he will run well, bit perverse but it is the race i most looking forward to over the Christmas period.

Sarah Battle definitely the best handicapped on several runnings and a sure stayer-should be seriously involved.

Good morning W/R, not sure what to make of it tbh,his stats have improved no end then a couple of years ago albeit in low class."Good ground is the key to this fella" said after winning on good to firm at Bellewstown, where would ya be going with comments like that.
