There is a kind of discussion here on what type of charities to give to. Now that we know more about their activities most people have correctly abandoned Rehab and CRC.
Crumlin children's hospital is a worthy cause but one I no longer support. Its the governments job to provide the funds for this hospital,if we do it for them they will just squander the money somewhere else.
Overseas charities are worse as the money is mostly spent on huge salaries and administration, even those earnest young collectors are paid.
We are interested in horse racing here so a very worthy charity is the Injured Jockeys Fund. If you are feeling generous or have had a decent win at least consider it.
very imperfect world as we know Wildman.....easy to pick holes in most charities.
St Vincent de Paul genuinely run by volunteers but the naysayers may claim its more money for Christmas drink. Living without money aint easy so we cant carp at what its spent on imo. Keeping it out of bookies clutches would be my one concern.
I have a relative working in an area where she sees the genuinely distressed and deprived every day of her life; long-suffering wives etc. I give her my donation and ask her to pay as best she can. Agree with you about IJF: never ceases to amaze me those heavy amateurs in points going full pelt in any conditions and you are standing 5 yards from them-its crazy!

donating to charities is a very personal thing, wouldnt expect anyone giving me advice on who to give my money away too, there you go, some people like to try and use their influence to brain wash you into giving to causes they are deeming to be worthy.
just dont forget to tick the tax box, the charities can then claim the tax back.

National charitys are a business now and profits will only be distrubited after the chief exc. and financial officer etc get their senior civil servant level salary plus polititon level expenses.

Another aspect of the charity industry is their connection with politics. David Milliband left politics to earn fortunes working for Charity. Barry Andrews left politics to earn fortunes working for charity. Fergus Finlay left politics to earn fortunes working for charity
It also works the other way, lots of former charity workers go into politics and are generally a disaster Joan Burton Ciara Conway. Anne Ferris To name a few.

I think this one is a little more serious than misbehaviour ,
Massive salaries while repugnant are probably lawful but the rest surely isn't.
11 in use credit cards mostly in the 3 family members names although some in the names of former employees.
Who was using those ?.
The items purchased on all cards include exotic holidays , restaurant s , designer clothing, groceries etc.
Up to six sets of different accounts depending on who they were for.
Councillor, s encouraged to seek donations after sessions and this money to be put in a box and sent to Kelly personally.
People charged for bogus suicideolgy courses with nothing at the end.
This is all fraud on a major level IMO.

Nothing will happen, there will be no charges, there is however a regulator drawing a fat salary and doing nothing.
CRC and Rehab were the same.Rehab so brazen they are suing the state.Nothing will happen, there will be no charges, there is however a regulator drawing a fat salary and doing nothing.
I know , it seems the regulator was never given any powers so is basically sitting on his ass drawing his salary since it was set up. I might be wrong but I think were on our second regulator despite no legislation put in place to give him powers.
So much for a new way of doing things enda.

It seems this individual was well known before he set up console for going around dressed as a priest and airline pilot.
If that didn't raise any flags when he was applying to register his charity I give up.
Johnathan Irwin among others was aware of this.

In fairness to him that's not bad and he has no top ups or pension.
He also didn't take a salary for the first six years after setting it up.

in many other countries retired politicians and titans of biz take leading roles in " charidees" for zero or token fees ..in Ireland it is but an extension of the gravy train ..huge salaries /extravagant expenses+ bureaucracies .the massive duplication of causes is also an issue...i will give them nothing but rather will support an individual ..even if its only dropping the local wino a score
