No hatred or spite on this thread from any poster, just reasoned argument and debate on both sides. There's no call for language like that. Just because someone has a different view doesn't mean they are hateful or spiteful.

Right fair enough if that's the point you were trying to make, then fair enough. It may have some merit although I don't think it makes them wealthier - it just means they spend their money elsewhere.

My interpretation of what you were trying to say was that gay people tended to earn more money and that wealthy people were more likely to be gay. I think we are both agreed so that it was not the case and not the point you were making.

The most worrying part of SYT statement is the bit that seems to go over his own head , when he wrote in his reply to Wildmanfromboreo ..That is simply NOT ALLOWED IN THIS DAY AND AGE ,and thats not me saying that ,HE then goes on as follows...THATS SOCIETY AND YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF TO LOSE THAT MIND SET ,a statement more in line with what ADOLF would use ...

its a sad state of affairs tbf.this thread is absolutely pointless if the views represented by wildman and his ilk are not allowed to be expressed.they might as well delete the whole thread and be done with it.

Thought it was a good thread in the main, most people were prepared to listen to others views while maybe not agreeing.
dlarssonf, i can,t get my head around how one man can "love" another man, honestly it is so alien to me,i,m sure others struggle, maybe Wildman and Workrider don,t either and i,m in no way speaking for them. It goes on,it is a persons choice and i'm not judgemental on those but i struggle badly "getting it". As said earlier i think they should get the piece of paper that says they are "married" if that is what they want,i do think it is a form of discrimination.
The fella in the north that didn't want to bake a cake for the two fellas getting married because of his religious beliefs now is facing a court case,i have every sympathy for him. If he is against same sex union he is entitled to his beliefs.

pa lapsy you can't get your head around it so what???  It's never going to affect you or harm you so whether you get your head around it is totally irrelevant.

What I can't get my head around is people who object to same sex marriages.  If they were been forced into doing it then you could understand, but two women or two men getting married in some part of the country is going to impact their lives how?  It's totally ignorance and bitterness on their part

Not sure it is right to just label people bitter and ignornant with out at least offering to correct those attributes on the points they have made, that to me is saying your view or no view,it is quite ironic.
Maybe so what indeed in regards getting my head around it,probably really should read up on it, the non impacting on anyones lives is a weak argument'so do you just vote yes on that?

to those who don't favour it I ask, what if one of your sons / daughters told you they where gay and wanted to marry their partner, just because you don't get it (I don't get it myself) would you vote no even if it is effecting your own child's happiness?

as long as you're not effecting others lives you should be allowed live yours as you seek fit and if they wish to marry each other who are we (or the bloody church) to stop them?

It's a weak arguement???? I am waiting on you to tell me how it is wrong for two men or two women to marry ??? How is it a weak arguement when it doesn't affect your life nor does it harm yo in any way!!!! The fact is there is no arguement of logical reason to be against gay people marrying.  I would be quiet happy to be proved wrong if you can bring up a valid point
By:

I never said they shouldn't be allowed to marry (14.27). On the contrary i believe they shouldn't suffer discrimination and it should be allowed. Maybe its an abstain though all the same as while the discrimination is there,it as you say doesn,t affect my life.
By:

I never said you were against it, but you said it's ok for people to be against it as it's their choice.  Granted it's their choice but to me there is no logical reason to be against it, apart from been ignorant or bitter.  As I said I would be perfectly happy to be proved wrong if a logical reason was provided as to why two people would need others approval to marry.

The fact that up until now that is not possible in this country is a sad reflection on what a backward mentality there is in this country. It's sadSad

dlarrson ,  your kind of attitude is typical of the liberal left wing gays , you don't say it , but your statement screams , do as I say and like what i like or else ...The dark side of all this is , people like you would take AWAY peoples choice ..As   Pa asked why should someone I.E. that couple who didn't bake the cake some gay person wanted, face jail ...They have in fact become tyrants , demanding all sorts of power and rights , like the other couple who ran a b&b in the UK  and refused to allow gay men stay in their home because of their beliefs , again they faced court ..There has been a massive shift in gays right to such an extent that NORMAL people are now suffering ...

You are talking utter crap workrider which you have generally done while trolling these forums the last few years.  Most of the time I tend to ignore your rubbish but just let me explain to you that I am certainly no left wing liberal gay as yo put in.

People like you throw the "PC card" when you have no sensible points to make so you throw out utter hyperbole like the gays have become tyrants.  I have no links with anybody , I don't tell people how they should live their lives. If are group of people are not causing any harm and are not some sort of burden they should be allowed live their lives as they wish.  They shouldn't have to change or live their lives as you would like.

And I am a normal person and I am certainly not "suffering" , just more nonsense on stilts that you seem to specialise inCry

God i think the guy should be in the slammer if he refuses to bake a cake for someone becuase of their sexuality, religion or what ever. Time for people on here to move with the times, give people equal rights and let them live their lives fgs. Anyone notice Richtters is staying out of this argument?Confused

Not causing any harm ffs tell that to the people facing the charges these gays are bringing against them , as for not getting your head around things , EVERY person no matter their sexual preference have issues , its called being HUMAN ..Its impossible to be loving and tolerant at all times , so before you run away with your holier than thou attitude remember that ...

Workrider - that post is beyond belief. Those views are going to get you in trouble.

You cannot refuse to sell something to someone because they are gay - doesn't matter if you're a baker or a B&B or whatever. Use of the words "normal people" and them suffering .... that's going back to the days of apartheid. That post is a blatant attempt at inciting hatred which I think is a crime.

Respect your views on the topic dlarsson, backward mentality in every race colour and creed, not sure Ireland/Irish would top that league and it is very refreshing to see how educated the younger Irish generation in particular have become.Your point in regards two people wanting to be together fair enough, that is the best of it,Workriders points do strike a chord also, you are labeled if you don't conform to a "politically correct view" in regards this topic and called the devil incarnate,no tolerance whatsoever if you don't agree and that isn't right either.(that last sentence isn't aimed at you dlarsson).

Pa lapsy I understand where you are coming from and I have respect for your opinion!!!  As for the other clown because somebody didn't sell cakes to a gay couple that means gays are causing normal people harm??  FFS what sort of idiot are you.  There is always isolated incidents with any group or walk of life.  Again it hasn't harmed you in the slightest nor will it if two people two hundred miles down the road from you are gay and choose to get married.  It's nothing to do with the "holier than thou attitude" which again is thrown in with the "PC Card" because you don't have a valid point to make.

Also if you can read properly I said people's views and people who can;t get their head around two men sleeping together has nothing to do with the bigger picture, nowhere did I say they shouldn't have those views, I said their individual views have nothing to do with the rights of two people who love each other and want to marry.

And soyouthink is correct, your views are an attempt, a lame one at that, to incite hatred.  You are nothing but a troll who is a narrow minded, ignorant clown

dlarr , the vast majority of the world is backward so , according to you ,this little backwater of ours has made giant strides in the recent past on all sorts of human rights , yet whole continents i.e. ASIA AFRICA not sure about AUSTRALIA ,most of N/SOUTH AMERICA are not exactly running around trying to have SAME SEX Marriages set into their constitutions ..So there are Billions not just Millions who feel the same way ..Europe on the other hand , are demanding all sorts of rights for people   .Your demands would be laugh at in most countries and you know it ,you are an abnoxious clown who demands more than his share and when he is not giving them cry's foul ...

If you are educated and have the views you have yes you are backward.  Most of Asia & Africa have nowhere near the education that most Europeans have so they have at least an excuse to be ignorant & uneducated, you on the other hand have no excuse you are just a bitter, narrow minded neanderthal.  Also you are right you have no clue about Australia, and I am certainly making no demands unless believing that we all should be treated equally is a demand.  But carry on because as usual you are making a mug of yourself

So in your eyes Africa and  Asia are uneducated , what a pompous prick you are , so according to you whole continents are uneducated  ,typical of the liberal left ..How dare you take that stance ..People on those continents may not have the huge modern buildings we are used to , they may not have the high tech we have ,but they have massive intelligence , for your information India is one of the new high tech countries in the world ,I think even YOU o great one will agree that , to master such high tech you need to be EDUCATED ..I could go on and on ,Mandela would be included in your uneducated criteria no doubt , a man who proved that a uni education is not needed when it comes to understanding mans inhumanity to man ..You really should be ashamed of yourself ...

I think you are twisting my words to suit your agenda.  To make it simple for you for seen as you are a simpleton.  Anybody who thinks its ok to not sell a cake to somebody just because they are gay or anybody who thinks that gay people should not have the same rights as non gay people is an utter moron and uneducated.  HOPE THAT HELPS.

Also I will take into account the fact that you are one of the thickest people  to grace this forum I will point out for the second time that I am not a liberal left and just because somebody doesn't agree with your moronic views does not mean they belong to that group. Again I HOPE THIS HELPS simplify the matter for you dumbo

My opening post is all that survives and how true it has turned out.

There is now only one view allowed.

The thread is still very revealing,it shows huge intolerance.

So You Think is subtle but throughout his posts are vague threats," these views are going to get you in trouble " " your mindset will have to change " " you are lucky Betfair allowed that comment "

dlarrsonf isint subtle at all,his opening gambit is just an attack on differing views, this is followed by name calling and the labelling of two continents as being backward and uneducated.

The cake story came from the North,a gay group deliberately made an order for a wedding cake from a small bakery whose owners were loyalist and religious, they politely declined and a complaint ensued,it was manufactured ( the complaint that is )
The relevant body heard the complaint and dismissed it.
