Just to get away from grubby stuff from the tabloids , watching ATR at present , Michael Dickenson interview .

MD said his happiest time ever was his 2 years with MVO'B at Ballydoyle . Vincent was a genius , no other word for it , and the current healthy state ( relatively) of Irish bloodstock and racing industry  owes a lot to him . And you could depend on his horses if you were going in heavy , seldom his outsider won at the expense of a hugely fancied stablemate .  He KNEW . Doubt we will ever see his like again , or have as stable a reference point betting wise .

Pity they didn't show a few of the races, know it would be probably copyright issues and they are on youtube anyway,it would have made a good interview great. High praise indeed from MD who came across as a modest genuine fella himself.

Liked his story about the 1983 Gold Cup commentary . Partly showed his humility too , sometimes hard to believe he had the jumping scene by the short and curlies back then .  Often wonder why he upped and left , maybe there is an as yet untold story there .

Have a racing dvd or video somewhere , racing greats ,  Nijinsky is on it . Also have somewhere a video ( taken by me ) of Nijinsky winning the National Stakes at the Curragh , not on the professionally produced dvd . But old technology , doubt I could show it . Or even find it .

He seemed like the Paddy Harrington of the training world, always tinkering but getting the sucess, think Robert Sangster was instrumental in getting him to the flat from memory, bad timing maybe as RS was on the wane but understandable in that he did reach a pinnacle.

As an aside , wonder did any POD supporter have a few quid on that winner yesterday , 16/1 I think . Better return than backing padraig recently , cant see him winning many again , too many miles on the clock , too many missed putts .

MVOB changed tack for the obvious reason in that all the money really was to be made on the flat - just like now.

True Arkle , following advice from the Americas . Very little money in the NH side , other than for the sport aspect .  Still prefer jumping to flat myself . Vincent liked the hurling too , and the fishing on the Blackwater .
