AOB , could have a good day , Cenotaph is the one from his stable that I like , can't be having those War horses at any price ..It has a gns entry unlike its more expensive stable companion , so I'll take a chance on this fellow ..In the Birdcatcher Ask Me Nicely is the one that catches my eye , it ran really well at the Curragh last Sunday till getting stopped in its tracks , sure to be involved in the finish ...Good luck all punters...
Akira 14/1 has been running in G3 events of late and the drop in class on the soft ground should ensure a good run, in what is a below average event for its class.
One e/w bet for me today.Akira 14/1 has been running in G3 events of late and the drop in class on the soft ground should ensure a good run, in what is a below average event for its class.
The one thing about the gobshee.....he certainly doesn't have any shame.....no matter how many buff horses he puts up....it doesn't seem to bother him.... To think that this man haunted Stamford Bridge off the forum.....

I suppose I risk being drawn into a lengthy war of words by highlighting a couple of points raised on this thread. Workrider(if I'm reading it correctly)wants to oppose the expensive 2 year old in the first on the grounds that he doesn't like the sire War Front..fair enough I wouldn't be wild about them myself. He muddies the waters slightly however by tipping a different horse from the same yard who happens to be by...you've guessed it War Front!! Then you have a tip for a horse each way at 14/1 in a 15 runner listed race.Irrespective of the result backing horses each way in an open 15 runner listed race is so mathematically wrong in % terms that I would say it is impossible to show a profit long term at it.Each way betting with bookmakers on those races should carry a health warning.

You appear to be a % punter Tolmi. I am a form man myself and I back what I perceive to be value. If I see a horse at 14/1 and I evaluate that it should be a 6/1 shot and it is capable of winning I will use my judgement and back it accordingly, whether it is a handicap or a level weights race. The listed race today was a pure sh1t listed race which was contested in the main by handicappers. The winner was a genuine listed class horse but the 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th placed horses are handicappers rated 92,84,88 and 76 respectively. The horse I selected Akira (OR 101) had previously contested three listed events and on each occasion finished in the frame. Her last two starts were in G3 company where she finished a close 4th and 5th respectively. It was a drop in class and in my view had strong claims to be at least placed. As things panned out she ran very poorly but I have no complaints.

I have no issue with the selection or how it ran.I am merely pointing out how difficult it is to achieve "value" in the place part of your selection. While backing at 1/5 the odds in non handicaps with 8 runners and a couple of no hopers will virtually always provide the punter with an edge backing each way in a race such as today's will provide the bookmaker with an edge. What was the betfair win/place so of your selection?

I may be wrong, but I would be pretty sure most, or the majority anyway, of firms were paying 1/4 on that race?
I agree with what you're saying thought Tolmi. Its very rare to find any e.w value in a 15 runner event. Place odds on BF would usually be vastly superior. I would rather have slightly more on the win bet.

I would doubt that any firm was paying 1/4 unless in a shop forced into a price war because of competition...and that is far rarer nowadays than 10 years ago.

I feel sorry for you, what was the name of the 1/10 shot please?
You're very fortunate you haven't a pot to p1ss in,all I will say is that comments made can be used in conjunction with other contributions as evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt. That thread that was removed the other day was dangerous and left little to the imagination
