Last 5 races called off at HRX tonight........correct call.

Strangely enough I always study harder and up my staking when the ground changes!

Surely after yesterday it will be soft for the time being, can't remember the ground being as consistent for such a long time.

The 5 races being called off at Harolds Cross has me a bit puzzled Gant. Fairly ignorant on the subject but would that be because a wet and sloppy tack would be more likely to cause an injury to a dog? It would probably compact the sand but often remember it teeming at dog tracks. Probably a dopey question but what harm.

The track was in fair slop and the track staff were getting it hard to remove the water. There was also some valuable pups running in the 2 semis of the puppy derby.

In the interest of safety it was a good call. Trainers were happy the track made the call.

they'd no choice but to call it off, half the dogs would not have ran, the ante post fav being one of them

Sound PF, it was bugging me a bit as wasn,t sure how a wet track in dog racing would affect the dog,can understand with standing water it wouldn,t be good for the dog.
I,ll get slaughtered here but would a dog be liable to get a big lump of mud in his eyes  with a wet track and be half blinded?

Thanks Gant, just a very casual greyhound "viewer" though quite like watching the big nights, it was one of the silly things i thought about before but was never sure of the answer.

The dogs in behind will get some kickback and a bit of sand in their eyes. A quick rub and blow and out it comes.
