With the captain from Ireland , as well as Des Smyth a vice captain , and Gmac and Rory aboard , surely we will have a say in the outcome of the event .
Paul will be excellent , he has a good record in managing teams , and he comes from a team background sport before his golfing career began in earnest , Ballyboden GFC and then Grange GC .
Des one of the earlier Irish on tour , won his fair share in his day .
Gmac and Rory hopefully will be in the thick of the action , certainly Rory will as world No 1 . I expect Gmac to play a significant role in the foursomes , his game is more suited to that than out against the bombers . I wouldn't worry about the litigation issue , expect Gmac and Rory to be out as a foursome pairing . Sorta knew Sergio would be partnering Rory , none of the USA except Phil and Bradley would fancy taking them on . Could be a great match .

Hi Kelly, Jimmy Walker (Top American Rookie) I back him at 15/8 yesterday with W.Hill don`t ask me how I got money on (plenty of phone calls to friends) before the team news today.
I went in again @7/4,13/8 when saw the teams (but to be fair Fowler and Walker has been playing together all week). His two rivals Reed and Spieth are playing together and I can see them lose to Gall/Poulter, and Walker/Fowler winning against Bjorn/Kaymer. I also backed Walker @ 20/1 on B.Fair e/way Top Us Scorer. |

Think my strategy tomorrow might be to lay the odds on Euros in the morning fourballs, lay the odds on Yanks foursomes in the afternoon.
Euros stronger at foursomes, Yanks at fourballs, gets the draw out of the equation, obvious pairings being over backed. Can't go much worse than today! |

On another note.....it was no surprise to see them irish clowns over there giving a belt of "ole ole ole".....somebody should tell them that they have no business even being there.....as there is no Irish representation on the team..... |

All going well so far , looking like a comfortable win unless the Americans do a Medinah . For the sake of the sport I hope it gets tighter today , would not like to see a big gulf betweeen the sides on the scoreboard . Vibes from USA camp dont indicate a huge fightback though , hope I am wrong .

Issue looked in a slight doubt for only about an hour in the middle but then normal service was resumed
-the fat lady appeared and to tumultuous applause produced a memorable rendition of Ode to Joy in a thrilling contralto. Jeez -I just love watching Rory - the white Tiger. |

I don't think it mattered who managed the Yanks, or what pairings they were sent out in. They were, as a group, in horribly bad form going into it. In Medinah, they had the better team along with home advantage, and still couldn't close it out. It may be awhile before they win one. Watson made some funny omissions, but one inspired pairing was Spieth and Reed. They were the only signs of hope from an American point of view.
I see some are lambasting Phil Mickleson for being publicly outspoken against Watsons captaincy. I say fair play to him. Why shouldn't he speak his mind?? If he feels Watson has been below par in his role, then why should he be above criticism? There is far too much political correctness in the World today, with anyone speaking their mind being frowned upon. An example being Rorys interview afterwards, where he stated that he was far more 'up for today' than either of his two major wins this year!! Complete bullsh*t. At least I hope it is. Something I would expect Garcia to say, but not the worlds best player, who surely has multiple more majors as his main priority. Sky love Rory, because he says what they want, and though a thoroughly admirable sort who conducts himself very well, he has become something of a lick arse in my opinion. It was only 4 years ago that Rory declared the Ryder Cup as being a load of nonsense. I would rather more of that from him, lose the shackles and speak his mind a little more. I understand its probably in his best interests financially to have adopted this approach, but he has enough money, and doesn't need to be a Yes Man for anyone. Back to the RC, I may be pocket talking, but I was very surprised at the Rory and Poulter pairing on Saturday morning. Surely G Mac was a much better option. Or G Mac with Dubuisson and lob Rory in with someone else. Thankfully G Mac done all he could and claimed 3 points from his 3 matches, but its a shame he didn't get a shot at 2 more. Fair play to McGinley for showing the ruthless touch by benching Stevie Gallagher after a very nervous opening day. He was clearly overawed by the whole thing. |

Not surprised that Rory has been seduced by the Ryder Cup. It does possess a certain magic that is beyond any Major tournament, for all their far nominal greater importance.
McIroy behaved like a total pr1ck to Wozniaki btw so cannot be having him as an admirable sort. |

There was a time and a place for Lefy to make his feelings known and he got it badly wrong by airing them when he did.
Contrast that with the European team all sticking up for Faldo in the press conference immediately after that loss, even with the media all provoking them into having a go. |

He portrays himself in the media as an admirable sort is what I meant. He does the interviews, smiles for the cameras, signs the autographs, doesn't upset the applecart, agrees with what he is told to agree with etc..... I have never really taken to himself. Am not a fan of Yes Men.
I think it was the time and place. Come next week, the only people talking about the RC will be those directly involved, along with Monty and Livingstone. Phil had a problem with last week, so he aired it last week. He was probably wound up at the time, and that provoked him into speaking then, but he had something to say and he said it. And he may indeed get his wish with Azinger in the mix for 2014. Suppose it just a matter of opionion. I can see both sides, but personally would prefer the more direct approach, and fu** the begrudgers!! |

The amount of jobs for the boys has been taken to ridiculous levels,seems to have been a vice captain for each player. Getting Ferguson to speak to them was a waste of time and money I suspect. |

2.2 got 700 matched but then others started to front run so I let them at it.
