I bet the odds on Germany because they are a better team that Algeria but also felt that Ramadan will affect the energy levels of the Algerians.

Their players are all fasting has to be a monster negative.

Having said all that I am worried as they are far and away the better team so far, hope hunger knock sets in on them later on.

Professional sportspeople excused Ramadan.

As is anyone who is away from home for that matter.  It is deferred until they can do it.

Oh Magoo you have done it again.

Thanks Ozymandius for that clarification even though its not what I wanted to hear.

A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

Germans are very shaky, played a bit better later on,could be a shock on all the same not at all convinced with the German keeper.

if it wasn't for Neur (or however ya spell it) playing sweeper behind possibly the 2 slowest centre backs on earth Germany would already be behind, Algeria have just lacked the quality to take the chances they've created and will end up paying for it unfortunately and these horrible tw@ts will go through Sad god i hope i am wrong

Spot on Premier if it was not for the German keeper playing sweeper 'so well', they be down. Mertesacker is snail like, not sure how you can't see that Pa !!

A decent world cup in terms of  attacking styles and late goals etc but the knockout stages is really highlighting the lack of distinctive quality in the top teams. Perhaps it's a bit premature and some mitigation should be made for the conditions but all the teams look vulnerable, the lasting legacy of a world cup is normally closely correlated with the winning team.

Trading the goal lines is easier in the knockout stages than attempting to make 90 minute predictions which is three card trick stuff if level after an hour.

To be fair dj that was as good as 0-0 i seen in a while, no stand out team yet, but i think there are a few teams camable of stepping it up but i think it's been a brilliant world cup. We are going to hear this from Dunphy soon ( Or you guys will) that it has been a poor world cup because we have not had a great team, the last world cup had Spain and it was a terrible world cup !!

Has to be another goal in this match odds against for that to happen worth something very small.

My point was not referring to this game at all and acknowledged it is a decent world cup but was just saying that at this stage there is not an outstanding team (wouldn't like to be punting outright market) and this is what a historical legacy is normally dependent on.
Report Ozymandius June 30, 2014 11:45 PM BST
That;s probably because most World Cups have been poor with little to recall other than who won it.
Report Distant View July 1, 2014 11:41 AM BST
Mexico 86 was the best World Cup before this (in my time) and brought us some outstanding games.

It was not won by an outstanding team either but by an outstanding individual in a reasonable team.

This World Cup has been a pleasure to watch and it is hard to see its place in history being anything other than an outstanding tournament unless the games from now on are dire.
