IRELAND is the best country in the world for adhering to the Koran, according to an Economic 'Islamicity' Index.
Out of 208 countries, Ireland was judged to be the most capable of following its teachings, with Denmark and Luxembourg in second and third place.
The index, which was published in the Global Economy Journal, used four main criteria for ranking the various countries. Economic achievements, human and political rights, international relations and the structure of those in power were the main pillars for deciding who followed the fundamental lessons of Islam.
There are an estimated 49,000 Muslims living in Ireland and Dr Ali Selim, a senior member of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland (ICCI), told the Irish Independent that the number has increased rapidly over the last few years.
He attributed an "easy existence" between the Irish and the Muslims to a history of social similarities.
"Ireland was once occupied and many Irish people suffered from racism attached to being associated with terrorism. Muslims have this confrontation wherever they go," said Dr Selim.
Referring to one of the criterion used in the 'Islamicity' Index, the ICCI spokesman talked about the economic opportunities that Ireland offered to many Muslim immigrants. Dr Selim added that "in the Koran, Muslims are commanded to accomplish prosperity and Dublin is one of the highest economic centres for Islamic investment".

sad day for Ireland imo..unfortunately..with more muslims comes the minority who will try to readiclize the majority..and with them the problems that come with it..the Koran like the bible..is a curse on decent people the world over...

I was disgusted at the latest news about the prime minister admitting that kids born to unwed mothers were treated as sub human?..in a catholic establishment!!!..they don't know how many babies were murdered or died of normal circumstances..bad things happened in homes for unwed mothers all over Ireland we know...but my point is again the catholic church has so much to answer for in its attitude ...for a church riddled with priest pedophillia..and nuns who are beyond cruel....I think the church's attitude to this shows they have learned nothing..stonewalling the investigation..pressure on the police to do nothing.....as a ex altar boy ..and raised in a catholic home...I know I made the right choice turning my back on religion....im the first to admit the church does many great things over the world..and this holy father is a great one....but its organisation riddled with badness...and nothing will save it....

That's just propaganda,there is always a need to blame,the press RTE and the film industry have decided the nuns must play that role.
It was the judiciary that sent children to these homes,it was doctors who organised it,it was parents of the girls who enforced it.
People don't realise how widespread poverty was,don't realise a lot of these girls were malnourished and weren't physically capable of looking after a child,don't realise anti biotics hadn't been discovered.
You are talking about a time of poverty and poor education,men took advantage of these girls.
Death was accepted as an everyday thing,big families were the norm my mother had 14 children of which 8 survived.

Pa, not sure why you point out the failings of one religion in order to defend another.
By all means, defend Catholicism against the allegations made by Scouse Tony but you really are struggling if that means having to point out the failings of Islam in order to try and cast it in a better light.

I,m not defending Catholicism at all though in my experience regarding Nuns and Priests were generally quite good in my younger years(taught for a few years by the Nuns of St. Marys of the Isle and remember the Priests of the local Franciscan church having to ring the bells because of having no money). A lot of truth in Wildmans post in regards the austere times and films such as The Magdalene Sisters giving them bad press so to speak. No escaping the cover ups however by the church in regard the horrendous activities by some priests.
