I have actually backed Tested in same race WR. Currently 9-2, I think she will go off a well backed 3-1 shot.

Yes she has a quick turnaround from her failed attempt in the Guineas, but today she encounters better ground and a furlong less. Both will be in her favour. The yard would have her ahead of Vote Often in the pecking order, but ground conditions at the Curragh favoured that filly more. It shows how good Tested could still be though. Weld is not one to rush his more promising types, or any type really, and the fact she reappears so soon, suggests both that she has come out bouncing and that DKW feels this is a gilt edged opportunity.

The fav Giovanni Boldini has the best piece of form in the book, but I am always sceptical of apparently promising juveniles sent to the rigours of the BC. Rightly or wrongly, I don't think APOB or other top trainers would send something they consider potentially top class as a 3yr old or older to this meet, and risk ruining it. GB has done nothing so far this term to suggest he was anything other than a good two year old.

Sun on the Run won a weak handicap off a mark any of these would sh*t in off, on heavy ground, then beat a load of exposed types in another weakish event. She needs to step up, and there is no rain about yet, which may hinder her chances.

All in all, I think Tested will be hard to beat.

Well done lads , lots of good picks there , a pleasant day all told , a goodish crowd , lots of good racing ..Thought the fav in first won really well , and will improve for a step up in distance , both Listed race winners will be worth following ...Finally I was impressed with Due Diligence , even though I laid it...

War Envoy was disappointing today.....looked a winner beforehand to me.....and I must say id have been with snap crackle concerning the hannon horse......id be surprised if hannon doesn't have 10 better 2 year olds than him......he can thank shane foley though for his success......because he gave him a present of the race.....had a better draw and got a better break yet decided to give the winner the free lead and the rail.....ultimately the difference between winning and losing......
Its easy to see how halford isn't having winners this season....because a stable will not get their quota of winners if their jockey of choice isn't up to scratch......in the first race a maiden.....foley popped out smartly and then reigned back giving the winner the lead and the rail while he himself is 4 horses wide......and in the last a really tough handicap full of hardened horses.....he does what no other jockey wants to do.....make the running......

Winner hardly got a free lead Paulie, he pulled like a cu*t. I wasn't watching the BIR, but would assume Hannons was double figures pretty early. If Foley had of took him on early doors the race would probably have fell into Josephs lap. The second and third had the run of the race, the winner done very well to overcome its early exertions.

the rail is invaluable in a close finish in a flat race.....particularly when the ground is not soft or worse.....it didn't matter whether hannons horse pulled or not......foley couldn't wait to give away his advantage.....in small fields and in uncompetitive races good jockeys do not give away an easy lead......and in tough handicaps good jockeys are rarely in front......

Looked a bit of a boyo but probably didnt stay that is a stiff 6 furlongs.

Paulie my thoughts exactly re Shane , after seeing the opening winner stay glued to the rails , and having let the winner up his inner in the previous race , I was sure he'd learn t his lesson , but no , lets the Hannon horse come across from an outside draw and take the rail off him , ludicrous ....

Would you go with or take on a horse pulling like that yourself WR ?
Just wondering as I know I'd be thinking let him gas himself out by not allowing him the luxury of any cover behind me & not use mine up early to beat him for a position when he looked likely to beat himself(Just make sure I'm not stuck behind him when he starts going backwards is where my head would have been), Didn't think at 3F marker I'd be collecting.

Gut , it was obvious to a blind man that the place to be was the running rail , from earlier races , first two winners came up that strip , Hannon coped it and told Dodds to get across asap , Shane on the other hand must have known from riding in those earlier races that it was the place to be , yet he kept his horse off it having had the opportunity to get on to it well before Hannons horse came across ...He didn't need to get into any battle either to get to it first , just let his horse go over ..A bad ride from the lad , and i rate him btw , but his confidence seems a little low atm....

Fair assessment apart from the blind man part as Tested/Beach Belle both won from the outside & Machete Mark was fortunate the gaps appeared when they did imo, The winner of the first could have done it from anywhere such was his dominance I felt so that'd make it 3 wins on the rail/2 down the outside from first 5 races, Maybe the rail is the place to be but the results state its a even playing ground at Naas if you have enough horse where it matters.

What was Foley to do,he breaks well leads for the first furlong and a half,a horse pulling hard joins him,should he take him on to hold his position or let what looked to me a speedy horse going too fast off,he choose the second option and was right.

Wildmanfromborneo , Shane should have taken the rails position when it was presented to him from the off , I've always been of the opinion that getting the rail on a 2yo is a help , the fact that most of the winners came up along the rail , including those who started their run up the middle , when Shane gave the second a few backhanders inside the last , he hung to his left , the rail would have kept him straight and helped immensely ...
