The spread on the number of labour seats in the next general election with Paddy Power is a fantastic bet but a long wait and also problems with it being a thin market.
Under 15.5 @ 5/6 -Rabitte,Quinn,Howlin,Gilmore etc are not guaranteed to contend. They will be fortunate to have 6% of the vote and will be surprised if they make it into double figures. |

Buffett's net worth would not balance their fiscal policy though. It will be interesting to see how it develops now that more attention should be focused on their policies. Are they not implementing austere measures in the North Richters while simultaneously disputing every stealth tax or service cut here (without any mention of the country's continued requirement to borrow one billion per month to function)?

So let's just play along then just out of normal curiosity.
Has anyone ever asked Mt. Adams something like the following ? About 40 odd years ago in W Belfast young men were joining an organisation called the IRA in large numbers for what they thought were valid and compelling reasons. Given the nature of life in that area at the time , the charged atmosphere , if nothing else -the obvious peer pressure that would have existed... why did you not join the IRA -especially in view of the constant support for their methods and objectives which you expressed for many decades ? Or maybe I've missed it and the question has already been put . Does anyone know ? |

1.Was former government minister pat rabbitte a member of the official IRA (the stickies ) 2.Was tainaiste eamon gilmore a member of the official IRA your answer most likely will be i dont know or neither do i care...... The point being it is relevant know and over the last 5 years to ask such questions to stem the 32 county growth of sinn fein and the republican movement, another question Why werent these questions asked of adams in the 80s? Answer:Because sinn fein werent a threat politically either in the 6 counties or in the west brit state.... |

The reason Adams cannot admit to being n the IRA was shown by his political arrest last month.
Nelson Mandela was lauded here by some sycophantic liberals,he wasn't a gunman he was a bomber. Nearly every member of the first Dail was a gunman. If you want peace in the North you must accept that the past is just that the past. Dredging up forty year old crimes be it the work of IRA men or British soldiers is stupid as well as being unfair. Paulie Wallnuts consistently calls us thick Paddies,complains about the politicians we vote in yet he himself doesn't vote. |

Sinn Fein's greatest weakness is not their evasiveness surrounding historical events but their evasiveness and inability to construct a coherent economic policy that has a semblance of realism or sustainability. A glance at Sinn Fein's proposed policies Property Tax abolished Universal social charge extirpated A cut in health in expenditure of €205.9 million (very precise but plucked out of the sky and completely unattainable) How will this be financed? An increase in corporation tax which will result in mass capital emigration and a destruction of FDI in Ireland. They propose a personal tax rate of 48%. This part is laughable now apart from opposing every stealth tax,their estimates for tax revenue incorporate the future proceeds from these taxes. The sooner the conversation moves to a pragmatic debate on realistic policies and away from the troubles the better.However the naivety of the Irish electorate seems to be boundless. |

dj how many of the blueshirt/sticky coalitions policies from the last general election have been implemented,just as a matter of interest....as you have rightly said before,these policies are not worth the paper they are printed on,it is the policies that the civil servants devise that are fronted and used by serving governments.....

He was a gunman and a ruthless one at that,he was fighting a war. There was no one trying to charge him in the 1960s for something he did in Soloheadbeg. Sinn Fein as their name suggests should be anti the EU but I think they are going native. I personally would never vote Sinn Fein but I accept it was easier for me living in Tipperary than it was the people who bore the brunt of the excesses of the Northern Statelet. I always had a simplistic view on the North where the Unionists are a minority posturing as a majority,give them Glasgow. |

I'm not here concerned with comparisons or historical 'what abouts?'.
Leaving all ideologies and agendas aside I'm simply inquiring if anybody has asked the President of SF why he was never a member of the Provisional IRA or if that question has been asked what the reply was. If Adams was a member of the PIRA why would he not acknowledge that fact as so many others have done -seeing as the Irish people seem quite content to accept former dealers in violence into the political mainstream. He would be following in a long established tradition. If,on the other hand,he was not a member of the PIRA he should frankly and openly tell us why not since it would have been a clear cut and obvious course for him to have taken in the environment he grew up in. One might even say that it would actually diminish Adams' record and reputation in the eyes of many that he never slaughtered for the sacred cause when all around him were doing so with his approval. |

rite lets put his argument to sleep once and for all.....the new breed of irish republicanism has risen from colleges all over the island.most with no affiliation to militant republicanism but yet still loyal to it....this new breed of youth wont go with the stereotypical genepool of their wannabe republican predessors of ff/fg....but most importantly they are not bigots and can see a role for every class in society regardless.....thats the difference...they dont see it as a career......or a DYNASTY as tryin rubridy quite recently said.....sums it all up to me to be quite honest....
