"The Turf Club" give steward reports but not sure that will be there in the context you are asking.
Report paulie wallnuts May 6, 2014 12:28 PM BST
There will have to be some form of enquiry into its running pa.....a horse goes from evens out to bigger than 2/1 in a race with a handful of runners....is dropped out last....being slapped down the neck after a mile.....being whipped at half way and is pulled up shortly afterwards.....
Surely they will need some form of explanation.....
Report wildmanfromborneo May 6, 2014 12:35 PM BST
There was no enquiry, should have been alright.

It should all be in the form book, that used to be the case although few seem to bother with the form book anymore isint it all on computer.

Well in the report on that site it states,The turf club veterinary officer examined Need To know at the request of the stewards and reported the animal to be CLINICALLY ABNORMAL.Samples were taken for analysis.

How is it the end of thread ya ginitt.....it shouldn't be the end of the matter.....it was the most lack lustre display ive seen from any favourite in years.....and the huge drift told its own story....First of all the horse finished abnormal....the samples haven't been tested.....and the people who laid it heavily should be asked why they did so.....
So how is that the end of thread....
Thanks to pa for his help by the way....

You wanted to know [just out of interest Laugh] why the horse ran badly and you were given an answer......it wouldn't matter what site you're directed too if you don't understand what you're reading tbf.
Report pa lapsy May 6, 2014 1:41 PM BST
JR with respect think it is a fair question, that the horse ran a stinker after a huge drift, the fact the horse didn't come back sound does't answer it and begs a more obvious question.
Not for a minute saying anything untoward happened and would wait till the results of the samples are known myself.
The "clinically abnormal" expression is one that is heard a lot, won,t pretend to understand that one fully but my impression of it is it is just an expression used when a horse doesn't come back right normally through lameness or a discharge through the nostrils most commonly, open to correction with the last part as i know at least one on the thread would have a lot better idea on that than me.
Report J.R.Hartley May 6, 2014 1:49 PM BST
I'd imagine that the drift was because the horse was encountering firm ground for the first time Pa....all the horses form is on soft.....not that it takes a lot of money for a horse to drift in a hunters chase at down royal.
The firm ground might also account for the horse being found clinically abnormal.......as you've said could be a number of causes....i doubt the samples will tell you much tbf.
Report paulie wallnuts May 6, 2014 2:22 PM BST
Id imagine the drift had fukk all to do with the firm ground......and it takes a lot of money to be risked on any horse to force it from even money out to 2/1 and bigger.....no matter what kind of race it is....
The samples may not tell us much who knows.....but why wasn't the jockey asked for his tuppence worth.....did he think it was the ground....or did he feel the horse was lifeless....whatever the case....
The reason being is because the people that run the sport don't have a clue....and don't care either.....
They just go through the motions making idiotic decisions one after another......
Some good ones.....two national hunt metings on Friday....and all flat on Saturday.....
Last sunday 2 flat meetings clashing.....
only the other day Dundalk and kilbeggan on the same evening.....with a blank day 2 days previous....
I suppose the fella that needs 2 seats to sit his big bottom down is overseeing all these beauties....
Report J.R.Hartley May 6, 2014 2:27 PM BST
The drift had nothing to do with the firm ground!....Laugh.....if you can't read form Paulie why bother reading anything else.

So JR.....the ground was described by harry Kelly as having a little juice in it.....and by Robert Power as good.....certainly not firm.....as you describe it.....it was by definite article whos progeny are suited by quickish conditions....it had never been tried on this surface so there is no evidence whatsoever to say it was going to be inconvenienced....
So how come the huge drift.....and how come the jockey wasn't quizzed.......ya can give me your answers when your ready....

Report gutfeeling May 6, 2014 3:17 PM BST
Just watched it quickly, Changing its legs a fair bit and unable to lay up with a slow pace.
Didn't enjoy the going and surely a virus will be the reason given, Would've been scoped by vet for signs of internal bleeding and legs would have been checked for any soreness if they thought the ground was the issue, If neither of these showed anything and there was no blood present on nose then a sample will be taken and sent away,
Although it could just be a dog.
Correct Pa clinically abnormal is a roundabout way of saying "F@ck Knows"
Report The Gotchee May 6, 2014 3:41 PM BST
Where did the mare win on Good to Yielding paulie?
Report J.R.Hartley May 6, 2014 4:26 PM BST
The official going was good to Firm the only two occasions the horse won was on soft and soft to heavy....what the horse is by is irrelevant.....it's a divisive subject anyway certainly

not an exact science.....whether a horse handles certain conditions is mostly down to confirmation which can be passed on from the stallion or the mare, then you have to take into account

conformation faults....which may stop horses performing on certain types of ground.

The jockey wasn't 'quizzed' because the stewards were satisfied that there was a reason for the poor run i.e clinically abnormal, which in my experience usually involves the horses heart rate.

Despite what what you think Paulie a horse doesn't have to be laid to drift.......if no fcker wants to back them they will drift!......looking at the horses form who in their right mind would take anything close to evens ffs....Laugh

gobshee.....according to irish racing.com....it won a 20k chase in fairyhouse April 2006 on good to yielding......
JR......how can the stewards be  satisfied the reason for the poor run.....when nobody knows what clinically abnormal means....its similar to a mechanic wondering what is wrong with a car without asking the driver.....
Despite what you think JR....when plenty of people who would know what they are doing are backing a horse......and its price is lengthening.....then that my auld pal is more than the good ground.....and despite what you think what a horse is by is very relevant.....

Jesus Mark Enright was lucky there on Knockanarragan, looking around him between the last two taking all his horses momentum away and then over-jumps the last nearly ending up on the floor. Rode 95% of the race really well and was good and positive but looking like Paul Carberry doesn't even work that well for Paul Carberry. Put the thing to bed, especially when the cash is down!!

On a more serious note i'm quite happy to discuss the subject regarding the ability for a sires progeny to handle certain conditions and the reasons why with you Paulie as it's something
