Decent bank holiday card.......think Billyford has a massive chance in the 3.40 at a decent price....won't be out of the first three imo.

If you ignore his last three runs...all at Dundalk and  judge him on his close fourth over C/D the last time he ran on grass in a much better race than this where he looked all over the winner a furlong down.......ran off 89 that day and is

competing today off 4 pound lower with Conner Kings 5lb claim it means he's effectively running off a 9lb lower mark!

Anyway best of luck.

Heading up to the Curragh later, so have been looking as carefully as one can at the card!!
Looks like there may be some rain in the afternoon, but it might not affect the going of G-F

2.00 5f 2yo fund race
The Great War 1/6 all the way, but at the price, placepot material only

2.30 5f handicap
Will be interested in Queen Grace 8/1, Freedom Square 8/1, Homeric Hymn 10/1 & Regal Power 16/1

3.05 7f Tetrarch Listed stakes for 3yos
Too many conundrums here with O'Brien having a third of the entries.
I will be looking at the obvious ones - Great White Eagle 11/2, Alkassar 8/1, Focus On Venice 9/1, Michaelmas 3/1 & Shining Emerald 7/2

3.40 1m handicap
Dynamite Dixie 9/2, Kavaco 6/1 & Relentless Pursuit 14/1 of interest

4.15 1m2f Mooresbridge G3
A race to watch - Magician 1/5 all the way

4.50 1m2f handicap
Looking at Stronger Than Me 7/1, Teocht 5/1, Urban Moon 3/1 & Azurite 6/1

5.25 7f Athasi G3
For me it's between Peace Burg 4/1, Wannabe Better 4/1 & Flying Jib 2/1

5.55 6f Maiden
Quite alot going on in the last race! Obvious types again: Danish Duke 5/1, Household Cavalry 4/1, Monsieur Power 7/2, Calorie 11/1 & Sea Of Wells 3/1

Still a bit to do to narrow some of these down!

Good luck if you're punting

J.R.H.- was looking at Billyford and thought he had certain place prospects, but for the win, I'd have my doubts with a few younger types open to progression.
best of luck and will keep your selection in mind!

Good post JRH.

I will be having 2 Each Way bets today.

2.30 Pencil Hill 12/1. Goes well fresh, Course and Distance winner on a good handicap mark with a decent claimer on board. Dropped in class.

4.50 Azurite 7/1. An improving 3 year old from a stable in fine form (last 12runners from yard 812222332131). Excuses can be made for most of the others, Stronger Than Me is the big danger

relentless pursuit in the 3.40 is an interesting runner, seems 8f could be a problem though, was beaten on only its 3rd race by two horses now rated 88 0R and 80 OR. races off 8.6 in this race and
looks one to watch out for in future races. GM LYONS horses have been running well without winning.(NO BET) gl all

A most frustrating day for both myself and Jim , I backed his 4 seconds and haven't a bad word to say about any of the rides they got ..Simply unlucky ...A couple of inches can make a huge difference , Norman will confirm that ...Laugh...TGW is a cracking looker and won with his head in his chest , defo  R/ASCOT bound and will take some beating ...3.5..Some nice individuals in this and it just might turn out to be a reasonable race , winner was going great and looked as if he might win a lot further than he finally did , Bolgers should tremendous guts to fight right to the line ...3.40 Bolgers looked all over the winner till Berry got a huge run out of the winner ...Again I thought I was on a winner when Parish  Hall quickened up approaching and looked to have  Magician in trouble ...5..55 Taking  her lack of experience into consideration Sell Of  Wells did really well to collect here , and could end up a stakes filly , Bolgers ran on really well having been in the van most of the way ..I'm writing that from memory and haven't seen any replays so open to correction ..Finally as I went to looked at them canter to post in the last , I slipped and fell on the wet wooden floors beside the parade ring , sitting here with a tight bandage on wrist , they say it has to get worse before it gets  better ..

It wouldn't interest you mate ....You are one sad little mucker , afraid to take the £50,000 bet , yet you still seem to think you know something about me ...Stick to what you know best mate , like visiting DARK HOLES....Laugh

Should get dropped a few more pound after that....Plain

Enjoyable day out, pity the weather wasn't a bit more obliging.
Tough day punting wise, if Dynamite Dixie had gone in for me I'd a been up, as it was I was down Cry

2.00 The Great War was very impressive, I've been doing some poking around on the RP site and I see that he has/had a full brother in the US, I think called Lead? How could I find out more about his form in the US?
Trainer mentioned afterwards of coming back for the 2yo Listed on the Saturday of the guineas weekend.
I thought Intense Style was eye-catching in 3rd on debut, seemed to run smoother than his stablemate and put on a spurt in the last furlong.

2.30 Backed Freedom Square & jumped on the morning mover Kiss The Stars - both e/w. Money was done on Freedom Square almost immediately, but was disappointed not to get my money back on Kiss The Stars - thought the jockey could have ridden out for the place!
A high draw certainly seemed to be key. Jembatt ran on well, coming from near last to grab 3rd.

3.05 Backed Focus On Venice e/w. Alkasser's win puts the maiden win of McCreery's Champagne Or Water at Sligo yesterday in a whole new perspective. Alkasser's win looked visually impressive. He's entered in the 2,000 & the G3 Greenlands over 6f on the same day. He was the last to come off the bridle (1f out). Trainer seems to have a slight reservation about him seeming out the 1m. His dam is a half sister to Dandy Man, but I would have thought that the dam sire (Kings Best) would bring out enough to win over 8f. I have booked to stay in Naas for the guineas weekend and am going to do both days, hence the reason why any thoughts on the above would be greatly appreciated!

3.40  Kavaco is a huge beast and looks nearly too big to be a flat horse, that put me off him. Backed Dynamite Dixie and thought I was on the winner! He too is a big horse and looked to be done for speed by the smaller filly in the last furlong.
J.R.H.- Looking at the race again, Billyford seemed to be given a gentle enough ride, with a view to another day and getting a few more pounds off!

4.15 Magician didn't look great in the parade ring, but he'll come on heaps for that and it would be another treat if he was turned out again for the Gold Cup on the 1,000 day. Joseph left it a bit tight, but he didn't seem to want to get at him too much and the horse only came off the bridle one and a half out.

4.50 Backed Stronger Than Me but ultimately was giving too much weight to the ones in front!! Swerved Urban Moon because of the stable form and because I couldn't get the run of John Constable at Tipperary a few weeks ago out of my mind! Waver seemed to be ridden to get a few pounds off its back.

5.25 Because of the way the stables runners are going I laid Chicago Girl. Flying Jib looked great in the parade ring and fought hard for her win, but I thought it was pretty impressive first time out against older horse (albeit getting weight). She's entered in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot over 1m, but her trainer is thinking of supplementing her for the 1,000 (more treats!). Peace Burg will be interesting to follow and holds group entries over 8-10f in the next couple of months.

5.55 Backed nothing. Sea Of Wells is tiny, looked tiny against the boys in the parade ring and indeed looked dwarfed by Chance To Dance at the finish. Would I be right in saying that Mr. Oxx hasn't had too many blacktype sprinters in the past??

Like I said above, an enjoyable day out!

The Great War looked twice the size as the rest of the field.  He was never out of a jog.

Interesting, Wonks, I enquire as to your daughters well being and you reply something about 'dark holes'?

Do they still show preference for the 'ethnic' man ...I suppose growing up in Tallaght they get to sample a rainbow cross section of ethnicities?

Your inquiry was the least of my worries , I say you would be more interested in the ETHNIC MAN than them ...Laugh..Ever get to meet your Dad , Norman...

I would have thought your girls would have been quite petite, what with you being 5 foot, nothing not like you could have attracted a taller woman...so the dwarf gene lived on....shocking to think of such small girls being violated by a 'Barbary Horse'

The Gotchee continuing his good form,a good run by Pencil Hill in the sprint an even better winning run from Azurite at 7/1, I was full sure he won but a share of the spoils will do.

Wilddan carrying on with his usual bullshiite......his new best friend the gobshee.....carrying on his god run.......for a 10 euro stake yesterday.....the gobber won 16 euro.....investing 40 would have seen  return of 56....same thing as backing a 2/5 winner.....
Word of warning to the gobshee......ya know what this man does to his friends.....continually mocks them aand when they arrange to meet.....tells them to **** off....
Report wildmanfromborneo May 6, 2014 10:39 AM BST
2/5 losers is yours and DJ876s  speciality.

Your maths isint too hot,The Gotchee recommended an each way bet on Azuriteat 7/1 if he had 40 euro each way he would have got a return of 256 a profit of 176 euro.

His profit on Sizing Europe would have been much higher but probably best not to mention that.
Report paulie wallnuts May 6, 2014 10:45 AM BST
wilddan.....I think its your maths that aren't great....I said if he had invested two 10 euro ew bets.....he would have got back 56......pencil hill was nowhere.....bookies don't pay out on horses that are 5th normally.....
Report wildmanfromborneo May 6, 2014 10:52 AM BST
A few actually do.

Still a profit is a profit maybe you should try to work out his profit on Sizing Europe, the selection you sneered at.
Report paulie wallnuts May 6, 2014 11:02 AM BST
I didn't sneer at his selection wilddan.....what I said was that if anybody was thinking about backing it which I was......the fact that the gobshee was putting it up was very worrying......
There was nothing wrong with the selection....but once he put it up....then that would be sufficient reason not to back it......Employing that procedure over time would be beneficial.....as the gobshee as everybody knows is just that a gob****......and a  serial loser....
ok....this one won....but what about the hundreds of losers that are conveniently ignored......
im happy with the stance I took....and id like to know what he backs in every race.....because it wouldn't do me any harm long term....
Report pa lapsy May 6, 2014 11:20 AM BST
You wouldn,t have done too well on his 300/1 ew selection in the masters golf Paulie.
