Not sure whether i,m right here but may have been Swantykay 9th Nov '13 , all in all she had a good strike rate for him with 7 from 17.
Report J.R.Hartley March 2, 2014 12:26 PM GMT
Steven Clements rides out for him along with a few other lads with licences...then there is Nina of course...so i'd imagine he's o.k for amateurs.
Report GANT007 March 2, 2014 12:45 PM GMT
Do Gigginstown use her anymore.........that's the question.

Ladies,

Please ask Jane.

Not happy with her ride on Desertmore Stream in Cork. Hasnt ridden for them since. A great rider - their loss.
Report pa lapsy March 2, 2014 11:02 PM GMT
That horse,s results have been mediocre since and isn,t very good, agree very capable pilot and still a young girl.
Report callitasucit March 2, 2014 11:15 PM GMT
Top class amateur. In a different league to Patrick (and Danny) Mullins.
Report workrider March 3, 2014 12:08 PM GMT
I think she has decided to go to college full time , as she believes there is not enough rides for a lady rider when they lose their claim , just look at K/WALSH in recent times the girl they all wanted on their horses , now she hardly gets an outside ride ...
Report GANT007 March 3, 2014 6:46 PM GMT
Spot on Workrider. She is one hell of a pilot.
Report paulie wallnuts March 3, 2014 7:16 PM GMT
in all fairness Katie walsh wouldn't hold jane mangan's coat......jane mangan would manage fine without a claim.....she's better than almost all the male amateurs......and is miles ahead of the women......including Nina.....who herself is better than Katie Walsh.....
Wonks.....Katie walsh was never the girl they all wanted really.....she was with Willie Mullins and when Patrick came of age .....she was put out to grass......if she was that good she'd have survived without mullins......jane mangan would.....
Report workrider March 3, 2014 7:24 PM GMT
Thats true Paulie , I was just using Katie as an example...
Report paulie wallnuts March 3, 2014 7:31 PM GMT
and another thing......major rumpus is right......they weren't happy with the ride desertmore stream got in Cork......I suppose Eddie O leary found it hard to see how desertmore stream was beaten by rathvinden......but then again desrtmore is a really good horse.....and Eddie should know......
Big Ed does a good job as racing manager......from hundreds of horses in his care....he really has a mouthwatering portfolio heading to Cheltenham.....the best thing he did was to give so many horses to Noel Meade......a terrific combination......

What about the horse she rode for Eliot at Leopardstown where she gave the winner a furlong start and then gave the twos up when interviewed after
Report tocky junior March 3, 2014 10:34 PM GMT
Her bottle is rotten wont ride pt2pt or hunter chases(bar an odd old horse she knows)...rides every thing upfront out wide, DKW finished with her because of this ....she is serious in a finish very average outwise...nearly always goes too soon
Report lustrumm March 4, 2014 9:48 AM GMT
I had heard that too re bottle but to be fair she is only a slip of a girl. She is a good rider but not for me. I couldn't have that she is weak in a finish but people comparing here to the likes of Robbie Mac, Kevin Power and Nina are miles off
Report wildmanfromborneo March 4, 2014 10:43 AM GMT
Tocky Junior is the most gutless gentleman ever to stand on a orange box.
I was at a point to point one day and was asked where were the bookies,I replied none here but there are a few lads on orange boxes taking bets.
The irony of a man afraid of his shadow questioning a brave young girl is I hope not lost on this forum.
Report neill d March 4, 2014 1:20 PM GMT
That happening and her subsequent reaction to it in an interview  put me right off of her Lustrumm. She didn't even acknowledge that they had messed up.
Report pa lapsy March 4, 2014 1:32 PM GMT
I didn,t see that interview so can,t comment on that, her reaction after Oscar Delta last year would probably show another side to her though as well.
Report neill d March 4, 2014 1:44 PM GMT
Yeah, I'm probably being harsh there. I think she is a very good rider and would have her as the best female jock around. She rode a bumper winner there the other week and it was a lovely stop-start kind of ride from the front. Think it was a Flat bred mare of Willie McCreerys.

The only bad ride I've noticed her give a horse bar the Leopardstown incident is Snake Eyes in a Punchestown bumper a few years ago. Incidentally, I'm surprised Snake Eyes isn't in the Imperial Cup, must be because they're sweet on regal Encore. SE was never put in the race when 6th in the Pierse Hurdle and I'm nearly sure he'll land a big handicap this spring. I get the sense they've always liked him at Hendersons
Report neill d March 4, 2014 1:47 PM GMT
I'd a pal going to Leopardstown for the first time that night and he happened to be on Cullentry Royal. He thinks 600/1 exchange winners can happen at Ireland's premier racetrack now. That notion is going to cost him when he's there during the summer!!
Report paulie wallnuts March 4, 2014 1:52 PM GMT
Jane Mangan may not be as committed as other amateurs.....what is the point in her riding in point to points.....Robbie mac doesn't ride too many in points .....nor does kevin power.....admittedly Robbie mac is a class removed from all amateurs.....and most proffessionals......and kevin power is fairly decent too.....but nowadays jane mangan is miles better than nina carberry and Katie walsh.....
the girl has a brain....is going to college....knows full well that she couldn't ride for a living in Ireland or England......
Report wildmanfromborneo March 4, 2014 1:56 PM GMT
She does ride in point to points.

She must have cost the yellow Tocky Junior a score one day, probably wants to see her fall in some point to point as some type of twisted revenge.
Report pa lapsy March 4, 2014 1:57 PM GMT
Suppose Woman + Redhead = contents of lucky bag,you wouldn,t have a clue what you,ll get, without seeing it she probably had a moment,no harm to go against conventional etiquette at times anyway,t'would be a dull world.
Yeah they seem to have done a good job in keeping regal encores mark down, you could well be right in they will be a bejaysus of a punt on him.
Report neill d March 4, 2014 2:03 PM GMT
Robbie Mc is an unbelievable good jock. Just looks so assured on a horse, it is actually enjoyable watching him when you've backed one of his.

The ride on Tammy's Hill at Leopardstown where he said exactly what he was going to do before the race, and then followed through to the minute detail, was a bit like when Babe Ruth pointed at where he was going to hit the baseball.

Think he can only ride 20 a year outside of amateur races, but if Weld was to say he had the best NH jockey in Ireland, I'd find it hard to disagree with him even though McNamara hasn't the achievements to back up an assertion like that.

I'm probably going over the top, but you'll see so much rubbish if you watch Newcastle today, it is nice to see a fella (an amateur) doing a job so well.
Report wildmanfromborneo March 4, 2014 2:06 PM GMT
Has weight problems and some other issues but agree a first class jockey.
Report neill d March 4, 2014 2:07 PM GMT
Just hope I'm on the ball and get the price Pa, travels like a horse with rakes of ability and will improve so much for nice ground as well. I could see him popping up in the style of that Hughes horse on Sunday...in fact, I'd nearly say that is the way it will need to be as he is tricky. If one was working notably well at Hendersons at the time he reputedly was, when he probably had the best 3 work horses in England in sprinter Sacre, Simonsig and the Tent....I'm willing to give him every chance.
Report pa lapsy March 4, 2014 2:24 PM GMT
Wouldn,t have a strong opinion on it Neill though obviously handbrake off for the double,Nicholls one looks decent and Pipe farmed the race for years, books certainly afraid of him. GL with him.
Clonmel looks to have a few interesting ones if they run on Thursday.
Report neill d March 4, 2014 2:28 PM GMT
Yes Pa, might be a few looking for the exes, bit like those Kempton A?W evening meetings just before Christmas Eve.
Report Tolmi March 4, 2014 2:43 PM GMT
Robbie's two winning rides in Leopardstown on Hennessy day should be a required viewing for those who say jockeys don't matter. It's a pity that it looks like his reward could be watching a far less capable jockey ride Tammy's Hill at Cheltenham(if rumours can be believed)
