Seems to have been a good weekend for most on here hopefully we can extend it to Monday
Highlight of the day will no doubt be the listed chase when Davy goes head to head with Bryan Cooper !! I think Davy can get off to a winner in the first 12.35 for his beloved Charles with Kerrieonvic , stayed on well at Limerick over Christmas after a layoff , The Fenton one has been dissapointing so would expect it to collect ... Hopefully price won t be too short
Sterling Silver looks to have been found a handy opportunity back over hurdles at 2.45 ... Robert Tyner was quoted after his facile win over fences the last day saying there were no races for him over christmas so hence probably why he has waited till now ..11/4 tonight looks good value
Cloudy Rocks 3.45 .His point to point win before christmas reads very impressive ( interested to what the point to point boys on here would have to say ) ... Should take all the beating if he translates it to the track .... If he can it could be another Golantilla moment for the O Briens and they can get another touch
Might pay to be the early bird in the morning on these 3 ....good luck all
I never usually back on a Monday as a rule as its usually just bookie cannon fodder muck racing from England so makes a change to have an Irish meeting on a monday to give it much needed life.
Byrnes in the first should benefit from the drop in trip but surely if The Pounds produces his narrow bumper 2nd at this track to Band of Blood on his first run over hurdles he looks the proverbial ew bet to nothing if the tissue is to be believed?, best form on offer, Deise Dasher looks a potential fly in the ointment for Winters.
I was quiet impressed with Make a Track last time and they're turning him out quickly might just take a chance on him to beat the other two. Though I see they have been nimbling away at Rupert.
I presume there will still be many willing to take on Urano again? but I think this trip will be the making of him and he was still bang there last time before been squeezed out, hard to find anything worthwhile to take him on with, could represent great value after the race?.
Sterling Stuff looks the obvious one but I'm willing to take him on with Pint of Porter who if he reproduces his Navan run would make him a live ew alternative.
The 3.15 looks wide open but I'm going to take a chance with 2 ew's against the field in the shape of Provincial Pride and Kick Start.
Good Luck.

i am more than a little surprised about the expression of confidence about the mare cloudy rock, especially by 2 forum members who I would bet did not see her close up in action on her only appearance to date. she did win by a wide margin, back in November, I thought she was hard fit that day in kinsale and did not in my view offer much in terms of scope for the future. I would took the view it was going to take some time for her to recover from the exertions. the second has since won a point, but would be a 10/1 shot in my book to win any bumper.
cloudy rock is a home bred, her dam was also handled by the same connections and she too won first time out, and thereafter in her track career, never came close to bothering the judge. it could be a family trait, that the female side as best served first time up. she was a late non runner at limerick, where I think she might have struggled to win. at odds today less than 2/1, she can win on her own steam.
I will be fishing for fancy chances prices on countessa margerita, a good honest and reliable sort, who ran to her ability when 3rd in that limerick bumper, a repeat will see her bang in the picture again. she is ridden by a more than capable lady rider, Sheila ahern.

Sorry The Gotchee , for only getting back to you now , went to bed just after posting that last night , Toner seems to be taking his races well , so not too worried on that score ..He has been running against better opposition than Rubert into the bargain , Rubert is full of potential but I'll be siding with Toner today , he goes on the ground , whereas Rubert has to prove he handles it ...If its a fast run race all the better imo .....Urano owes me big time after clipping heels lto , ( was coming to win his race and had just gone by the winner ) so if Toner is beaten Urano will be the one that hopefully salvages something for me ...Weather is shocking up here , will the meeting go ahead ?...

ive followed kl..in, the bumper got 8/1.. the rest of the card is poor..my only other bet is tyners..STERLING STUFF...won over fences lto ..but got hammered by the handicapper, for that so back over hurdles..not much of a price..but its a poor race..and i think he must be thereabouts..

Was speaking to a buddy of mine who saw her win her point and would know the time of day, and he told it was a steering job today, so that will do for me anyway. Already lots of money for it I see...

desertmore storm is my nap for today. His bumper run at cork has worked out pretty well and 9 days is a quik turnaround for the byrnes horse after running on very soft Limerick ground. Good luck with all your bets.

the anorak wishes to point out that the Cloudy Rocks p2p rating is the joint highest rating for a winning maiden 4yo mare since Baby Shine beat the geldings in Kilsheelan three years ago. Richard Pugh and keen leader with strongly divergent views.....

Getting back to the bumper, I think the value E/W without the fav has to be Cordelia Belle 11/2. She arguably has the best bumper form on show. She ran in a maiden hurdle LTO, her first run for De Bromhead. Back to a bumper today she has a lot in her favour.

Well Done Silver with The Pounds lovely price .......... Keen Leader when i said Cloudy Rocks Point form reads well i meant the snippet from the race "made all and jw, 3l advantage before 4out, easily went clear after 3out, stayed on well, v impressive" .
Hence i was interested in what verse point to point men like yourself thought . Based on your views he can win away at 11/10 .
Although the way the first two races have gone for me ( backed kerrieonvic and Rupert Lamb ) that might change

Urano looks a cracking bet at evens here. Gun to head, I be with him all day against this lot. This tight track might keep his mind on the job that bit better too, be very surprised if they get close to him.

regarding the bumper, trainer of Contessa is 0/22 last five years in bumpers, he does not seem to target them.
I think Beluckyagain is the likely winner with Blazing West a likely outsider with good bumper breeding

Had a good cut on him at 11-4 myself. To be fair to Enright, he saved every yard, until a sticky jump two cost him ground and track position. Very unlucky to come down, the jump he threw would have sealed it had he landed running. Instead of rolling!! Oz, the missus wants to know what you want?!!

I've gone in again anyway Kav. He will probably need to putt better tonight to win, but he knows that himself, so hopefully he has ironed it out in practise. Just seemed to be pulling a few. Dusty is far from solid under pressure, Webb likewise, and Zach has never performed well here apart from 1st two days this week. But he holed everything for 36 holes, so that will always put a gloss on a round or two. It cant continue, and didn't yesterday. The -11s and -10s aren't out of it, though will need help.
Do you have Ernst backed to finish last Kav? Home and hosed there. How the **** he won an event I will never know.
I have an ante post bet I am going to do. Just trying to sort out enough accounts, so can get what I want on. Personally think it a great bet. If you want in, send me a PM, I hope to get it on tomorrow, will message you before I strike my bet. I assume price will go quick.
Oz or Pa might be interested either. It a golf bet.

Backed Mullins in the bumper myself. Not a fan of Paddy Mullins, not even an average amateur, but I get the feeling if we had never seen Golantilla, then we wouldn't be seeing such a short price on Cloudy. And there is no reason for that link.
Kav, if you want to send me on you mobile number in a PM, I will text you.

Studying this week's events at the moment after taking this tournament off.
I agree Spieth looks the most likely winner despite his inexperience. He has nerves of steel and his ranking of 4th in Final Round Scoring Average last year says plenty about him.
Had a small nibble at Gary Woodland at 40/1 each way. A quick start and he could be right among the leaders and he can really attack the closing holes if he is in contention.
Good luck to all who are involved.

In Urano's maiden hurdle there was a few quid around for the Fogarty Portrait Gallery horse Samanntom. As someone said earlier the early pace that Mikey Fogarty set was fairly suicidal so the horse died three from home.
From an exchange market that offered big prices I noticed a layer offer €150 at 50's not far from the off. This amount stood out as being significant at the time.
Hard to know what to make of it?

Paulie , the greatest aftertimer in racing , for one so knowledgeable after the event , where everyone one is a complete fool in your eyes , i.e. Pugh , O'Brien , Ahern , etc ..King of the after timers put up your own selections Before the race and let us see how CLEVER you are , or else stfu....

Snap crackle......with the air of confidence.....you'd swear it was Aidan and not Sean......for a fella that trains 2 winners a year.....it was staggeringly positive.......callitascuit is correct.....if they didn't hav golantilla then theres no way it would be as short......I neither laid nor bet it so its not pocket talk.......

Cheers roar, 1/1 money Urano the horse shoud've been something like 2/9 in hindsight I know, but I did say he could be a great price after the race did I not?. I backed it up with a few quid, lost a few quid later nothing to get too upset over.
What ever happened to that Cloudy thing?, I hate bumpers and to be honest I couldn't be bothered backing in them, give me a handicap hurdle or maiden hurdle anyday.

Just flew through the highlights there and anyone on Sterling Stuff was very unlucky. I'd say the same for Rupert Lambe backers as judging how near the 125 rated second got to Toner, I'd have really fancied Rupert to deliver had he stood up. Urano looked a reformed character there with being held up really seeming to suit him, I'd say he can take his winners of one next.
Probably a horrible thing to say, but you really have to watch these small point trainers trying to make a name for themselves and their horses. Sometimes having had a pretty good one can make them get a little above their station. They rode the thing like it was Denman so at least O'Brien was genuine as the market also suggested. If Willie sees that interview tonight I'd say he'll have a little chuckle to himself. The way he discussed the Sir Des Champs interview was top-class and he is a brilliant interview for everything except future plans for his best horses.
Is this meeting always on a Monday?, seems a strange spot for a fixture to me?

Sounds like he was getting ahead of himself a bit so paulie, as you say he hardly does train 2 winners a year, you would wonder what he has to work it with at home that was giving him such confidence

The guy talks a good game and you'd need that. You'd guess he was going by eye and what he had seen with Golantilla. Brave man, you wouldn't want to be wrong like that on TV too many more times or you'll get a Clive Brittain like rep which no small trainer can afford to carry.

good old corky hardly covered himself in glory either.......there can be little doubt it was ridden too aggressively.....most amateur riders don't have a lot between the ears.....but one of the exceptions is Patrick Mullins....he may not be the most stylish.....but he is largely effective......and rarely rides a bad race..... another jockey who performed poorly was Enright......that horse in the handicap hurdle should have won.....and shouldn't have been depending on a good jump at the last either....

Yeah, you're right there Paulie. I saw Oliver Brady do similar during the summer in a 12f Roscommon maiden, but his yoke won!!
Its a right balls really as they didn't learn anything either with the way they rode the horse( a mixture of brain-dead and arrogant)......thinking on it, if it was that nice a horse and it really wanted good ground, it wouldn't have been there today.

It may be true that some people know of Sean OBrien only because of Golantilla but he did have him and whats more he landed a very nice touch and sold him for a fortune. He has had about 20 winners under rules to date so I would expect we will see more of him.

Yeah, the lads are knocking them in at a fair rate. Martin is fairly raving about Golantilla in print but they are leaving it very late now to start over flights.
I don't know Wildman, if I'm at his level and someone like Willie Mullins has a runner in a bumper against me, I'd say no more than that she is a nice mare and she should go well. Today smacked a little of a fella who had a big pay day and thought he had everything figured.
Hubris is a b astard with horses, and he wasn't saying those things for the benefit of the punter, the price was gone, small bit conceited.

Paulie , you are correct , i'm talking to you , all you do is bleat , time after time , nothing positive to say , though when your breadwinner makes a balls of it , its all quiet on the western front ...So much for a balanced view...Everyones wrong bar you , as far as I can see...
