Cork 12.30 ..This fellow has been a little disappointing , they thought he would go right to the top ..Tomorrow represents his best chance in a while to return to the winners enclosure imo ..He's been highly tried and found wanting in top class company , the drop in class and small field and the first time fitting oc c/ps should bring about a change in fortune ..His main opponent Turban looks to me as if he needs a step in in distance , so am hoping his turn of foot will win the day ....
Is that the one where he beat Fulton Tony, unless Fulton is any kind of a horse that looked a woeful bumper. I don't like Limerick form carrying forward anyway but if you knew Fulton was a fair horse than that is a different matter.
Anyone think Waaheb is the perfect horse to train for a Galway Hurdle, Weld would love nothing more I'd say and that 2/1 might be too good to be true. Not the horse I thought he'd be from his Bumper days. He's too soft to be a grade 1 horse, but he strikes me as one who would enjoy carrying a low weight and beating up on inferiors in a big field on nice ground.

Yeah tony looks as if the money is down , still you never know in horse racing ...Think i'll spend the rest of the day walking in the country , Naas card tomorrow is a shocker , even though Briar hill is running , very poor fare ...

Backed Defining Year e.w at 6s against you Tony. Bit disappointing last week, and 8 days not really enough time to derive huge benefit from the run, but DK must be happy with him. Slight drawback I suppose is he went very cheaply for a yoke rated 105, but this looks very poor apart from the fav, who although fully entitled to be fav is no world beater himself. Certainly a much lower class contest than what he contested at Leop.

Unlucky Tony, was just about to post similar. Keep backing 3/1 shots that go off at 6/5 and you'll be fine.
I'd say a maiden hurdle at Cork isn't foremost in Davy's mind at the minute. He could be thinking of the bills!!

Wasn't really watching, but did he not just get outpaced? Probably would have been better off making it alright, but looks slow. Terrible race. Defining Year has obviously lost a lot of his ability.

Haven't seen a paper Tony but i'd say Davy will be like a Piranha, he's a stright-forward type that you wouldn't have minded seeing the 7lb taken off of on that ground. Davy possibly over-complicated things. Isn't Cork a bit of a front-runners track as well?

That might be a fair point Callit,he certainly seemed in a good position jumping the last down the back, picture went off him and he was way behind. Tony can,t believe you never looked at the jockey, that,s sloppy.

Avondhu Lady looks a steering job. I would make it 8-13, rather than 2.48 it is now. In some situations, these chasers coming back to hurdles and looking 'thrown in', are simply better chasers, and hence are not as well handicapped over hurdles as their mark suggests. In this instance, it looks like the mare has just simply improved, the discipline not being the catalyst for that. It took her til her 7th run over fences to open her account, and that at 20-1, so she hadn't suddenly improved for the switch to fences. She looks to have just slowly found her way. I would be surprised if she cant reach very similar heights over hurdles, hence should really be winning today.

I am against you lads on avondhu, not getting carried away with her handicap rating over hurdles as compared to fences...I think she has been refusing to win, plenty of others with chances including sherika, happy to lay at 5/4, these mares handicaps have a life of their own.
and for the record vicangelonme has never before run in bumper tony.....I think it is head and shoulders above these as long as the handbrake is released. been told hogans worked well recently, he is a hawk wing with a low strike rate jockey, rather chance tyners...his point form is miles better than mangans mare.

Girl in Blue runs inexplicaple stinker, Castlerock rose who I backed at Limerick over xmas at a big price in a poor race was suddenly much more prominent today to be just run out of a place, you just couldn't be up to them.

Silver, the brother knows Dan Rohan in Midleton and he phoned me and said he thought the horse would run well(phoned me a couple of times before as well with her) honestly thought she had little chance as she is very moderate and didn,t go near her, at one stage thought she was going to win but not for the first time finished poorly.

That maybe so pa but it has some decent enough form in the book notably a defeat of Kashline at Limerick, I thought it was well worth a stab ew in that race at Limerick but out the back from the start and pulled up, big step up just a few days later.

Be fair that Limerick run was her first since May, doubt very much he is doing anything untoward, sure the fella has just the one win under rules and it would be no harm for him to have another few.

Pa, Castlerock also had a couple of good place runs at Limerick, I wouldnt use first run since May as an excuse especially when it can run pretty close to its best form just a few days later, funny how it was shot straight up towards the head of affairs today?.

just a little warning for anyone backing the nicholls horses over the next month..he has given then there flu jabs..ive found(to my cost) that they run below expectations for a week or two..after there jabs..other yards im not sure.

You'd be right Silver, he certainly can't. I'm a big believer in the raw material as well, but there are plenty that ruin it, Mullins isn't one of those.
This is as bad a mid winter as I can remember from him in a few years in terms of Flagship horses getting beaten and/or injured.

He did, for the reference of roadrunner, that is what most would consider to be putting a horse forward as one that should be backed in future. No one can make anything of an exhaustive list with no criteria as to when and when not to step in.
The Gotchee called Playing to the inch.

Took a chance on Indian Jack in the 3.45. Would be prepared to forgive his last run, when backing up very quickly. Take that out, and he be about the 11-4 mark today. 7s looked worth the risk.

Pa, what sort of team will whinger put out?, he's notorious for resting his poor overworked under paid players, but been a north London derby the fans won't forgive him if he plays a weakened team against their arch enemies.
Spurs have been playing much better since the AVB sacking, though when Utd got the quick goal back against them they seemed to panic and were very lucky to come out with the 3 points.
I don't think I'll play should be a very entertaining game all the same.
My FA treb was going ok, Southampton 2-0, Brighton 1-0 but Grimsby went one up on Huddersfield, looked at match stats at HT, Grimsby 4 attempts one on target (goal) Huddersfield 18 attempts 6 on target 67% of the possession.

Wanted to be with Arsenal as well Tony but Spurs have just one change since the Man U game,so a strong team,so leaving it. Apologies for going a bit off topic as its a quite brilliant racing thread.

Decalec the FA Cup is not what it used to be when the competition actually meant something to the top teams, I remember the pubs back in the 80's (the days before Sky) been packed to the rafters even if you didn't support the teams involved.
You have to thread very carefully betting in it these days, having said that Boro looked like they were improving.

Cork a front running track ? I never took Cork to be in that category. Is it not a flat, galloping track with sweeping bends and a long run-in ? The classic front running track is surely Fakenham -a tight oval with sharpish bends and a short run-in.

I just seem to notice horses taking it up there plenty early and holding on Vubiant. Maybe its surface is tough to make up ground on, I could be wrong.
