Top notch jock who has put himself a notch ahead of the likes of Townend in the chase for best in the business and successor to the likes of Walsh,Mc Coy etc, great balance and fantastic hands.

He would get a better tune out of Our Conor without a doubt.

A jockey to keep an eye on in is young Shane Shortall, who was 4th in the PP yesterday and gave a great ride today to finish 2nd on Roman General in the 2nd race, even with the horse unsettled before the start.  He is mostly with Tony Martin, and doesnt ride too many winners for himLaugh. I think he can ride out a finsh though.

Of course I still maintain the horses ability should be 95% of your betting strategy, but how about Aidrian Heskin a barely talked about jockey who is fearless and fires horses into every hurdle or fence at the business end?.

Silvergreaser , one of the lads at the r/p did a survey last week re jockeys effectiveness in a finish and how he rated them , some surprises i must say , I think he rated a/p 11th and i dont think ruby was even sighted...

Cooper was better than 95% of jockeys ever will be at 17 or 18. I'd put him a long long way ahead of Townend, his riding style is painting by numbers compared to Cooper's. Cooper is a much better judge of pace and has better track craft, just always seems to be in the right place.

that's a big comment neill, as you know I respect your opinion..but what ive seen I rate townend a superior horseman..but its all about opinions..my only fault with townend is his head..he knows hes good..and sometimes is overconfident..

I'm anti-Townend since Felix Younger, blinded by bitterness I amLaugh. nah, he is good as well, i'm just high on cooper on the basis of recency probably.

Serious question re Cooper.  Who would he ride in the GN?  Brian you can answer if you like!
