he will be going to coolmore for sure rr id say
By:
more likely to end up in rubyisgodinthesaddle's back yard, with him taking care of the horse after its racing days are over.
By:
v well bred.he might make a low grade stallion
By:
Just replace the B in the 2nd part of its name with a C and it sums this horse up for me.
By:
Doubt if he was wanted today,a massive drifter,I think he is this years Alderwood.
By:
A friend of mine said the same at naas today Wildmanfromborneo ...Pointed out that w/o him in the field Malloney was a 1/9 shot , and they got 7/4 for their money ...
By:
I don't like his sire but think they are going the Alderwood handicap route with him.
Defy Logic is their Arkle horse so not going there has to be a handicap. |
By:
big drifter today.....drifted from evens all the way out to evens........the signs were there for all to see.....
By:
He opened 9/10 for your info ....and there was plenty of 5/4 for a while...Come racing as John would say...
By:
Didn't see the racing today but that was never going to be the be all for a horse like this. He already had a reputation so why not use that rep to make a good mark a very good one. I'd doubt he had done much at home since the last day.
By:
He was 2.3 here on the off.
What do you think of him Paulie ? Do you think he tried today ? Many times last year I pointed out the way Alderwood was being run on unsuitable ground and in the Fairyhouse race sailing close to the wind in the not trying stakes, think this fellow going down the same route. |

"I wouldn’t say there is anything wrong with the yard, my horses are just not firing. Maybe that is as good as Ned Buntline is, but he was disappointing, and Very Wood only started running when the race was over. He did make a mistake at the wrong time and maybe he will make a better chaser."

before people get carry away with this bollix ^^^ ned buntline will not be running at the festival.dont waste any ante post bets on this nag.

By:
I'd find it interesting that they are so keen to tell us all he is useless, they are rarely so forthcoming.
By:
Horse is about as tough as a marshmallow
By:
Give him time, you wouldn't know what he might do when he strengthens up, he is doing it all on raw ability at the minute. I've seen much worse come through after a sticky start to be a force in Irish Graded races. What is gas is that I've have seen Meade give way more 'time' to horses who haven't looked to have near his potential. It all only serves to make me wonder if there is a plan.

By:
If he was with Willie mullins, he'd still be over flights learning his trade, they have appeared to fck him up......it all looks a bit obvious to me...and now yer man coming out spouting off, not sure when the Racing public was last afforded the knowledge that a promising McManus horse wasn't Graded class. now he might not be Grade 1 class, but that isn't a baarier to pissing up in a big festival handicap of a mark in the 130's. Look at what they have done with Carlingford Lough.

willie mullins didnt waste time letting florida pearl learn his trade over flights.
he went straight chasing if you remember. |
By:
Fair enough Mitch but this fella doesn't look to finish his races as well he should and you'd hope that might be weakness.
By:
I'm not sure the approach did Missed That any good in the jumping department and he might have cooled on it going by Champagne Fever.
By:
sorry to labour the point, thought the second reply hadn't gone through.
By:
It could be weakness alright. might even be a slight wind problem but probably the main reason at the moment is hes pulls too much and does too much on the bridle to be able to finish races strongly. needs to settle.

Decent enough run from Ned Buntline at Naas considering he was giving 6lbs to a course specialist (third course win),on ground he loves and who had a R.P. rating for his first run over fences equal to that of N B. and a hurdles rating actually higher by 2lbs, I think ..Malloney was a good bet on the day on reflection .Well done Workrider I think it was you who flagged him up on Sunday. But after saying all that I just can not see any comparison between this fellow and Alderwood but for the colours the jock will carry.Even if he is campaigned in the same manner over the next few weeks as Alderwood last year and turns up in the G Annual I wont be touching him with a barge pole . At this stage he has achieved nothing compared to A wood over hurdles , a winner of the toughest 2m handicap of any year in the County,(festival form) a grade 2 at Fairyhouse and a grade 1 at Punches in what was essentially a swamp. His toughness was well proven where as Ned Buntline is showing signs of being the complete opposite. Looks a horse that would be much better suited by a track like Liverpool.
By:
I would agree he bears no resemblance to Alderwood Oufies, a tough sort, who keeps finding and ideally suited to further. He is though very similar to Bellvano, bridle horse who will love big field, flat out gallop, and the perfect balls of steel ride from Carberry.

Fota Island springs to mind for me when i watch ned run.
By:
The horse was beaten after 1 fence at Naas. He had no chance(Yes i did lay it). He could have had a chance if he had been let stride on but he will never win a decent race unless he settles. Id say his next few races will be a similar story and not because the horse is a non jigger but because he needs to be taught to settle. If he pulled like he did at Navan in a decent race he would be tailed off.
By:
Don't think he is a traditional non-trier, but he is being let run away through the winter gaining valuable experience especially in the jumping department. He was kept out of the Christmas fare in case he might run up the arse of something maybe? He probably isn't ready for that anyway. Maybe they will start putting the emphasis now on reigning him in for the spring Festivals. They've landed good pots with less.
By:
The horse will never be more than a handicapper.
By:
I wouldn't be sure what he might do if he'd ever settle!!
Does this freeness tendancy ever correct itself. Say now if he is driven out hard to the line some day when he is legless having pulled too hard, might he remember that feeling the next time he is racing and learn that he has to pace himself? or would it just sour him? |
By:
Massive difference between Bellvano / Fota Island and Ned Buntline .Belvano trained by "Festival King" N Henderson ...Fota Island trained by M Morris,no better man to ready one for the March showpiece .....Ned Buntline trained by N Meade whos record at Cheltenham speaks for its self. Three novice hurdle winners in thirty odd years.( One of which would most likely have finished second had Hurricane fly not missed race due to injury).
