has shown a good turn of foot in the past, its all too easy to forget that impressive performance in the guineas, english and irish horses have been performing above average, must be a vintage year, or does this happen every year

To be fair, Joseph done nothing wrong on DOW. Winner prob had a bit more in hand than winning margin suggests. Seemed to be idling slightly. Now if Moore was riding The Fugue............

I certain Magician is....horse is prob the most underated ever from Coolmore and that is saying something because they cant even believe it! Galileo by Mozart....jeez this lad be in all the top races next year if they keep him sound.

That ride that was given to Havana for Coolmore in Pletchers stable was awful...clearly the best horse just went far too soon.
In real time I couldn't believe how poor that was.

Looks like Ryan Moore has taken some lessons in Ballydoyle hyperbole,
"I had him in a lovely rhythm, nice and relaxed," said Moore. "He must be one of the best horses I've ever ridden."

Imo Ryan Moore's ride was very poor. With any other sort of decent ride he would have won more easily. Just as well those up front were probably not up to much and/or got bad rides.

Watch the ride both horses got. Buick **** himself mid race, that he was so far back. Moore sat and waited. When Buick closed to the coat tails of the leaders, he then took a pull, but remained on the outside, 4 wide, rather than tucking in. He then asked her again, going 4 wide around the bend in the hottest part of the race, having already used up valuable petrol in prematurely and over quickly making a move on the leaders. Moore made his ground gradually, and evenly, firstly resulting in him losing no ground on the bend, then pulling wide to make his move, and having enough left in the tank, having not compromised his mount by using too much gas too early. Considering Buick was on a filly that was racing over slightly further than her optimum trip, his ride was baffling. In any walk of life, the quickest way from point A to point B is to go a sustainable even pace. Buick didnt read the script, Moore followed it to a tee. Change jockeys, change result. Fact.

The general consensus is that The Fugue got a bad ride and to a large degree I reckon that saved Moores bacon and does not prove that Magician got the optimum ride. I believe he didnt but got lucky.

I backed The Fugue and had no complaints about the ride at the time, only saw it in Shelbourne and ain't seen it since or a replay but as it happened I was fine with it

Suppose its all about opinions Arkle. Yes, if The Fugue got a better ride, Magician would not have won. But Moore could do nothing about that, he simply wasn't on the best horse. But The Fugue wasn't given the chance to perform to the best of her ability, hence with Moore doing everything right on Magician, he was there to benefit. There was always the chance Buick would forfeit ground going wide, with his nightmare failed rail run from last year fresh in his memory. But two wrongs don't make a right, and the mare really should have two Breeders Cup wins to her name.

Yes Call opinions play a big part in racing and everything that goes with it and long may it continue. I do reckon however that Magician could be something special.

He is obviously very talented alright Arkle, but personally think although very impressive in the Guineas, that race too was set up for him, with Manning going off at a suicidal gallop. It sounds like im trying to crab the horse, not at all, I backed him on Saturday night, just think he has benefitted from others errors to a degree, however slight or otherwise.

Quite possibly the most ludicrous thing ive ever read on here,And that's going some.

One should not be able to win a race of that standard from that far back UNLESS one is on a very very good horse and/or the other jockeys are also fcuking up.

ryan moore rode one of best calculated rides ive seen, from visual impression the horses upfront set a very fast pace, all the horses seemed to be strung out from very early on, kept the horse at the back and didnt panic, must of known they were going to fast and would slow down in the last two furlongs and so conserved the horses energy and just finishing best to beat the fugue, showed his excellent skills in the saddle, buick is useless IMO, hes not bad or great.

The reason he was that far back Arkle, was because they were going too fast. His plan, as was told to AOB, was to jump and get across, and be handy. He immediately realised they were setting fractions too fast, and tucked him in behind. And then he trusted his judgement, by not panicking and making a big mid race move, like Buick(who had The Fugue in an ideal spot, until shi**ing himself 5 out and rushed to close the gap on leaders). Pace is the single most important factor in the outcome of a race, Moore judged it perfectly. All accolades that come his way as a result of the ride, are deserved.

i can see magician winning four or five group 1's in a row next year. only really good horses win group 1's over 1 mile and then 1m 4f in same season............serious serious gears this horse has.

You know Aidan O'Brien has had more Breeders Cup starters than Bob Baffert?, I think Bob is in front by one in the winners stats.
Since they started the Friday night Cup races Aidan has had 33% of all Europen trained runners since 2007, incredible statistic?

reimer I find it incredible that Aidan has had more runners at the Breeders Cup than one of America's top trainers, the nearest Europen trainer to O'Brien is Stoute with 39 runners with 4 winners.
Aidan has 8 winners with something in the mid 80's runners wise
Some firepower when you can have more runners than loads of top American trainers?.

It was great to see Davy Moran and James Graham riding in the Breeders Cup this year. Two journeymen jockeys when they were riding in Ireland but their talent has been recognised in the USA and Canada. Because of the nepotism and patronism in this country young talented jockeys haven't got a chance. They have a great saying in America "it's not who you are, it's where you're at".

Gotchee Seamie had 3 winners out of 3 the other day, so I'm sure Seamie would've beat Mick Kinane's record hands down if given the nepotistic treatment, and Seamie would not have put up overweight suggest he would've rode more winners than Daddy's golden Boy?

Be interesting the plan they go with him next year. They could do a Cape Blanco and ship him off stateside for the season but the fact is he is too good for that treatment. Their is very few horses that could beat him over 10f next year.
I can't believe the comments about Moore here, horse tried an extra 4f for the first time half way around the world. Moore had nothing to go on other than his judgement. It was just a fantastic ride....and Magician prob was a doubtful stayer and we dont even know does he stay a true 12f even after this win. He won by allowing the face pace insue...picking apart his gaps on as tight as track as you will find and just delivering the horse to perfection to in the final strides. Horse wasn't even keen after going 4 months without a race and going a slower gallop that he was used to. Just an amazing performance all round/ .

You are very right silver, not to mention that Michael Hussey rode two winners, last week at Leopardstown, (one being his first G3) from two rides for the Ballydoyle mafia.
