Another poor turn out for the Dewhurst, last year had only 6 runners as well 2 from Bolger Dawn Approach the unbackable fav and a pacemaker, 2 from O'Brien and only 2 English challengers.
No runner for Bolger this year considering he's won 5 of the last 7 runnings?.

The Godolphin horse looks a live danger to War Command some decent form in the book.

Great White Eagle has done it well each time but the form of his victims since is hardly inspiring, but a good chance he's better than the bare form and its hardly a vintage middle park, but I certainly wouldn't be lumping on him.

The Darwin bubble was burst last time the drop back to 7f should help, but I'm sceptic about his defeat of GLB who I think wasn't anywhere near fully tuned up so I'm going to have a little ew the German horse Amarillo.

Think they have a great e/w chance in the 5:25 race with Afonsa de souse,last weekend spin around Dundalk should have him peaked ready for this race.

He didn't ride at Dundalk last night oufies suggests he was doing some heavy sauna sessions?.

Rode 9st on Marvellous at Navan during the week,didn,t give any mention of OW, presume he will do it okay on that.

Good spot Silver ,he probably was in the steamer alright. Hope for his sake he does the weight ok today as with a fair bit at stake it wont wash too well across the water if he is beaten  in a tight finish on some of these.

well that answers it wildman, by having the day off before today probably worked out just nicely so he could concentrate in keeping the 1lbs off.

Hope he didnt go on the beer,actually race riding is a great way of keeping your weight in check.

I don't like any of his horses today and think they are all for laying.

GWE , is a smashing horse , on its debut in Naas it had to be  reshood and was as quiet as a church mouse , then at the business end came through and won going away , at the Curragh stepped up and again did the business , lots more to come from this fellow and worth following till beat , you will go a long way to see a better looking horse than Darwin , a straping fellow who looks more like a 4 yo , but this is tough and dangers abound so will be leaving this race alone ....

Some decent cards today,Kilala Quay(1.92) is a confident selection in the novice hurdle at Chepstow. His Aintree novice hurdle win has worked out well with 10 length second Billyfromthebar winning 3 times since.Although the Aintree win was on soft ground,the ground he will face today shouldn't inconvenience him because he won a Uttoxter  bumper on good ground.Returning after 4 months off isn't a concern with Charlie Longsdon in blistering form(Biased and small sample size but 15 winners from last 26 runners)

Rolling Maul has looked visually impressive winning a couple of mediocre Fos los bumpers but hard to asses the merit of the form and with the benefit of hurdling experience,I'd be surprised if KIlala Quay wasn't able to dispose of these even with a penalty

I think Sohar is a cracking e.w bet at 40s(5 places), in the Ces. Would have preferred more rain, but good to soft should be fine, given the likely pace, and nature of the race. A couple of decent efforts would give her every chance here, granted they both came with plenty more give in the ground. She does nothing quickly, but todays stamina test could bring about enough improvement to see her involved. Didn't like the surface at Kempton last time, the time before that she started only 8-1 for the marathon at Goodwood, with Frankie up, all suggesting she was expected to go well, she totally fuc*ed up the flag start and her race was over. Before that at Ascot, she was only beaten 3 1/2 lengths by Chiberta King getting 5lb. Today she gets 22lb. True the slow gallop at Ascot may have led to the field being more compact at race end, but Sohar too would have preferred a stronger gallop, and softer ground. She will get both today. Worth an interest imo.

Secret Witness looks worth few bob e.w at 33s in 3.30 York. Though have also backed Baccarat. Surely still has plenty of scope off current mark. Just needs things to fall right for him.

Secret witness is one of those horses that pops up when you least expect it.

What did ye make of the Dewhurst??War Command could only beat what's there but the form hardly looks exceptional with cable bay in second(an exposed maiden winner who has been well beaten in group 3's previously).
War Command looks a grinder to me and would be surprised if he is in contention at Newmarket next may(particularly on good ground).

Good ground would suit him being by war front and showed he acts on it in the Coventry just doesn't look a guineas winner to me.

Dj, if War Command is considered one of Ballydoyle's best which I presume he is as they sent him for the Dewhurst?, and with GWE very disappointing in the Middle Park might suggest they haven't got anything outstanding, then again Bolger had no entry in a race he farmed in recent years suggests he hasn't got a top class colt, the English have nothing by the looks of things, if the French have a few decent ones I'll be sending them over for next years guineas, as it stands they have some really good 2yo fillies.

Of course everything could change come next May but as things stand the juvenile ranks amongst the colts are probably not all that hot this season?.

War Command didn,t impress me either,thought it was just a workmanlike victory as well,believe the form with the 2nd and the winner of the Middle Park(Astaire) is very very nearly on par with War Command. Johann Strauss and last nights winner Giovanni Boldini are two outsiders from the stable i,d nearly prefer to him at this stage.

Whatever happened to Stubbs who went off 5/2 fav for the Coventry travelled like the best horse before weakening into 5th late on?, that War Command went off an unconsidered 25/1 shot that day would suggest that Stubbs was showing more on the gallops, we haven't seen him since?.
