Since the start of 2010 AP McCoy's record in Ludlow bumpers reads 13111111123 for a level-stake profit of £7.88 to £1 stakes. He rides Stormbay Bomber in the 5.10 for Rebecca Curtis, whom is he two from two for at the course.    stormbay bomber is a 5.4 shot in the last at ludlow.Happy

Interesting that Costelloe flogged this before he makes his debut rather than trying to win a bumper first and getting McCoy to broker a deal with his boss.

interesting spot frank and, arguably, a case of "lies, damned lies and statistics". With a record of 8 from 11 in the past it seems Rebecca's winners must have been mostly standout odds on shots so that have been the qualification.

On the other hand Aidan won a maiden today with a race he has farmed in recent years so stats have a place but only as a guide. My own preference is to highlight the chances of decent-priced outsiders in big handicaps and dutch a couple or using a trainer's previous record at a particular track and grade to give me encouragement if I fancy something unexposed.

There's so much, too, to be gained from statistical research that doesn't concentrate just on past winners.

"My" Hazy Days ran in a 5f apprentice handicap (of all things) today giving "Socks"
Madden possibly his first ride in public. The JP colours have been lowered but the diehards keep the faith.

Most of those Curtis horses were for Sale I think so they'd have to show a bit of confidence in the horse by punting it?....and trying?

i had a bet on bet on  Stormbay Bomber,it had every chance but drop away in the last furlong,  so much for stats.

It seems to have been sold before the race Neil or at least the ownership transfer was completed officially on 28 September (from what I recall looking at earlier).

They are a different proposition when they are still in Costelloes own colours they are trying to lure JP.

didn't know anything about the race today DV but what you said there is what I would have thought too.

No fault there with Hazy Days Royal Academy, really thought you were on to something as well after looking at his first few runs, not to get competitive in that race think would quash any lingering hope whatsoever with him.

You may well be right pa but, so far, Madden is doing a nice job if he still has some faith in the horse. Yesterday's trip over a completely inadequate trip was just to give the young lad a day out I think. As I like to think I have a good eye for unexposed horses DW doesn't often get these young 3yo handicappers wrong and as he's only cost me money once so far (a backed and blinkered one-mile run in a Naas handicap under Berry) I can afford to be patient.

Looking at the run again think you are more than likely right R A, it wasn,t bad at all as you say considering the trip. Down to go again very shortly.
Like your style in general in that you pick a core and follow them, know you wouldn,t be the type of person to do it but sincerely hope you will be giving an ah lapsy that post was a bit out in the near future.
