Relevant now because of the current vacancy but please ignore these markets. This is a relatively new type of betting and one that has been unbelievably lucrative for bookmakers. The last time the Irish job came up fortunes were lost by naive punters including ten thousand from one gentleman who because a taxi driver he knew carried Didier Deschamps to Merrion Squre thought it was a done deal and backed him at 4/5 the rumour having spread earlier. That market went on for ages but the eventual winner wasn't even quoted at the start, tis that that's unfair.
These markets are also open to manipulation as when the Newcastle job became vacant a well known Londoner feigned interest in the job went as far as being interviewed meanwhile some associates were busily laying here, huge sums were involved.
In a previous Irish manager market an insider who knew George the Greek tipped off some punters about a done deal, this at least was a genuine one and they made a few bob,no market here then.
