I fancy under 2.5 goals here at 1.8, going to the game so not sure i want to back this and then hope for no goals at the game Plain
Report db1974 September 6, 2013 1:41 PM BST
Has to be the draw surely, although if it's a draw we are as good as gone
Report kingkauto September 6, 2013 2:29 PM BST
As much as it hurts from a patriotic viewpoint a win lay of Ireland looks the way to profit. This is based on the current team tactics and our record against such opponents.. If we take an early lead it could be a good chance for the double smash at better odds as we are sure to park the bus for the rest of the match..
Report vinnie_roe September 6, 2013 3:42 PM BST
The squad are suggesting that we need 4 pts from the 2 games. That might be correct, but it's imperative that we achieve the 3pts against sweden.
Report reb September 6, 2013 5:09 PM BST
The Under 2.5 is very tempting at 1.78
Report roadrunner46 September 6, 2013 6:37 PM BST
does anyone remember the goal ibrihimovic scored against england, was out of this world. gonna be difficult stopping a class act
like him. england normally struggle to beat sweden, this irsih team is the best for a long time. hope they win, think sweden can
get the win tonight.

Ireland team out yet?
Report dj876 September 6, 2013 9:38 PM BST
Workhorses against Footballers, torn apart and warned before winning goal.
Simon Cox coming on right wing and leaving Houlihan on the bench and then Pilkington -bizarre decisions and probably his last relevant ones.
As for singing Fields of Athenry in the 89th minute-Keano was right last summer about that.

Desperate viewing, not 1 chance really on goal for the last 70 minutes. One poor team.

Good call kingkauto .

He refused to change the system and the style of play, from the time he joined, all the way to the end.
Report joe9000 September 6, 2013 9:52 PM BST
jeez, no1 has mentioned Wilson yet, different class of bad and not subbed off, same 4 Long, was way off pace 2nite
Report Dan Chipowski September 6, 2013 10:19 PM BST
Wilson achieved something rarely seen on a football field, namely rivalling Glen Whelan in terms of sh!tness.

First half was ok, for all that our only outlet was pumping long balls up. Second half we couldn't even manage that much. Half of them looked unfit.
Report walllace007 September 6, 2013 10:24 PM BST
Our home record is woeful, we havent beaten a team of note at home in years and this wasnt about to change tonight so it was an easy decision to lay and again when we went ahead. The way we are set up playing away from home suits us better.

People slag off Robbie Keane but 60 goals for his country, phenomenal record. History will be kind to him.
Report walllace007 September 6, 2013 10:26 PM BST
Speaking of Glen Whelan, the first time i noticed him was when he fouled for the yellow card. Granted I wasnt totally fixated on the game but still..
Report The Bhoys September 6, 2013 10:41 PM BST
His midfield decisions are fu cking killing us
Report vinnie_roe September 6, 2013 10:53 PM BST
His system is killing us. It never changes.

The quality of Irish player is awful. Is there any Irish player would make any of the top teams in any of europes leagues?

Trap did a great job getting this rubbish to a major finals.

Mc Carthy, Mc Clean & Wilson, if this is the hope for Ireland we will end up in pot 5 in the not to distant future.

After the wonderful match in Croker last Sunday how do people look at this drivel. Was in my local last night and the amount of people who sat with their backs to the TV and carried on in conversation was unreal.Think people are not only wising up to the Irish soccer team but the poxy game as well.
Report Diamond_Joe_Quimby September 7, 2013 11:53 AM BST
^ spot on last 2 posts, the idea anyone would pay anything more than Euro 20 to watch that dirge is incredible.
Its not Traps fault either. He knows full well they are garbage and has performed miracles to get them where they are.
Report Diamond_Joe_Quimby September 7, 2013 11:54 AM BST
Actually even 20 is too high. The FAI would have to pay me to watch it.
Report kavvie September 7, 2013 1:51 PM BST
wouldnt go to it if you paid me 200.pure drivel.and at this stage wouldnt you think trap would have mastered basic english?v embarrassing having the little doe eyed one with him still after 5 years..is she getting paid i wonder?

Trap is a bit patchy on the English, but roomers are that he is fluent in irish since he thought that is the language he would need to manager the IRISH national team Grin

Report Roger De Bris September 7, 2013 4:37 PM BST
5 years and his English is still rubbish. Guardiola fluent in German after a few months.....
Report db1974 September 8, 2013 12:00 AM BST
I was at the match and they interviewed his translator at HT on the pitch so I don't know how he got his message across to the boys in the dressing room.

It was awful stuff really. The amount of times the ball went from one full back to the centre back to the other full back only to be passed back to the goalkeeper for a 70-yd punt upfield was despairing and drew a collective sigh from the crowd every time.

Best laugh of the night came when Pilkington came on and some wit in the crowd says "FFS now he's bringing on the King of Hearts"
Report wildmanfromborneo September 8, 2013 12:36 AM BST
Trapattoni is 74 years of age and already fluent in a few languages, hard to learn a new and difficult language at that age.

Lots of complaints about our football team but have a look at the positions of Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland in their respective groups,we are a long way ahead of them.
Report reb September 8, 2013 12:50 AM BST
db, I knew Pilkington reminded me of some fantasy character when I saw him coming on. Couldn't remember which one but your post has cleared it up.
Report Roger De Bris September 8, 2013 10:07 AM BST
Just because our neighbours are in the s**t doesn't mean we have to be.
You either qualify or you don't. It's all the same level of uselessness.
Be done with the senile geezer and start planning for the next qualifying tournament now.
Report kincsem September 8, 2013 4:06 PM BST
Same view as db1974.  I was at the match.  We were restricted to GAA type moves, a high ball from half-way into the box, cleared easily by Sweden.
Report The Bhoys September 8, 2013 10:15 PM BST
When Pilkington came on my da thaught it was beckahm lol
