Anyone else think Dundalk may be a bit of value for this at 12/1 with Ladcrooks?

They sit 2nd in the table, and are in fine form having won 11 of their last 15 in the league. 9 of those wins have come with clean sheets. They have shown that on their day they can match any of the top teams, beating Sligo, Derry and Pats on the road. They beat Shams last night 3-1 and played some lovely football by all accounts.

Given their are question marks around the form of most other teams, and with Pats possibly focusing more on the league prize, I think they could well give this a good go. They do have the trickiest looking draw in the 3rd round, where most of the big teams should progress comfortably,  but do have home advantage to Limerick.

I think there are a couple of Dundalk fans on here. Would be interested to hear your views? Are they over-achieving at present? Might Kenny focus on the league? 12/1 seems big for the team 2nd in the league table, versus for example 7/2 about Shams or 9/2 Sligo.

Not a Dundalk fan, kiddo, but it wouldn't strike me as an outstanding bet. The other books (incl PP) make it 11/1. Also, re the "home advantage", Dundalk's away form (best in Prem) is far superior to their home form this season (despite the team playing on an artificial surface). Given that they're now in a position to challenge for the League themselves, that might actually have a detrimental effect on their Cup challenge at some point.

I don't think the odds are lying in this case.

Just to add, if I were backing Dundalk for the FAI Cup, I would be looking to back them e.w. at this stage. I notice that Ladb are a miserly 1/3 on their place terms. I'd rather back them e.w. at 11/1(1/2) with the other firms than 12/1(1/3).

Im a Dundalk fan and i'd say its overpriced.Nothing flukey about our position atm and we played Rovers off the park last night. We've won 6 from our last 7 home games so nothing wrong with our home form.
Would certainly fancy us to beat Limerick but hard to know how the league will play out and if it become a distraction.Would say around the 7/1 or 8/1 mark would be the correct price.

Well done last night punkha1 , I decided not to go after our inept display last week against Sligo , From what was relayed to me live , ye were much the better team and fully deserved your win ...Crolly is a one dimensional manager , who's been found out , unable to change ,closed mind ,and only his stats to back him up...A sorry state of affairs ...

Cheers workrider yeah i was surprised just how toothless & lacking in ideas rovers were, zayed never got a kick.Crolly looks a bit out of his depth, great coach by all accounts but not a manager imo.

I was at the game v villa today , we showed what we are capable of , maybe thats the wrong thing to say huddys , but you know what i mean .We had a few good chances but never took them , once again Trevor showed he will not change even for a friendly , he had a chance to experiment today and try something new , but the poor guy is caught up in his stats , persisting with robbo and chambers across the middle of the park when both of them are out of their depth ...I was lucky to be invited in for some lunch during half time huddys , Paul mc Grath came and sat beside me and we had a great chat , I felt so sorry for him , even while he was trying to have a bite to eat people were asking him to pose for photos , the poor chap never get a minute to himself ...I asked him about his time at villa , he said he had a great time there , and the fans were great to him ..I said to him if i was a Villa fan i'd be a little worried how easily we got in behind them , Teams who get the kind of chances we had today will put them away ..Worrying times ahead for them , to reliant on one man to score them goals....

Thanks for the feedback lads. I was thinking that there may be some laziness on the part of the bookies with their pricing of this - failing to take into account Dundalk's current form. In fact when the 3rd round draw was made, it took some of the bookies the best part of a week to even update their prices. Have had a small interest at 12s.

QF Draw:
Shels v Dundalk
Pats v Shams

Decent draw for Dundalk, who continue in fine form.

Looking good Kiddo we've been in some form lately winning our last 8 and playing some amazing football.
Really think we've turned into the best team in the league but the markets haven't woken up to it.
14/5 away to Pats tomorrow seems overpriced. We've sold out all our tickets in a day and are bringing down at least 1300.Gonna be some night think we can come away with the win.
