On further investiagtion it apppears all are now in the Setanta(how are they still in existence!) package

The New Setanta Plus Pack now comes with Setanta Sports 1, BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN. Subscribers will have access to 71 Live Barclays Premier League games and lots more.

€16 a month

Think it is an extra £12 a month(sterling prob E15)if you want to subscribe to BT sports through Sky. Know what you mean sky is a pile of shoite except for the sport imo, they lose the contract for the matches and expect you to pay the same price for sky sports 1-4. feckin jokers.
They can take a running jump from me.

It's a real blow for those of us who loved the American sports (NFL previews etc, live baseball, college football etc) that came with ESPNA - all gone now

BT sport showed X-games (WTF that is I don't know) last night instead of baseball

Cry

€20 extra for the Setanta pack through Sky I think.

Not paying it personally as the 12.45pm (BT) and 3pm (Setanta) kick off times wouldn't be preferable.

Espn American & Classic going is a shame too.

Subscribed today.

The college football is worth it on its own.

Live baseball tonight.

IS ESPN America in the package DV? Didnt see it wen i looked, would get it for sure if so
Report lustrumm August 2, 2013 6:17 PM BST
No Guarantee that it will be BJG. It is not in the initial offering and I understand there is no appetitie for BT Sports to include it.

ON the other forum people are asking why they bothered buying the rights to ESPN if they are not going to carry their sports
Report Distant View August 2, 2013 6:36 PM BST
It's not BJG but College Football Live and Live Baseball is on ch 417 this evening so that is encouraging.

Let's hope that those of us who have the UPC package will get some of it free.

Last season we got all the 5 30 matches on Saturday evenings free on ESPN.

We also got a lot of the 3 o'clock matches on Saturday free on Setanta Irl. Only if they were on Setanta Sports 1 or 2 did we not get them.

I understand this season we should get the 12 45 matches on Saturday free on BT. Not sure what the story with the 3 bells matches on Stanta Irl is.

Maybe I am mistakenly wrong.
Report Dan Chipowski August 2, 2013 9:29 PM BST
I don't think you'll be getting any BT matches for free.
Report lustrumm August 3, 2013 9:55 AM BST
Dan is right, no free view at all. Surprised they carried a Baseball game on the main channel (417) last night and perhaps that is the configuration with no ESPN America now.
I guess in reality how it will play out is much less Baseball (The days of 3 live games some nights gone) but the Flagship games (Sunday night Baseball etc..) and the playoffs will be shown.

Also on the other forum there is a reference to getting it turned on for free by Sky if you are a customer of BT Broadband. Probably not many in Ireland but there will be some.

I'll take a wait and see approach, I have no interest in soccer but if they end up getting the Premiership Rugby and are willing to show Baseball and the College Football season albeit on a limited version it is probably worth it at £12 per month

Why anybody would choose UPC over Sky is beyond me
Report one last chance August 3, 2013 11:24 AM BST
Bt sport free if you have a bt broadband package Grin
Report lustrumm August 3, 2013 11:54 AM BST
Thats right OLC apparently. Just call Sky and quote your BT account and they will turn it on for you.

newco for YV you are dead right and I am with Sky Digital and love it. However in these new recessionary times a TV.Broadband package is all important and the UPC 50 MB package is tempting (to me anyway)
Report newco-Joe67 August 3, 2013 12:34 PM BST
I have the UPC 50MB. The packages save a little in theory but you get so much more with SKY and it is slightly cheaper.
Also with SKY they allow you to the play the game so every year you can get them to half price for 6 months if you know what to say to them. That is including your full sports package.
If you stop your service for a while with UPC you get no channels but with SKY you can still avail of many channels with the Add Channel option and the right frequency codes found online.
Report lustrumm August 3, 2013 12:55 PM BST
I am on that deal with Sky newco and it is to their eternal credit that they have cut us some slack. It is a life saver. But hence I am slow now to ring up and take an extra offering after SKY have basically given me 1/2 price for 12 months. Could it come back to haunt us next year when we are out with the begging bowl again?
Report newco-Joe67 August 3, 2013 1:12 PM BST
Sky are making obscene amounts of profit. Remember they want us to view their adverts above everything else, that is were they make their fortunes. They should be paying us really.
I have been getting them on half price deals for 15 years or so, it doesn't matter to them. The game is there to be played so you would be a fool to not play it.
