Surprised that there is no thread about this great race on here yet.

Should be a fascinating race to watch, think a lay of Toronado is the play in this race myself.

I know you might say , has this guy lost it , but i have a sneaky feeling Trade Storm just might upset a few of the more fancied horses , Hes a quirky sort who just might be suited to this track , unlike D.A. who didn't handle the undulations of Epsom , this fellow will love the fast pace that's bound to be set and he just might surprise a few of these , so a little e/w for me @ 70/65 and to place @ 17/1 ....

On reflection and having read Simcock in the r/post , the ground could be going against him....

Surprised to see Declaration of War so strong on here, into 5.1 on here now. Looks a straight match to me

Race of the flat season so far for me. I hate to oppose Hannon and Hughes and horses that travel like Toronado at Goodwood.

Great race Cool,backed Bolger'sSad
Report G Hall July 31, 2013 3:16 PM BST
bolger won't be happy with kevin,he was outridden, mightn't have won,but hughesie rode the better race.
Report silvergreaser July 31, 2013 3:19 PM BST
Maybe G Hall that was the plan?, Toronado better horse today,

Think Manning thought he'd out battle Hughes if it came to a war which it did and he was wrong, don't think he (Manning) did anything wrong, the pace maker missed the break then went too fast and in fairness he looked the winner 2F out (matched at 1.22).

great race..i backed dawn..but fair play to the hannons..but I,ll be backing dawn if they go again..i just think dawn can be better than that, co,s to be fair..hannons won with a bit in hand.. kevin manning kicked on a long way out?..
Report roadrunner46 July 31, 2013 3:25 PM BST
everyone saw the race last time, their was nothing between them LTO, imo dawn approach won it on the nod that day, toranado was stronger today. looked good on the track, channel 4 team was all talking about the extra muscle on torando. race was run to suit the winner.
Report punchestown July 31, 2013 3:53 PM BST
The way it panned out the winner got the run of the race and I think Manning if he had the chance to ride that race again he'd wait a bit longer but hey-that's racing.
Report tony57 July 31, 2013 3:58 PM BST
punchy..dawn wasn't going well ..that's why he kicked?..thats why I wouldn't be surprised if bolger gives some reason why manning did what he did..either way..the winner won nicely

Punchestown I don't think Manning had much choice as he came off the bridle 3 from home so had to push him quite forcefully to get him into top gear, I think he was afraid that if he didn't go for him when he came off the bridle 3 out others might have grabbed a march on him, basically he made the horses mind up for him.

Chance that Goodwood suits Toronado better?.

That track probably doesn't suit DA completely as it is made for strong travellers held up. That said, Toronado is less exposed and making huge improvements physically and he is the one to be with from now on. Great to have two great milers going at each other again. haven't had it in a few years, but Toronado takes over now.

QE2 at ascot in October please God and hopefully Intello comes over for it as i'd say he is two fast to be an Arc horse. Any of the 3 could go for the Champion Stakes though as all 3 would get 10f. Bolger's shouldn't as a slow pace at that trip could blow his brains and as the Hannon horse will probably stay in training next season, they can also afford to wait. Thinking on it, i'd say Intello is most likely to go to the Champion Stakes. as I say, I reckon Toronado beats them all wherever he goes.
Report punchestown July 31, 2013 5:32 PM BST
Heard Bolger on Ch4 after the race "No excuses, beaten by the better horse on the day".

Silver,he did come off the bridle 3F out  which maybe was down to a very stop start race from his viewpoint.

I wonder will any of the 2 be supplemented for the Marois at Deauville Sunday week I doubt it, there is also the Moulin in September as an option.
