2nd major of the year lads, in what is usually one of the toughest ones of the four, due to the penal rough, which is a normal set up for a US open course. No real course form to go on as it is 1981 since the open has been played here. A hurricane swept through the area last week and although accuracy of the tee is still important, with the soft greens the bombers might just get away with it, bearing in mind it is a relatively short par 70 course in relation to most weeks on the PGA tour, my guess is scrambling and putting might just be the more important for this weeks event.
Anyways, having said all that first pick for me is mr straight, J Rose, who's achilles heel is normally his putting! Just hoping the flat stick behaves for him & if it does really can't see him being too far away come sunday.
Next up is a man who should have one at least one major by now, Dustin Johnson. Back from injury this year he has already got a victory to his name in his first start and last week was very encouraging with a t10. Very long off the tee, as long as he isn't too wild & gung ho, great mid/short iron player and streaky putter when on song, hopefully he can give a good account.
Another man who was very encouraging last week, also t10 and always seems to bring his best to the major table is our old friend, love him or loathe him, Padraig. Putting improved dramatically last week and I just feel this par 70 set up will suit him as well, & at the prices well worth the punt in my book & for those of a nervous dispisition, hopefully you will be able to trade your stake back at some stage during the proceedings as backing Pod is not for those that are faint hearted.
Adam Scott is getting a few bob of mine also.
Justin Rose 28/1 ew Dustin Johnson 50's W&PL B/Fair Padraig 110's W & Pl B/Fair Adam Scott 26's Win B/Fair
I aint backed him - have been chippin away on him for The Open but nothin on for this so would b sods law if he won here, been a disaster bettin wise for me thus far! More missin the cut than makin it
Deplasterer has some nice prices on Harrington iirc

With the prospect of about 73 players for weekend, will they still go with one tee?? Prob get third round underway about 3.30 pm. If only one tee, be about 9.30 our time getting the last group out, assuming two balls. That be cutting it very fine for getting leaders full rounds in. Any history of them playing 3 balls over the weekend in this event??

Neither dull nor dour but then most have a financial interest in the event.
Is there a site that gives the up to date scores as I find the Sky coverage poor.

I have a weird way of betting on golf in that I lay the bottlers when they are short.
I have laid both bottlers and players that I thought were too short at the time Harrington Mickelson McIlroy Rose Sendon Donald All still in contention and Scott who is gone.

As said earlier Usopen.com is i think a bit faster than the "ATR" of golf, sky, more so for the first two rounds but still giving a score faster in some cases, haven,t a radio link but nearly sure there would be one. Careful with i/r. on sky.

One thing I have noticed is the market way over reacts to a birdie putt, the player generally shortens way too much immediately and then slowly goes out again.
If you want to lay a player lining up a birdie putt stick your lay a point or two under his price if he holes the putt it will be matched.

Disappointed with Mahans finish, more so the 17th, 18th is fuc*in impossible!! Phil hit two lovely shots, like Tiger on Thursday, and made bogey. Hopefully Hunter can give me a run at it tomorrow. Stenson backed out of it, having seemed set to contend. Will have afew quid on Strick at 8.6. Phil will put himself under huge pressure to win his first Open. Rose wont win. I doubt Luke will. Both balls related, or lack of. Billy wont win. I dont like Charl! Day a bottler. Leaves Strick and Mahan. I dont think Hunter is blessed with the greatest set either, but will hit more fairways than most, and that will count for plenty tomorrow. Strick, like Phil, will be desperate for it, but may just find a way to sink a few more putts, and keep his emotions in check that bit better. GL.

I,ve some knack lately for putting the pure kiss of death on a golfer,Kim + 4 for last 3 holes. Looks as if it is between the first 9 players and they all look a much of a muchness to me.Went on Schwartzel and Donald to try and rescue something out of a poor tourny for me. Bad an all with the betting, really enjoyed the course, the USPGA have come up trumps again in delivering a true test of golf. Shame it looks like the last time it will be played here though can understand it with the logistics. Couldn,t believe how small/compact the course is(111 sq either acres or hectacres) nearly every other course is at least 3 times the size and Sawgrass nearly 4 times. GL anyone still standing here.

Brilliant course despite not being links . The member largely responsible for the initial design went to Scotland and England to suss out their courses , hence why it fits my eye , and why I should have joined in the fairly big interest in Padraig pre kick off, it would have suited his eye . And planty of time to trade out of him early last night . Gone now though , along with Rory .
My interest is still with Luke , unbelievable price for him before they kicked off , 52 on the purple one . Traded out too early though , at 16 I think on the first day . Still think he looks like he might win it , swinging smoothly .

Very lopsided book for me, biggest win is off rose and had some on Phil at average 8.2 in running last night. Wide open but should be very exciting. GL.

His selection will arrive as the last pair are striding up the seventeenth, whoever is in the lead will be his pick. If there is a tie for the lead he will then postpone comment til they have driven off at the eighteenth.

Some of the countries i lived in i did not speak the language 'at first', but i became an excellent communicator and reader of body language, you could say i am fluent at it, i firmly this skill allows me to make a profit on in-running events and it was partly down to Scott signals body language and the other golfers too that made me choose him the last time when not a fav, while most were betting the fav at the time.

Heading out for a few pints for it this evening, hopefully Mahan can stay involved, or else Strick can pick up the pieces!! Stuck few quid on Eton Rambler in 5.35 Salsbury, to hopefully pay for the scoops

Fairway Phil ran out of fairways just at the wrong time . Well played Rose , steady golf wins , plus a couple of putts at exactly the right time .
He No 4 in the world rankings I think , that should move him to 3 or 2 , given Rorys poxy finish .

Justin Rose was born in South Africa of English parents and was reared in England,he is English and his play of the last hole was of Ben Hogan like quality.
Well done Deplasterer once again.Justin Rose was born in South Africa of English parents and was reared in England,he is English and his play of the last hole was of Ben Hogan like quality.
Well done Deplasterer . Just looked at your initial post . Strangely I took an interest in running on 3 of your 4 , Dustin owes me bigtime now , he disappeared , Padraig and Adam made me money( trading) .
Rose is my biggest winner in the (British) Open , sods law I guess . Maybe lightning will strike twice !

Noticed a fair bit of money about for Padraig leading up to the US Open , wondered who was in his "supporters" club . They got a good run for their money , but at the end of the day , the course won . Thought the shorter straighter hitters would come out on top , but Luke eventually was not sharp enough for the full 72 rounds , and Phil and Justin aren't exactly short straight men .
Great tournament , hope Muirfield is as interesting !

Look, listen deplasterer we have all had one like this and there is no doubt but your going to follow PoD over a cliff, maybe the Cliffs of Moher but he can win the Irish open probably his best chance to save you......

Well done DP, happy for you, not for Rose!! Cant stand him. Another major for South Africa. Hunter backed out of it when the pressure cranked up, only just held on for the place money. Going to start trickling money onto Fowler for British Open, his game is starting to come together. Hopefully the wind blows, he proved his shot making ability in Dazzlers year.
