He is not that bad, I am convinced that Montjeu's generally want good ground and not rattling quick like it is today.
Plus 10f is not optimal trip for me.
He is a good horse not a great horse.

I accept he doesn't look particulary good right handed but I not sure his optimal conditions are there.
1m4f over good ground left handed i think he is far better.

imagine if Camelot had won the Leger he would probably never had ran in the Arc retired and lauded as some sort of a superstar?
Scary to think that an average horse like Camelot could've had legendary status almost by accident?

cant believe they kept him in training as a 4yo.........after his ledger defeat last year they should have found him one more race to win..........as easy as possible, not even a group 1. running him in the arc was crazy.

That's not him, he was life and death last winter with colic, can anyone seriously believe an all cylinders firing Camelot would not beat that yoke. Come on, with the absolute joy some are taking in this, I'd be surprised if they ever keep another Derby winner in training. The real question is, why is the Tatts Gold Cup such a heap of **** of a race that any Group class horse could've laid claim to it today. Worse than the Froch fight last night hailing that thing for the Arc, Jesus Christ!!

according to anyone who knows anything about the operation this horse has had its amazing hes running in any form of a group race let alone a donkey derby. Clearly not the horse he was but the fool that doesn't take note of Aidan saying this is the best horse he ever trained must think the trainer hasn't a clue, hehe funny that. He's got St nicholas Abbey back to win top races and he'll prove he knows more about top quality horses than any author on this forum.

How many tolmi, you suggesting he saying it often?
How many GREAT horse has he had and how many GROUP 1 winners has he had and he talks about camelot the way he does. Before camelot won racing post O Brien stated that this horses work was baffling everyone in the yard, the computer system deployed to record fractions was picking up reading that no other horse in his yard ever achieved. He duly won the racing post impressively.
As a 3 year old he won guineas over 8f won the epsom derby over 12f won the irish derby over 12f on bog given a stink ride in leger to finish 2nd over 14f then after all that he ended his season with a lack lustre run in the arc.
Its very easy to shoot down horses after they get beat. Triple crowns don't be achieved in recent times simply horses aren't breed to win 1 mile, 1 1/2 mile and the 1 3/4 mile. It was a gamble the owners took that has backfired because getting beat in leger has taken every from this great horse. Joseph should have made sure he won the leger and the the horse would have retired the triple crown winning great. that racing he didn't and any chinks will now be use to knock this brave horse.
If bolgers horse wins the epsom derby do you think he'll try and win the irish derby and leger and then go to france unbeaten. These horses are not machines nor are they typing donkeys.

his best run last year was in the arc.......there is no overstating how bad the horses were in the 2000g and derby. i have great respect for aidan........he is a unique trainer and no other trainer would have won so many group 1s with these horses..........BUT he talks an awful lot of rubbish......few years back, every group1 winner from 1m to 1m4f had enough speed to win the july cup.......did any try? no..........every horse that runs a sequence of group1 wins is "the best we have ever had" or "we've never had a horse like him"

Easy to know about group one horses when everything that comes into your yard is bred to be, yet hundreds end up on the slag heap, why beacuse they were no good, a trainer cannot make a slow horse run fast, how hard is that to digest?

Having backed Camelot, I must give credit where it is due and state that I was very impressed by the winner.
However, after the race I recalled that I adopted a profitable policy of backing 4 year olds against 3 year olds where they clashed, irrespective of the amount of weight conceded. It just brought back my realisation last season as to how bad the crop of three year olds really were. I think I'll back the 5 year olds against the 4 year olds this season.
