Very poor today , in fact i'd say shocking , Ruby not at his best either , Putting him in behind a horse that was falling back through them , The way a few of willies ran i'd be a little worried that some of them ain't quite right atm ...Anyone else take a view on willies  , I know he won the big one , but overall not up to their usual high standards ...

Yeah he might have got the big one but he's had a host of fancied ones getting turned over during the first 2 days, the odd one running well but most getting well beat.

But if he had trained 4 winners today we would've got the usual nauseating sycophantic genuflection from all and sundry reminding us how Willie and Ruby are so superior to everybody else while the horse barely gets a look in.

Punchestown has always thrown up some funny results. Late in the season and and afterthought for some trainers. While SDC won today was not at his best. SS the same yesterday.

ye cant get a view on his runners, done a special last week in powers 12/1 sir des, hurricane and quevega all to win so hope he wins the next 2 big races.

its a long season..i never fancied the horse ..but according to ruby he did in the interview before the race?..its only the 2nd day i think he,ll get another winner tomorrow and i dont think he,ll have a great festival..but 3-4 winners is still good enough?
Report workrider April 24, 2013 10:10 PM BST
Not after last year its not tony ...Willie needs high profile winners at all the festivals to satisfy his big owners..Any luck today...?

Ruby had to ride for the Ricci's today. On form he couldn't beat Inish Island, he was just being a cute ****. He had to ride for the stables top owners, he had no choice.

I would be very worried about the form of Willie Mullins horses, looks like they are all over the top.

I had a good look at Sir Des Champs today and thought he had no chance, looked dull and listless.

Can't have Quevega tomorrow because of this,so time to lump on Solwhit.

Any chance he had went at the 2nd last, he was as you say in wrong place, almost certainly better than his run yesterday,Ruby was sweet enough on him in an interview beforehand,i,d give him another chance WR.

wp on his website yesterday said ballycasey needed better ground.that seems a logical explaination to me for his run.
Report oufies pal April 25, 2013 10:19 AM BST
Maybe he is not as good as they thought. Has not beaten anything on course to back up his lofty reputation, so far anyway. Hype not good enough at grade 1 level.

I DID OK in the end tony , I had £40 win klept @ 19/1 on here and £40 place at around 4.4 for the place...So not a bad day , had a good bet on sdc , I was as i said very put out by the run of ballycasey ..Norn text me earlier hes coming down today , I have an appointment to have lunch with me daughter , INDIAN , But i might try and get down just to say hello ..off for a shower , talk later tony god bless , HE JUST RANG ME NOW said his mate is driving so fast he thinks he's in an areoplane...Laugh.

Two Quotes from Mullins...

“Ballycasey went to Cheltenham but had to miss the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle due to a slight muscle problem. He's been fine in recent weeks and having won his only two starts this season he is going to be fresher than most of his rivals. The ground should suit him and he's in good form.”

16.55 Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle (Grade 1)
Ballycasey (Ruby) Chose him over our other runner due to his good work at home. However, the ground may not be ideal.
Inish Island (Paul Townend) He will love the ground and he has match fitness

Thats nice.

Gotchee WM has four runners in a race tomorrow three of which are owned by Ricci. Ruby rides the odd one out. My opinion is that he always rides the one he believes to have the best chance. He did step aside a few times last December to help Patrick break the record and I would understand that Patrick gets his choice in the Cheltenham bumper. Otherwise Ruby is very much only interested in winners.
