People always seem to be rushing to praise sporting performances to the heavens . Presumably its part of the modern syndrome , particularly in relation to those who want to opine that "their " era is the best there has ever been .
In recent seasons England ( rugby) , Barca ( soccer ) and Donegal ( GAA) have all been lauded as the best or among the best "ever" . So where do Wales , Bayern , etc belong ? , and we are talking less than a years time frame here .
Team performances in particular have to be taken in relation to the opposition . The golden age of hurdling happened at a time when there were a lot of brilliant horses competing against each other , doubt we will ever see that again .
I thought Camelot was nigh on unbeatable last season given his performances against his own age group , thought he was a worthy "runner up " to Nijinsky in those terms. An unconsidered horse beat him in the Leger , but what view will be perceived in relation to that animal given the events of the last 2 days . Corn flakes for breakfast ?
Camelot was also comprehensively beaten in the Arc and virtually all of his previous victims before the Leger done nothing to advertise his greatness. So when it comes to over praise Coolmore/Aidan are the kings of all they survey.
I'm not sure where Donegal fit in Kelly? but its hard not to dispute Barcelona's claims to greatness, they're probably not as a good now anyway but teams have figured out the only way to play them is with fear, hence why teams funnel back everybody behind the ball the minute Barca have possession, to try to play them at open football is usually folly as Man Utd found out twice, but it takes a real physical presence, discipline and non stop workrate to carry it off which Chelsea and Bayern had, so to me Kelly that would mean the other teams are giving Barcelona the utmost of respect?.

I think that in relation to the beautiful game, that Barcelona were brilliant at the way they played,(pass, pass),and time, fatigue wear and tear, have all caught up with them. Bayern are now the team, and I felt this long before yesterday. They also play in a manner which I find brilliant and exciting. Plenty big men in this team and they are now the team to beat. Muller is brilliant, tough and so strong, a tremendous grafter also. Then you have Gomez, Dante,(a 4m buy recently enough), and the young lad that got Austria's goal against Ireland. He's a fabulous player, and they have just got Dortmunds best player on to their books, and Pep on his way, and a super netminder. Mind you not alot wrong with the present manager, he might have the years done, but look at the great Sir Alex, then. Bayern Munich are back better than ever and will be heralded as a super side in years to come.

Think Camelots performance in the Arc was partly a legacy of his Leger run . Not dissimilar to the afore mentioned Nijinsky who was also beaten in the Arc . Interested to see how Camelot goes this year ,
Donegal were the second coming last September , but over the winter / spring think there has been a rethink . Obviously its not the All Ireland yet , but such a good team ( if they were) would surely have strolled through against the opposition in the National League . In the past , the really good GAA teams won the All Ireland and the league in a canter , in some cases in multiple fashion .
Bayern are a very good team , just hope the fans wait for a couple of years when the verdict may be more conclusive .
