yes but i would say that when the linesmen sit down and watch the replay they can admit they are wrong, unlike snap

Much harder to judge than that, shocking call.
Report kavvie February 19, 2013 12:31 AM GMT
agree.but im sure privately the judge knew he was wrong after.im a bit puzzled by md to be honest insisting it was a right call.

Written by S McGarry.
As owner of miss fury, I write this with a heavy heart.
The last week has been one of the most devastating i've witnessed and believe me i've had many physically and emotionally.
The bitch won the course, of that i have no doubt, and from the reaction of the crowd and everyone there, only the judge thought otherwise.
There are two great loves in my life, my family and sport, namely greyhounds and hurling. When loughgiel won the all-Ireland in 1983 and a local bitch went close in an oaks(tracking), a dream was born that one day loughgiel would again win this and i'd won the oaks.
With loughgiel winning the all-Ireland in 2012 and missfury qualifying for clonmel the dream was alive and kicking.
Gerry Holian, a credit to the sport, said that getting to clonmel was like going to hell and back and after the misfortunate gruelling quarter final that miss fury had, because of the short slip, I was on a high as i honestly gave the bitch no chance in the semi, she had other ideas and i was ecstatic as she turned the hare in front, what followed was gut wrenching, the judge gave her beat. I could not believe it, nor could the crowd that much was obvious.
John o connell had single handidly destroyed the dream that was, he had singled me and the bitch out for a shocking decision. Really and truly could such a genuine mistake bé made by someone with his pedigree? Only he can answer that, and perhaps he will, in due course, enlighten us.
In any other sport in the world, there would bé consequences, in this sport i leave this in the capable hands of the I.C.C
So, as Brian Devilly stated on monday, today, for some of us dreams will bé realised, for others the dream goes on and for me the dream has became a dark place and i am left with no choice but to hang up my soaked, mud stained boots. To the new owners of all my dogs, including miss fury, i wish well. John o connor you let down the sport, your family, the I.C.C, the spectators, the owners and the breeders.
To all stewarts, especially the three that came to the van, I thank you, to the men and woman alike who consoled me I thank you, to all whom helped me through the festival in all ways I thank you

I assume the Double O and the poor loser of an owner approved of the assault on the judge, great promoters of the sport.

md the hare was turned at that stage..im surprised a you
Report snap crackle and pop February 19, 2013 7:45 PM GMT
kavvie mate how was the hate turned at that stage???? both dogs are straight on line directly behind the hare who is just in the process of turning...a mate I'd mine told me he spoke to the photographer who told him that she was directly on line to get this pic right on the turn.....its v black and white mate....doesnt even warrant a discussion me thinks
Report never give up February 19, 2013 7:52 PM GMT
photographer was yvonne harrington....

quote from data
It's to do with perspective Yvonne. A straight line from your lense to the hare and a straight line from your lense to the path the dogs are running could yield an angle of 30 degrees plus with respect to the relative distance and position of the action. You have produced a small still frame from a very big picture, thus all perspective is lost. This frame could be from Dan Donnelly's Hollow for all anyone can see whereas with a video you are allowed the capacity to view the action with it's true relation to it's surroundings and thus can make mental adjustment.
Report kavvie February 19, 2013 8:08 PM GMT
that pic is from behind the turn.the picture,if you look at it is not parallel with the run up where the dogs go up.if it was in line it would be parallel.she admitted as much..feeeze frame it on you tube..

correct and yvonne did admit it

photo just reinforces what I saw with my own 2 eyes mate.....end of discussion.....doesn't matter what sort of lenses the photographer was using or was not using.....irrelevant....all that matters is that the photographer captured the pivotal moment in the course....
Report kavvie February 19, 2013 8:13 PM GMT
jaysus...the hare was at right angles to the dogs...look again
Report snap crackle and pop February 19, 2013 8:22 PM GMT
smart ali just turned the hare to the rite....i guess thats why some people think miss fury won....because it was turned over to her side by smart ali.....making it look as if miss fury was ahead at the turn......when in actual fact....
