Anyone that is thinking of backing Thomas Aiken for glory this week, would be as well off to take the standout show from Stan James, 12-1. Doubt it will last long.

9/1 now with them and 10/1 on here, good spot.Looks a really poor field.
Report lapsy pa February 12, 2013 11:08 AM GMT
Northern Trust looks a good tournament, going with a few that have a good record here.
Phil Mickleson,s two wins and two seconds in the last 6 years is a worthy looking fav,in true Phil fashion after a win at Phoenix follows with a well down the field at the AT+T,bounce back time?
Jimmy Walker,a good third last week has finished 4th the last couple of years here.
Kevin Na At a price, played well enough last week, two top 10,s here in the last 3 years.
GL with yours

Yeah I'm with you Pa with Jimmy Walker, though odds are slightly skinny for a man who has yet to win. On at 40's. Africa open looks dire, no bet, but might be the week were Jaco Van Zyl finally gets his head in front.

Little interest in Africa open , apparently none of worlds top 100 in the field .  Guess a lot of the European players are warming up in USA for the World Matchplay .
Report dinglemick February 12, 2013 11:34 AM GMT
Good spot Lapsy .... You d have to follow Mickleson and Walker on that .....

Aiken looks a standout in Africa  at 10s allright . One player that is way over priced is our own David Higgins . Ran into some very good form towards the end of the season culminating in him getting his card . Seems to have got himself right again after injury problems and has the experience . Finished top 10 at Wentworth in the PGA last season when he had no card .
Don t know what form he s in but is a massive price and should be at least a quarter of the odds ..

Wait for it he is 400/1 with Bet 365 ..... Well worth an each way interest
Report lapsy pa February 12, 2013 11:43 AM GMT
Dingle,BJG put a site up a few weeks where basically all form is in front of you called " smartgolfbets space" well worth a look, its very good.

Though the Northern Trust is a much better class of event, i invested heavier on the weak Africa Open. Took the 12s e.w on Thomas Aiken with Stan James. Course form here is more than acceptable, and his finish last week even more so. There a very few in this field in his class, 3-1 for a top 5 is cracking value, and am more than happy with the win part too. When, like last week, there is so little strenght in depth, it really does pay to stick with the in form players, especially when they  also have a big class edge, but are not such house hold names that they are a very short price(Schwartzel last wk). Also backed Jaco Van Zyl at 16s e.w with Stan James. Again very much in form, and his course form is 2nd to none, and he doesn't have a Schwartzel or Oosthuizen to contend with this wk. Had a small e.w bet on David Higgins(owe you one Dingle if he wins!!), but am tossing up between Tommy Fleetwood and Jbe Kruger for third main selection. 11-4 on Fleetwood top ten in Stan James is a good bet.
Lot of players making their 2013 debut this week in the Northrn Trust, makes it harder to weigh up than the last few weeks. Lack of a recent run is putting me off Bubba. Phil has cracking course form, but again his driving is going to be under so much more pressure this week, than when so impressive in Phoenix. Dusty was just too poor at a venue where he should have excelled last wk.
Backed Serg e.w at 20s with Stan James(paying top 6). He looked on top of his game two starts back, when his driving and distance putting were very impressive. Can be excused his effort next time, when aggravated by a shoulder injury, which by backing i am trusting is sorted!! Course form reads well, and could be a better player now again than in last few years. Also added both Webb Simpson and Keegan Bradley e.w at 35s( Bet365). Neither have really shone yet this year, but both now have a couple of runs under their belt. Bradley was beaten in a playoff last year, showing great balls to get into it, Webb 15th here on his only try. Webb shaped last week like he was ready to hit fom. Stuck few quid win and place on Kevin Na on here. With the top players just getting going, it may be a week where he can get himself into contention, and stay there.
Alternatively ya could just skip the pre tournament bets, and have your sack on Madrid to beat Utd tomorrowGrin

Ye the african open has a poor field going for mulroy again after a good showing last week,14/1,in the northern open going for luke donald 18/1,also done a double on the two of them outright, and done a double that they will both get into the top 5 aswell. 7/2 both are in that market. gl all

David Higgins is giving it a fair go for you Dinglemick.
Van Zyl backers very unlucky with the weather really should be a few clear instead of behind.

Good round from Higgins tomorrow, and it gives us a good crack at the place money. Da Silva could do with a few bogeys tbhGrin
Report callitasucit February 15, 2013 12:47 PM GMT

Sunshine tour leaderboard says -6 (better and quicker than Euro tour site) if so pending on the afternoon performance he is doing well, Gowan Dingle i,m shouting him on for ya.
Report db1974 February 15, 2013 12:52 PM GMT
John Parry @ 66/1 (Coral) must be worth a small shout

-4 after Rnd 1, he tees off at 15:25. Even the same again today would see him up there for the weekend.

Van Zyl is only 4/1 and he's just 2 shots ahead of Parry
Report db1974 February 15, 2013 12:54 PM GMT
Higgins back to -6 on Euro Tour website

The leaderboard on the european tour website is and has always been an absolute joke, constantly getting scores wrong and basically best not to take what they have up as right until getting conformation from elsewhere.
Report lapsy pa February 15, 2013 1:14 PM GMT
Sunshine tour site is best one for the African tournaments Prem imo

Van Zyl clear 2nd and only 3 back, probably a result considering he had the worst of the draw.

Hoping for a masterclass from Phil 'The Thrill' tonight Grin

Just done a small double on my selections outright donald 11/2 and mulroy 33/1

Hopefully Van Zyl can finish the job in the morning. Finished with two very good par putts, which will hopefully give him confidence teeing off tomorrow. Haas had some round stateside. Simpson done as well as i could have hoped, and still finds himself three adrift.

For a 1000/1 on here he gave you a great run Mick, didn,t have to do a lot today to get a place.
Poor week for me as well,"bad" Phil played last night, nasty red screen with only Teater/Beijan for a rescue and not holding my breath there.

Didnt see much of it as was working this morn, but of what i did see, Van Zyl was very disappointing, especially after opening with consecutive birds. Hoping for a Webb win, or two places from Webb, Serg or an unlikey Bradley tonight to make up for it. Anyone on Haas?? Good luck if so, if not, hope he caves!! Also done 3 ball multiples, trebles and up, Walker, Bradley, Furyk, Garcia, Mahan and Webb. Thought i had Luke in there, but it appears notCrazy. And a single 3 ball on Bradley. Much prefer Sunday 3 balls to 2 balls. The tie is  killer!

Poor weekend, having had great hopes on Friday. E.w on Van Zyl, E.w on Webb and Serg, and a gud chunk e.w on Ding a 12s in the snooker. A second, the dreaded 6th and a beaten semi finalist doesn't fill me with happiness!! Onwards and upwards, 3 weeks to fill the Cheltenham war chest. Hopefully the Tiger can produce the goods when needed once againGrin
